- Finding both a title and a thumbnail for this upload took me a while of thinking since I do not want to immediately spoil the massive plot point this shows.
So to the surprise of literally no one, Mio didn't REALLY die, M is in fact Mio, N is in fact Noah, and good god did Noah do some serious atrocities just to keep his waifu. The rest speaks for itself really.

Mio after maintaining a fake indentity for a month and finally being able to reveal herself:
"Hey Noah, my new haircut is not a dealbreaker for you, is it?"
Which makes it funnier when there's the talk about cutting it that one of the reasons she might want to keep it because "Noah might like it better".
The long hair is badass. But I would be willing to let her cut it back because it's really inconvenient for her.
And then she whines about it being annoying while taking a dump..dream girl
This scene is wild if you look at it from the perspective of one of the faceless Agnus soldiers in the crowd.
The top Consuls plan an execution of traitors, so you go to watch. First one goes as intended, then one of the consuls talks to another prisoner. Then another consul goes to talk to the prisoner too, but for some reason, this confuses the heck out of the first consul, who goes batshit insane. Then the other prisoners yeet their restraints, go turn into giant robots along with the second consul, and proceed to beat the crap out of the first consul. Eventually rhe fight dies down, but they keep having this weird argument you have no idea the context for. Finally, to cap it all off, your Queen goes nuts and starts firing in the crowd for some reason, so you GTFO.
I have no idea how the average Agnus soldier would begin to comprehend that day's events.
Must say, Noah’s VA is definitely on par with Shulk’s in regards to giving an agonising vocal performance. Gut wrenching pain is so well acted in this series.

@@haveagoodday7021 Gonna be honest I thought Rex's hilariously bad screams was intentional. He's the only one of the protagonists who never really seen war, he wasn't a fighter in any way like Shulk or Noah I chalked it up to Rex simply being an inexperienced warrior without a properly trained battle cry.

N is like Jin in a lot of ways. A man who could not go on without the woman he loved, and thus did the unthinkable to keep her with him, resulting in lifetimes of torment for them both.
It’s similar to how The Architect and Zanza both went mad from being gods in different ways except Jin and N aren’t related in the slightest
He is also similar to Grahf, both went mad as a result of losing their loved ones.
N is 100% inspired by Grahf from Xenogears, everything works this way instead of Jin
@@SnackerWolf I'd consider him a fusion of the characters. The Xenogears influences are undeniable, especially the nature of Noah and Mio's romance, but there certainly is a lot of influence from the previous Xenoblade games as well! I'd even add a bit of Egil into N's mix, if mainly for the golden armor making me think of Yaldaboath in contrast to M's silver armor making me think of Face Nemesis. M definitely is the Meyneth to Mio's Fiora.

Ik this scene is supposed to be very emotional but the look on N's face of sheer confusion when Mio and Noah hold hands and stand up gets me everytime XD
He has the most "Uh... wtf is happening" expression I've seen in the entire franchise.
His expression is priceless. I laughed in that moment during my first playthrough. It's so good!
I was like "Why isnt he interrupting them?" then realized he was on the verge of a breakdown... DAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNN
The entire situation is so ridiculous and unrealistic it kinda undermines the emotional bits. Which I'm perfectly fine with because it's why I enjoy nutty jrpg stories.
"Hey let's write a story where you play as some odd clone/reincarnation of one of the antagonists. Then have the clone protagonist cuck his evil half. By revealing that the antagonist's girl was so sick of how he ran things. That she swapped places with the clone's girl set to die. And make it so that the antagonist forced the clone to watch his girl die. Only for the antagonist girl to reveal she was really was the clone girl. And have the antagonist girl walk up and hold the clone's hands. While the antagonist just gives a dumbfounded face as he realizes he was just cucked by a version of himself."

Love how Torna basically foreshadowed the entire theme and setting of the game.
I mean even the credit's song was called "A Moment of Eternity", and was about Jin being able to smile one last time, even without Lora. Xenoblade 3 is quite literally a moment of eternity. The Endbringer acts like a homage to Jin's abilities as well.
I legit fanboyed when I saw Noah using moves akin to Jin’s arts bro. The parallels between the two being men just angry at the world for having lost everything is just exceptional. While Jin never got the opportunity to “retry” his time with Lora and N did, I’m glad they noticed the similarities in the writing and gave Noah homage to his move set. My goat lives on.

