Thanks everyone for the love! important to note here : All footage shot with XH2S (Not X100VI), sorry i thought that would have been assumed! My Bad.
Title is misleading.
I own the XH2S and really like it - also for stills.
I love your colour grading. Warm white balance, muted highlights, unsaturated shadows and earthly colours.
is that the way he edits?
@@MrSolidair I don't know for certain. It's what I see.
@@vladibarraza Okay! I love hes colour grading so much haha, that's why I asked!
I also would like to replicate this look - Sam crushes the black a lot, doesn’t he?
@@arno.claudeYes, the forest at 0:00 and his sweater at 0:57 are clear examples. Pure black, 0 IRE :)
FANTASTIC images!! Thank you for sharing…
the music choices paired so well with the visuals. very enamoring
Again, beautiful pictures.
Thanks Samuel...very nice video!
Súper gracias por estos vídeos Sam
Great episode. You past right by me here in Bend. I agree about the Oregon inspo…lots to capture. I’ve been rocking the VI for almost a month and really liking it. Looking forward to seeing more from this area.
Beautiful as usual Sam!
Some of your best photos.
This deserves more views, fantastic cinematography and all of that.
Luna Sea is always the jam, nice video
Beautifully shot
The clouds in this video were paid actors. Awesome work man can't wait to get mine!
Nice atmosphere with the chillout music and the wonderful landscape pictures of Oregon...
It's something the non Fuji shooters do not get: gorgeous colors easily out of the box. Other cameras also produce "colorful" images, but the aethetics are different, the color harmony of a Fuji is just better, better "tuned" for a lack of a better word. I've shot Fujifilm since 2003 for a reason, although they have been technically inferior to Canon or Nikon.
I'm such a big fan of your photography and the way you edit your photos! I would highly appreciate if you could do a tutorial on how you edit your photos :)
Will do!
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto and maybe a colour grading tutorial for video? 🤩
Waiting on my preorder to go along with my X-S20. I need to visit Oregon sometime.
now THAT is called a thumbnail 👏
These are some of your best photos to date!🔥 the GFX100S and the X100VI are the perfect workhorse and everyday combo and this video shows that!👏🏼 great work Sam!✨
Glad you like them!
Great images, and cool video. I will anywayl stick to my Fujifilm X-Pro1 for photography for another year or so :)
Fujifilm ❤️
All the photos at 10:26 are beautiful! Can’t wait for a new video on your editing :)
Glad you like them!
Love the video! If you were to sell your LUTs or LR Presets, people would go crazy! Your eye for tones and colour is unmatched
Lovely work Sam! Put us out of our misery with an edit video. 😂 Keen to see some processes.
Nice video as always Sam, I always love your style, pacing and photography.
I got one on launch, decided to sell my favourite ever camera, the Q2 and go with the x100vi as ‘my camera’ but quickly realised after loving the V so much before owning the Q2, that the VI wasn’t for me.
I struggled to see in 35mm after being so used to 28mm, and sold it two weeks later, and getting a Q3, which I’ve decided to start integrating into my wedding work alongside my Sonys.
I do wish I’d liked the X100vi, but couldn’t get on with it at all after the Q- I really didn’t like even picking it up
Do you still shoot the Q series at all?
I like the photos too but those nature scenery clips are insane!! I'm so impressed by X100VI's video quality.
Plus, just wonder, is Oregon still cold and snowy these days?
All shot with the Xh2S! the images are X100VI. Oregon is absolutely still snowy these days hah.
Fire!

loving the vibe of the video. would be super helpful to know which clips were filmed with the x100vi, maybe a small badge in a corner "filmed with ...."
All was filmed with the XH2S
Beautifully put together Sam - the Oregon coast is a special place, I live on the coast! what did you shoot the video parts on? Sorry if I missed in the comments - thank you!
XH2S
Hi, really good. Which kind of picture profile generally use for landscape on x100VI ? Do you use priority of dynamic range? Thank you.
Usually Velvia - i typically meter for highlights, and bump up a stop or two to preserve shadow detail a little bit
amazing video. have watched it twice bc of the great shots. a little confused about which shots are from the X100VI though - is most of this video shot from the XH2S?
Yes that’s it. None of this video is shot with the X100VI.
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto gah damn. amazing shots, regardless. thanks for the reply
So good!! Are all of the video footage being shot on the XH2S?
This was. It’s in an open gate format cause the crop on the sides.
Yep
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto out of curiosity. Flog2 or film sim for the video?
I was on the fence, between the 100VI and the XT5... But wound up choosing the X-T5 because I just wanted the option to switch lenses.
Having owned both, the xt-5 with a pancake lens isn't much bigger than an x100vi. Neither of them will fit in your pocket and both require the same size bag if you wanted to keep it concealed. So though there is a size difference in depth, it makes little to no difference in actual practice as the x100vi size doesn't really have many tangible benefits when around your neck compared to the xt-5. The Ricoh GR line on the other hand has real benefits as it can fit in your pocket, where the X100 line isn't much smaller than the rest of the Fujis w/compact lenses. So like you, I'd rather have an Xt-5 so I can choose my lenses (especially for video) and occasionally pop on a compact zoom when I need it.
@@Scoober222 Right ! My fav focal length is 50mm but, I've been shooting more 40mm recently and I get that w/ the 27mm on the XT5. Never seen it before but once it was on there I was like, "maybe this is how the X100VI is ?!" Loving it so far and loving this setup more than my previous XT4 w/ the 16-55mm lol.
@@TopshelfJunior … do you mean 27mm f2.8 pancake lens or are you referring to a 3rd party lens?
@@GrayGhostDog1 My bad, 27 ! Was typing and driving ! Just shot with it the other day. Video / photos will be out on the 21st. Even you get a chance, circle back and check it out.
Beautiful surroundings ❤ Did you use a custom simulation? If so, can you give us the settings?
Usually just velvia or provia with highlights and shadows adjusted. i shoot pretty much entirely raw though, so it just reverts back in lightroom.
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto Thank you
Mean pics bro
Hey sam, curious as to why you're using the xh2s now for filming??
Got bored of the R5 i can't lie. it just sat on my shelf, and i didn't shoot with it as much as i needed to. XH2S is both inspiring to pick up, and more importantly the image is stunning in 6.2k
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto Sweet as, personally swapped from the FX3 to the XH2S recently for practically all the same reasons. Just wanted to hear your takeaway :))
I just want my VI 😢.
📸😍👏🏽👏🏽
is all the video footage shot with the fuji too?
Xh2S yes
randomish comment you'll probably never see but did you used to hang w andrew kearns? ur name felt familiar and i used to watch his photo/travel vlogs so i was wondering if there was overlap
Yes! Absolutely. PNW love ❤️
Why do you use your left eye in the viewfinder?
Always have. not sure hah
worst video ever shot on this camera! It took almost 4 minutes to get the shots out of the camera. Complete waste of time
Guess what brotha - you’ve got a choice whether or not to watch believe it or not
your new videos are so therapeutic
