  • I found lots of forums where people changed the whole turbo because of this problem.
    You can clean the actuator or buy a new aftermarket one.

    Thank you very much for the video. I found that my turbo actuator was getting stuck also.. I did also clean the presure sensors as you did :). thanks a lot for the information, that for sure save me a 1K euro reparation on the dealer. Your video on how to replace the actuator also helped me on items to remove to have better access to the actuator push-rod.

    excellent camera work . you are a super clear investigator.. my 2.5 2001 VW TDI is occasionally experiencing a similar lack of boost power but only from idle rpm ..

    Excellent video thank you so much. Had the orange engine light on and P0299 error. Started with the cleaning on the sensors and intake with additive and this was enough. But i suspect the actuator change is next step for a long term solution. Summer car holiday saved!

    Many thanks dude. In my case (Passat B7 1.4 TSI) the rod on the westgate was stuck on the open position. So I greased it and hit it to come back to closed position. With a cable I pulled it to me and back to get that grease in the articulations. And it worked. The turbo is back and it behaves normally. The same code P0299 appeared in the beginning. No power. No turbo. Weird exhaust noise, no start stop and acceleration lag. Thankfully it was a simple solution. Thanks again.

    VW TSI 1.4 90kW. O man, only after replacing the N75 and the N249 a few minutes ago I saw your post/video. Thanks. 'll clean and exercise the actuator and hopefully will solve my problem as well.

    Thank you for this video! You've saved me a real headache. I noticed a bit of a flat spot in the acceleration on my Golf (same engine) around 3k RPM. I just checked my wastegate actuator and it was sticking just like yours and really rough in its travel.
    A few squirts of WD40 and levering back and forth with a screw driver (no access to compressed air) and it moves very smoothly now. A quick test drive and there is no longer any flat spots, really smooth acceleration.

      Yeah they can gunk up pretty easily. Very disconcerting when you try to overtake with no boost!

    Very help your video. Well done and keep helping. I would like to ask you after cleaning the turbo rod (that was getting stacked) with the K2 Pro Vulcan spray did you put any high temperature grease or you left clean and dry?

      Thank you! I've put some grease, but it melted after a drive. There is nothing that can withstand the temperatures in that area.

      Maybe try aluminium spray from liqui moly. Us I remember it can works with about 1100 or 1400 🌡️

    How do you replace the N75 valve? It is bolted on to some kind of hose assembly that has to be removed? Great video by the way.

    Dzięki za filmik to jedyne nagranie Gdzie można zobaczyć wymianę zaworu n75 to było bardzo pomocne w moim przypadku objawem było poszarpywanie silnika przy obrotach 1200 do 1800 na 3, 4, 5, 6, biegu. Po rozebraniu sprawdziłem także łopatki turbiny oraz sam jej sworzeń i wszystko było w porządku, a dzięki temu zaoszczędziłem na niepotrzebnej regeneracji turbiny, koszt naprawy 70zł (ok 20euro)

      Thanks for the video, is the only one recording for tsi where you can see the exchange of the n75 valve, it was very helpful in my case, the symptom was to rupture the engine at speeds 1200 to 1800rpm at 3, 4, 5, 6, gear. After undressing, I also checked the turbine blades and the bolt itself, and everything was fine. Thanks to, that I saved the unnecessary regeneration of the turbine, the cost of my repair PLN 70 (about 20 euros) Thanks a lot, hand up 👍

      Sorry about the delay. The software ia called torque and you need to have a bluetooth interface plugger into the car. My interface is a 5$ chinese one, but be careful as I heard stories about sone of them causing problems. Try to buy it from a place that has ratings for the product.