After a month of dealing with all of N's taunting and cruelty, Noah calling him out like that was the most satisfying momemnt in the game up to that point.

After seeing all this, you know what N is? A hypocrite. You know why, because he sacrificed everything and everyone he knew and loved, just to be with his Mio. But when Noah, our Noah, tries to do all he can to be with our Mio, what does N do? He gloats and brags it's all pointless for them, that Mio is going to die and Noah can do nothing about it. What's worse, he tried to make his own other self to send off his Mio, and he did it like it was the most hilarious thing in the whole world. And when M died to save Mio, he acts like HE'S in the right to be angry, and then acting like M was a possession rather than a person, which is one of many reasons why she left him in the first place! After all N did, and then making fun of Noah for his efforts, makes him a GIANT hypocrite.
Not really, yeah N is a hypocrite but that's not his reasoning. N does shit to Noah because he wants to make himself suffer for trying to do something he couldn't do. He wants to put Noah in the darkest depths of despair because he believes that he's always fated to fail while trying to save mio. To N, it's incredibly hilarious to see someone struggle for something theoretically impossible and he wanted himself to suffer for it. Noah is his repentance but N tries to hide the fact that he regrets what he did.

My interpretation was N *had* to do all of those things to current Noah. To prove he made the right choice. That abandoning everything he ever stood for, everyone else he knew and loved, for the sake of being with Mio forever, removed from the cycle of death and war and able to live a life of safety and "peace" was the right choice. The only choice.
His cruelty to current Noah and Mio is one part desperate self-affirmation, one part self loathing/a desire to punish himself for being a selfish coward, and one part anger at being reminded he once had the courage and strength of character to stand up to the Moebius.
This question lies on how Noah and Mio can keep reincarnate even when M and N still exist. Mio is an embodiment of M's hope of how the world should be, while Noah is an embodiment of how N himself should have been. N made his decision and got what he wanted at the cost of destroying and betrayed everything and everyone he knew and created. But deep down, he knows it is never been what M nor he would want. The true reason behind N action was to proof that he was right and had no other choice, that is Noah will never be able to save Mio, since that is something he has tried so many times, and the only rightful option was to take the path as he have done.
N was right, for his love ones, that is the only decision that he can only take in this shitty world and Noah agreed that he would simply done the same for Mio, the only difference between N and Noah is that Noah was simply luckier because he still have his friends, which convince him to still pursuit his true goal and also Mio's wish, even when it cost him the love of his life, even when he have to go alone.
N believes what he done is right, but deep down he knows it wrong. That is why he want Noah to fail, to feel exactly like what he have felt in the past, because if Noah could done something that he couldn't, then what worth those sacrifices be?
Can we acknowledge how Mio's voice is just cute as fuck?
It's uncanny on how similar it is to Fiora's, minus the Welsh accent. Honestly, both Noah and Mio sound similar to Shulk and Fiora.

Mio really is Welsh catgirl Fiora, isn't she? Death fake-out, silver armor, having another consciousness inside her. Their voices are even similar, minus the accent difference! All that's missing is crazy battle voice clip glitches that make her sound like a madwoman.
and N is xenoblade 3 Jin. Broken because of an ultimatium in a world built on despair. I could go on and on about how they are similar yet distinct. This game's amazing truly!
M’s Armor is white like Mio’s over shirt which doesn’t cover up her Flesh Eater core Crystal not Sliver. Edit: nvm your right it is sliver, also it is part white.
I feel the same about connecting Joran to Mumkhar, except just more plump and clown. He “dies” early on (albeit of a different reason), comes back but as an enemy reborn with new powers (being Moebius compared to essentially a cyborg), has a disturbing outer form (his clown Moebius form like Metal Face’s forever unhinged smile), an obsession with the main party (three characters instead of one, plus a sword, this time), that obsession stemming from a desire to surpass the person/people that stand above them, and he dies falling off a platform then exploding. Joran does turn back while Mumkhar dies a wretched fool.
@@saltmines5761 I guess when you fuse him with Dirk, it sort of makes sense. Dirk definitely has more of the traits that made Mumkhar the Metal Face we love to hate, though.

