There were too many subpar bosses that I didn't remember fighting till I replayed it. The world felt far more separated than the first one. Instead of finding elevators and passages that linked everything together it was much more linear once you chose a direction from Majula. Again I enjoyed the game and will probably play it again some point but those are my guesses as to why.
To this day for every Dark souls 2 challenge/lore video you watch there is a 99% chance that they quote this video at least one time. Truly a timeless masterpiece of a video

Replaying SotfS and had to watch this now I'm done, it was like revisiting an old neighbourhood. My friend and I back in the day played through the game in elite knight and royal swordsman gear to happy souls it through, and still regularly quote things like "We RUN and we EXPLODE!" to the bemusement of all around us. Thanks for such a legendary animation for one of my all time favourite games!

Actually my first watch after having this video in my recommended for two years but never watching it because I wasn’t interested in Dark Souls until recently.
I once died fighting the chariot in near identical circumstances as that guy did. One of the guys I was helping was in slot with one of those sorcerer dudes that revives the skeletons. We couldn't kill the guy in time so I died.
Even if it is not the first time I watch it and leave a comment this video is still really awesome. But also it hits different today. This cartoon came out the same year and period when I met my best friend way back in 2016. A lot of our relationship were built within Dark Souls 2 and by extension this video. As far as I remember we were referencing many jokes from it. Even using GIF we made ourselves. But he sadly passed away last January, this year of 2024. We were talking every single day since we met so his irremediable absence leaves now a big hole in my heart and in my life. RIP my dear friend. Clearly you were a lifetime bro. I am missing you and I will miss you for a long time. And a lot of thanks to you, Jameserton. You never knew it but you brought closer our two souls with your work at the time. Somehow you became a part of who I was for him and who he was for me. So thank you again.
This is what we call a fucking legend. Makes a single Dark Souls video that marks the community forever, before vanishing and probably never making content about the series again, leaving us with this masterpiece and the hope to one day see something like Happy Ring or something like that.
I've started playing DS2 this week and finally understood the "right down the road" joke. This asshole bird's house isn't right down the road it's two entire areas later and his house is in a place crawling with spider mages and an NPC invader with two crossbow with some kind of giant sand trap in the middle of all of this shit.

@cloudykai That's actually something I never see people bring up. You can get spammed with videos just by liking a couple similar videos so the easiest way to stop it is just disliking a few videos even if you don't watch them.
@cloudykai There's actually a feature on TH-cam to "Stop recommending this channel" and to "Stop recommending videos like these". I also don't believe that the dislike button actually does anything. I'm pretty sure it increases engagement on the video though and causes it to be recommended more.
Someone should make a breakdown of this masterpiece. Timeless humour, relatable protagonists, simple yet charming animation, incredible voice acting, fancy sound effects, solid use of A SINGLE MELODY. It's just too good, everything fits perfectly and I doubt this video will ever cease to make me happy.

How he stresses the words while mocking "tooo eaasy" gets me every time. Pursuer is such a di*k but i love him for giving me a panic attack every damn time he teleports to kill me. Once it was just as i opened the chest near the king's door in forest of the fallen giants. I remember being extremely careful but he would still give me a jumpscare every time in my first play through.
Watching this again after years and it stands out just how well made this is from top to bottom - especially the audio quality. The music and voice recordings, the fx - it's excellent.
Not only do I watch this frequently, but my twin kiddos also watch this of their own free will. Often times when traveling they ask where we're going and I'll say "Right down the road!" And then they'll repeat it. This truly is Happy Souls
From Software owes you a cut. I would not have purchased/played/beaten/been infuriated by DS2 if it weren't for this video. Now I can watch it with a newfound appreciation.
Reasons I played Dark Souls 1: This. This right here. That’s it. Well, I decided to edit this cuz I just now got the platinum trophy for DS2: SOTFS. Thanks for starting me on that journey.
I'll be honest, I played Dark Souls first and it didn't really motivate me to continue. I understood very little of the story and where I had to go, so I ended up leaving it aside. After I saw this video about how fun Dark Souls II is, I decided to give it a chance, even though I already knew about the game's supposed bad reputation. I didn't understand even half of the jokes and references in the video, but after playing the game... WHOAH! I played many, many hours adventuring through Drangleic and exploring every part of the continent. I haven't finished the game yet and I missed a lot of bosses, but everything this video shows is true. It became my favorite, especially because I'm a big fan of high fantasy and this game has a lot of that. Anyway, watching Happy Souls always leaves me with a huge smile on my face and makes my day much happier. Thanks guys!

Even if it is not the first time I watch it and leave a comment this video is still really awesome.
But also it hits different today.
This cartoon came out the same year and period when I met my best friend way back in 2016. A lot of our relationship were built within Dark Souls 2 and by extension this video. As far as I remember we were referencing many jokes from it. Even using GIF we made ourselves.
But he sadly passed away last January, this year of 2024. We were talking every single day since we met so his irremediable absence leaves now a big hole in my heart and in my life.
RIP my dear friend. Clearly you were a lifetime bro. I am missing you and I will miss you for a long time.
And a lot of thanks to you, Jameserton. You never knew it but you brought closer our two souls with your work at the time. Somehow you became a part of who I was for him and who he was for me.

This asshole bird's house isn't right down the road it's two entire areas later and his house is in a place crawling with spider mages and an NPC invader with two crossbow with some kind of giant sand trap in the middle of all of this shit.

Timeless humour, relatable protagonists, simple yet charming animation, incredible voice acting, fancy sound effects, solid use of A SINGLE MELODY.

And not only that, after you find her, the bonfire to warp back to her is infested with a dozen spiders on the walls. You can either kill ALL the spiders or kill the ones that drop as you pass and take a gamble on one of the remaining spiders randomly dropping off the wall while you're minding your business in the other room... and biting you in the ass as you're stuck on the shop menu.

Once it was just as i opened the chest near the king's door in forest of the fallen giants. I remember being extremely careful but he would still give me a jumpscare every time in my first play through.

Watching this again after years and it stands out just how well made this is from top to bottom - especially the audio quality. The music and voice recordings, the fx - it's excellent.
Not only do I watch this frequently, but my twin kiddos also watch this of their own free will. Often times when traveling they ask where we're going and I'll say "Right down the road!" And then they'll repeat it. This truly is Happy Souls

I'll be honest, I played Dark Souls first and it didn't really motivate me to continue. I understood very little of the story and where I had to go, so I ended up leaving it aside. After I saw this video about how fun Dark Souls II is, I decided to give it a chance, even though I already knew about the game's supposed bad reputation. I didn't understand even half of the jokes and references in the video, but after playing the game... WHOAH! I played many, many hours adventuring through Drangleic and exploring every part of the continent. I haven't finished the game yet and I missed a lot of bosses, but everything this video shows is true. It became my favorite, especially because I'm a big fan of high fantasy and this game has a lot of that. Anyway, watching Happy Souls always leaves me with a huge smile on my face and makes my day much happier. Thanks guys!