    Hello my friend, thank you for the informative video
    I think I might have the same problem, here is my situation:
    When I drive with my OPEL ASTRA J SPORTS TOURER 2014 (1.6l diesel ecoflex) sometimes on the highway suddenly the motor light pops up andthe car looses its power. So when i try to accelerate (100-120 km/h with fifth gear) the engine light pops up and when I try to acceleratie nothing happens ( the speed don't get up and neither the speed frequency). After I turn the engine off and on, the light still pops up but I can drive normally (sometimes it's just goes away after a while) it's everytime at the same speed that I get this problem. I went to the dealer for a diagnosis, the code p0299 popped up and they said it could be anything : egr, turbo,...
    So you think it could be the same problem?
    I tried to download 'torque' (iphone 6) but I did only find 'EOBD-facile' you know this ?

      It's quite hard to diagnose this problem without some real time data, so my best advice is to buy the bluetooth interface and find some friend with an android phone to install torque and see what informations you can get from your engine.
      Sorry that I can't give you a better response, but sadly I'm not familiar with your engine.

    well i check my boost - in any gear in full throttle max boost is 0,7 bar...
    Do you think that problem is with N75 valve or i need to buy new repair set wastegate 03C 198 722 and change?

      Sadly, I'm unable to give you a definitive answer. I would probably try the cheapest solution first.

      Afaik, the turbocharger in CAXA is designed for max 0,8bar. I guess you will never get proper values over OBD because that pressure is calculated. You can read the intake manifold pressure and substract the ambient pressure. This is the approximate boost charge.

    I tried to do it with my Seat leon 1.4 tsi, I have Stage 2 Intercooler + Downpipe, when I put alot of oil makes alot of smoke but it doesn't solve the problem, it lose alot of power at 4k rpm, If I buy hybrid turbo it will happen the same?

      In my case it was the wastegate that sometimes got stuck and I just had to do about 100 to 200 full length movements with and air compressor. You can see that in the video.

      Use another type of wastegate. There are a few models on ebay. Just search for "wastegate caxa".

    salut, am un passat cc 1.8 tsi, pe stock masina merge perfect cu 0.4 bari dar pe stage 1 la revo masina trage sugrumat si in suturi, pe logari se vede clar ca nu face boostul cerut,am schimbat dv-ul si nu am rezolvat nimic....crezi ca trebuie sa verific actuatorul sau chiar sa schimb n75?

      Sincer nu stiu ce sa iti zic. Nu mi se pare o problema mecanica daca masina merge ok pe soft stock. Mai degraba ceva nu e ok din soft. Desi un unele cazuri tunning-ul accentueaza unele probleme deja existente. Incearca sa faci cam ce am facut eu in video si poate reusesti sa iti dai seama care e piesa cu probleme (sper sa nu fie de la soft si sa cauti aiurea).

    Local driving the turbo boosts 100%
    As soon as I go on a long journey the turbo looses boosts at times
    Especially going up a hill
    Took the car to a Volkswagen Dealership and they say the actuator rod is jammed so I should replace the Turbo
    Do you think if I clean my actuator it should get solved?

      Also, do not change the turbo, as you can buy a separate actuator from ebay.

      The app is called Torque, as for the adapter, just search for bluetooth odb on ebay.

      You can only access the motor and check/clear it's errors. Nothing else.

    Hello my golf 7 1.4 tsi has this problem. When oil is cold car will clear epc and engine light but once oil gets warmer to 70 degrees epc and engine light comes up it will go away if I park it till engine cools down? What do you think?

    I've got exactly the same CAXA engine in my 2008 VW Golf 1.4TSi. I'm experiencing a very minor problem when I take off from a standing start. The throttle seems to have a sort of delayed reaction between my pressing my foot and the engine revs rising. Always from low revs only [well from what I can see]. I have no check engine light on the dash. Before I dive into any/all of this, any suggestions on what it might be ? I've read about people saying a sticky turbo actuator can cause problems, but they don't seem to be talking about the exact problem I have. Many thanks in advance.

      Pfff...I have no idea. Could be many things and combinations of things causing this. Maybe even your throttle valve is sticking a bit.