This scene, N's acting in particular, gave me real Anakin Skywalker vibes. His screaming, cursing, "You have stolen her away from me! I will extinguish you, and take her back! Mio is MINE!" reminds me heavily of Anakin yelling at Obi-Wan. "You turned her against me!...You will not take her from me!" And later, "Now, you will continue to exist as Moebius," connects well with "Love won't save you, Padmé. Only my new powers can do that." Even Z turning N loose against the City parallels Anakin's betrayal and extermination of the Jedi. N wasn't the Chosen One, but he fell from grace for the same reason as Anakin: their love twisted and turned to grief and fear of loss. I think N's fall is told much better than Anakin's, though.
Darth Moebius
It helps that in the case of Noah and Mio, they are stuck in a perpetual cycle of meeting, falling in love only for Mio to die before Noah. And Z manipulated Noah by showing him the agony he had to keep going through over and over again and again wherein he has to watch the love of his life die before him. And since becoming Moebius basically makes you relive all your past lives/deaths in an instant, you can imagine that the grief he endured basically broke him and made him into what he is now as N.
"Master Noah there are too many of them what are we going to do?"
I mean his scene with Z when he joined Moebius kind of mirrors the opera house scene in Revenge of the Sith so you're not that far off with the comparison.
@@soulkibble1466 and to make it worse, not even Homecoming stopped that cycle, since it is supposed to be Permadeath for Kevesi and Agnian soldiers, and the versions of Noah and Mio that had a son both went through Homecoming (it's even implied that they both went through several homecomings before the game's events and that the "parents" versions of Noah and Mio were the iterations before they became Moebius). Z said it himself that he invited N to his theatre cause he was intrigued by Noah's and Mio's nature of being able to still exist despite going through homecoming.
just imagine what Past Noah thought and felt after he said goodbye to his son; Ghondor, your time was up, and you would die peacefully and reunite with your cat waifu wife in death, finally free of the hell that was Aionois, but then suddenly, you wake up and find yourself in an eerie movie theater next to a creepy pale-skinned Ansem in a red suit with a Palpatine-esque voice, who bombards you with literal LIFETIMES of anguish and constantly failing more times than a guy fighting Whitney's Miltank, having to watch his lover get fridged over and over and over, gruesomely dying himself more times than Kenny from South Park, and basically saying all it amounts to is running up a down escalator.
7:51 Ngl Sena finally reuniting with Mio was the moment I broke in the verge of tears, this whole scene is a rollercoaster of emotions. 😭
When M realizes she can't even die, i can sense she really brokes at that moment
since she worked out that a Moebius can't commit suicide no matter how miserable they are; they can only die if killed by Ouroborus or being caught in an annihilation event.
both methods she KNOWS that N would never allow to happen to her if he could help it.
so she comes up with an unorthodox method; pulling a Ginyu by switching bodies with Mio, then allowing herself to die by homecoming (which is permanent), right under N's nose.
The amount of emotion in this scene alone is beautiful! This is how you do a plot twist!
And I love the emotion in Noah and N’s voices! It’s incredible and powerful!
And this scene alone made me love Mio even more, becoming one of my favorite characters in the game!
Consul M(Mio) should also stand for MVP, her actions literally saved the party's lives.
Consul L's name also befits him, he has literally zero lines in cutscenes and has his spotlight completely taken by X.

The best part is that it takes N a full minute to process the information after she gives Noah the flute before he can start to react to it, and then that takes him a further two minutes.

