Capitol Butte (Thunder Mountain) Hike - Sedona, AZ

Capitol Butte is one of my favorite Sedona hikes, as you rarely see anyone on it, and it's short and steep. This is also referred to as Thunder Mountain. I already have a video on this (linked below), but the camera was in my hand for that one so wanted to record again with the camera on my head. You park at the Devil's Bridge parking lot, so it's hard to get a spot

I thought I knew the Sedona trails fairly well. Wife and I have friends that live in W. Sedona so we go every year. They are right in front of Coffee Pot. I didn't know there was a trail for Thunder mtn. Should assume that with every mtn. there is a trail. Just not sure where to pickup Capitol Butte trail without going to Devil's Bridge lot. Can I reach from Sugarloaf? Another enjoyable video! Thanks!

I suppose you could reach it from anywhere in Sedona depending how far you wanted to walk...but the devil's bridge parking area is the quickest way as you can't park on the road anymore. this is actually a route that's on alltrails whereas some of the other stuff I do is more just scrambling up formations like morning glory spire, twin buttes, courthouse butte, loy butte, etc

I’m assuming you started at the Lizard Head Trail. Is that correct?
I haven’t been up there yet, so I’m looking for all the advance information I can get. Thanks for the video!

I started at the parking area for devil's bridge, not sure what it's called. But you can start anywhere just hard to find parking -- either way it's the same trail up. I have another older video on this hike as well if that helps, but this video should be enough to get you to the top i think!