    Excellent video, thanks! I have the same CAXA engine and learned a lot form this video. I have the same error P0299, but I believe it is a different issue. My turbo pressure only gets to 4 psi max and I believe the turbo was blown in the past as there are signs of smoke. I also notice some strange behavior on cold start (overnight), it looks like turbo starts to spin repeatedly 3-4 times until the engine gets warm, then it stops. I plan to check the condition of turbine as on video 10:37. I would also try to inspect components according to this video (th-cam.com/video/NqOQ-7lHktk/w-d-xo.html). Maybe I would need to go with turbo replacement, but we all know how expensive this is.

    Salut, am un golf 6 1.4 tsi 122hp. Am inceput sa pierd puterea indiferent de treapta de viteza . Face des cand am putina benzina in rezervor ( fara rezerva ). Adica accelerez si dintr-o data se taie acceleratia moment in care iau piciorul de pe pedala de acc. si calc imediat pedala de acc timp in care si-a revenit puterea. Inca nu am ajuns sa fac o verificare. Asta e problema din video ?

    Hi, what kind of grease you used to lubricate it? My car motor was deep cleaned and now I'm facing same problem.

      Some random high temperature grease. But I expect it does nothing, as it melts away. The part where I use the compressor to do a few hundred full cycles probably fixed it for me.

    Salut,as avea si eu cateva intrebari. Eu am CAXC si intalnesc o problema cu lipsa puterii sau de fapt urca greu in turatii (pedala la fund si urca de fapt ca si cum ar avea jumatate de turbina) Nu am eroare nu am nimic pe tester,am avut o eroare de sonda lambda in urma cu vreo 2 luni dar atat. In rest merge rotund,consumul e ok dar performanta e mai slaba.

    Salut. La mine face ceva aparte, intre 2000-3000 rpm, cand accelerez brusc, parca isi pierde puterea pentru o secunda, dupa isi revine. Asta doar daca apas bursc pedala de acceleratie.
    Din ce an au fost reviziute piesele ?

O sa fac si eu procedura de curatare pentru ca deja am 110.000 km. A mea este 2010 final dpdv al productie si sunt curios daca are sau nu membrana de cauciuc . A ta ce an este ?

    Salut. Am din pacate si eu problema cu P0299, se comporta in urmatorul fel: masina trage super misto cat e rece motorul, cum se incalzeste efectiv pierde puterea, se simte exact ca un 1.4 aspirat. Am incercat sa dau cu WD40 pe actuator, dar nu a ajutat deloc. Nu imi dau seama cum sa bag o surubelnita sau ceva de genul sa il misc de cateva ori. Ai vreun sfat, fara sa dau jos turbina (nu am compresor la indemana)? Cu ce grasime sau ulei as putea da, sa reziste si la temperatura? Ma gandeam la ulei de motor, dar acela e prea lichid si dispare repede. La service-uri habar nu au de aceasta problema si sugereaza schimbarea turbinei, ceea ce este absurd. Multumesc

      Salut. Din pacate fara compresor nu cred ca ai cum. Eu zic sa mergi la cineva sa iti dea actuatorul de la wastegate jos si sa il cureti bine in alcool sau ceva de genul. Sunt si actuatoare aftermarket, in caz ca al tau nu se mai poate curata bine.

      @@UltimateDIY Mersi de info. Am căutat și piesa de schimb, dar nu pare să se găsească. Cel de la Forge l-am găsit pe site-uri în Austria la 200 EUR, ceea ce mi se pare mult, turbina second cu totul fiind 900-1000 lei. Dar nu as vrea să o schimb cu totul, turbina fiind bună.

    The waste gate is getting stuck all the time the ecu tells it to close. Replace the turbo set.

      +Józef Kawa not really sure exactly what you are asking, but from what I remember my interface is an elm 327 and I used torque, so I don't see why it wouldn't also work for you.

      That is huge. For sure this motor will not handle that much on a daily basis, so probably that is the maximum the turbo can make, but it's not what the engine uses. From what I find the N75 valve for example is designed for about 12 to 14 PSI.

      my car (caxa 122hp 1.4 tsi) holds 16.5 psi according to Toque programme and I sometimes get P0299. According to what you say, I have to increase the wastegate arm length and decrease the pressure at which wg opens. Otherwise n75 would leak and I get P0299. What do you think?