I haven’t gone holy crap so hard for a video game story in a while. This is one of those twists that instantly becomes iconic for a the right reasons and I’m damn glad I decided to check out these games.
this was an amazing twist and it was easily hinted at the game. I do think they should have never added the scene where M tears up on Mio before cutting out the Interlink part, as it would have been a much stronger scene with they only hint at it being she can swap powers. 11/10 story of this game
If there is not hint like that, the twist may feel like it's out of nowhere.
The moment I saw M's Power I actually guessed it would be something like this ... what I didn't expect was that they switched even before the first Battle so I actually got worried for a moment ... and the gut punching scenes after M(io) faded didn't help.
She also says she wants a “her” Noah disassociating herself from Mio
While I do like how the twist recontextualizes the M fight and prison scene, I feel it ruins the scene itself.
I liked that for once Monolith seemed to actually be killing off a main protagonist, it hurt a lot obviously but I thought finally they’d break out of the cycle of “haha gotcha the main love interest actually survived!” (Looking at you, Seven), but after the cutscene it really ruined the prior cutscenes for me : it was never Mio, those comforting words in the Prison Scene weren’t Mio’s, and while they do have a double meaning it still isn’t as impactful as the whole cutscene on first watch.
The cutscene is still great, just kind of dropped the ball for me

Edit: These cutscenes, particularly the ones in the first half of the video, live in my head rent-free.
You know throughout the whole game up until this point they were replacing swear words with snuff and spark and things like that so I just thought that was something cultural so I wasn't prepared when they actually said shit here
which is why i use the japanese dub instead, i like the casting choice for the english dub, but the line are like from an christian friendly movie where profanity was not invented.

@@Amirifiz no the Japanese dub profanity does not have censor, they still say stuff like damm or shit or hell in Japanese. Like kuso or shikusho, and the like. Just the sub is still the same.
@@pokemon15021 actual the "swears" make sense as their all related to flames and life, you have to remember that the main cast and pretty much anyone in xenoblade 3 with a life span of 10 year have no concept of intercourse. Most irl swear relate to intercourse or private parts. It's actually very smart and pretty good way of world building for them to instead use Swear that relate to their lifespan, flames, and death, because to them that's kinda the crudest thing they can use.
Also they do use irl swear, just not any related to intercourse of which they would understandably have no knowledge of.

after Future redeemed, N breaking is so much better and actually hurts.
Mio was the last thing he held onto, he used her to hold back his regret. Everything was excuses, denial, and self-justification. He was actively lying to himself. That’s also why it took him so long to realize, he was trying to rationalize and find a way to deny the truth infront of him.

I guess you could assume that M left Mio some ability to block Z/X’s suppression but that seems like a stretch. Especially cuz Z proceeds to do the exact same thing later

She's half moebius, half ouroboros after fusing with M.
I believe it's directly stated that for this portion specifically, Mio had access to M's powers as Moebius. But immediately following this, it's taken away by Z. She remains half Moebius half Ouroborus by virtue of being in M's body, but without the power of Moebius. Which sort of makes it irrelevant.
Spoilers for final boss
Z is able to seal their power again because Mio no longer had power as Moebius, but also because that power stemmed directly from him and not the orb on X's staff.

One thing that I'll always find somewhat amusing... is the level of subtlety they gradually go through to reveal that M is Mio, and vice versa. Starts off with a few simple gestures... right up to where Sena straight up asks if she's their Mio; just in case some people still weren't completely sure what was going on.
I had to pause the game for a few minutes and genuinely laugh very hard at his scream.
So, N is basically Anakin Skywalker.
The M stands for Magnificent.

I have to say though if M and mio switched bodies before the main party fought N at the end of chapter 5, since they interlink shouldn't noah have seen all of M's memories then?
I think the wave of memories only happens the first time either one of the pair interlink. After that, it seems to be a choice on what they share. By letting noah the take the lead, he'd be too busy focusing elsewhere to pay full attention inward. Brief swaps to let her lead in the fight doesn't give him the time to notice anything.

no, they didn't, cause of several things
1. N and M were actually emotionally distant at best and toxic at worst
2. none of the Moebius consuls show any ability to have sex or even DESIRE to have it.

4. by the time of the main game, N treats M more like a doll or trophy wife than a person (metaphorically shown with M in Mio's body being in an inescapable prison cell completely alone and unable to kill herself since death is an escape) and is deluded that M is actually HAPPY with being Moebius despite that she's the only one among their ranks who was outright drafted against her will.

He clearly was so focused on living his "perfect life" with his Mio that he wouldn't take her saying no for an answer
