If you listen to the studio recordings of both, Patti's version is more in depth as if she lived it; not just sing it. And the end note Patti hits brings it home. Celine didn't have that power. Hers was more begging. Patti's was more passionate and her range took it over the rainbow.

You nailed it with tone and resonance! I think that is what sets her apart from all female singers like a lot of singers can hit high notes and even higher than Celine in many cases. But no singer has her tone and resonance and that is what makes her really good and gains set her apart from many other singers. I have seen videos of Celine covers where the singer has really nailed the high notes and many probably thinks even better than Celine. But the tone or resonance hasn't been there which made it sound boring or not that good anyway. People are so focused on high notes so things like tone and resonance becomes forgotten.