      +Victor Frankenstein does it seem to have more power than before? I've heard of something like this when the wastegate fails and it overboosts, so it creates more power than it should. Feels nice for a while, but not good for the engine. Check if wastegate moves freely and it's membrane does not have a hole in it.

    My wg is stock one. My acceleration feels very good after using 1.6 FSI but sometimes I get P0299 and the engine goes into LIMP mode.

      +Victor Frankenstein then I can bet that you have exactly the same problem that I had. The wg gets stuck open from time to time. Try to blow air in it like I did and maybe you can get it to work right. In my case maybe even some oil from the compressor that got in with the air helped.

      +Stauros Sotiriou hello! Yes, just cleaning, greasing and forcing the actuator to do about 100 or 200 full travels with compressed air. Car is still ok after about 2 months. If your problem is exactly like mine, there is no need for a new turbo. For an even better fix, find someone to take off the wastegate actuator and give it a good clean also on the inside with some alcohool maybe (that is what I will also do if mine starts sticking again). Dealers honestly have no clue and they take the easy (but really expensive) solution.

      Thank you my friend and your video was really good and informative.Mine is not that bad yet but because i have 1st stage ecu chip tuning sometimes with 2nd gear i dont get over boosts and simply it just goes to 0.8 bar with some difficulty i might say and stays there.If i do 2-3 good runs then it unblocks and i have over boosts like its all good.But i want to catch up with the problem since i saw your video.Thanks and keep it up man

      The caxa 1.4 (122) doesn't have a intercooler. It is a watercooled cooler located in the intake manifold. Unfortunately the cooler is only made for around 150hp. I just had the cooler replaced because it was leaking coolant. It cost me almost 1000 euros (€982.10).

    Salut, am urmărit videoclipul tău deoarece masina mea are aceeași simptome. Îți mulțumesc mult pentru informații, sper ca am sa reușesc sa îmi repar și eu masina. As dori sa te întreb de unde ai luat N75, eu locuiesc în Austria dar am cautat pe net sa comand piesa și nu găsesc decât originale adică sa o cumpăr de la VW. Îți mulțumesc anticipat.

      @@UltimateDIY acum am desfăcut turbo și într-adevăr actuatorul (nu știu cum se numește în romana) nu culisează decât foarte puțin. E cam înțepenit, trebuie sa îl imping eu înapoi destul de tare ca să se reîntoarcă la poziția inițială. Am început acum cu compresorul sa ii fac o mișcare de du-te-vino, sa speram ca își da drumul...
      Mulțumesc mult pentru ajutor.

      In sfârșit, cred ca am reușit. Am făcut exact după indicațiile tale din videoclip și a început sa culisele bine am repetat de câteva sute de ori, am pus totul la loc și am încercat masina. Acum pare ca și-a revenit și merge din nou bine. Iti mulțumesc încă o data. Multe salutari!

    Salut. Te rog mult, daca te poti uita pe videoul meu sa mi dai o parere. Face acest sunet doar la accelerare mai brusca si atunci simt dintr o data ca smuceste si intra turbo. Turbina este reconditionata recent si nu are erori. Valva n249 am verificat-o, este revizia E fara membrana si functioneaza perfect atunci cand o testez la baterie, am masurat si vine curent la ea la accelerare. Poate sa fie n75 problema mea? Precizez faptul ca furtunul care vine la capacul de protectie al motorului, unde face vaccum, nu sta foarte bine are mufa sparta. Totusi se aude un zgomot putin mai metalic dar in acelasi timp atunci intra "boost ul". Ms mult

      Salut. De "scartaitul" acela zici? E posibil sa se auda wastegate-ul cate iti ramane intepenit. Furtunele trebuie sa fie in perfecta stare, daca ai pierderi pe la ele nimic nu functioneaza corect. Da, poate sa fie chiar si n75, dar mai degraba as rezolva furtunele si as verifica daca se misca usor clapeta wastegate-ului.
