    Hello Joe and Gift, thank you for the update on the house and especially the pool. The pool guy knows the company product, I am sure when the boss said we have special for Mr. Joe, he jumped at the chance to get out of the office. The quality of these subcontractors all stems back to your main contractor and his experience to know who are the best people in the industry there. I am sure by now your's and Gifts reputation as very good owners to work for is becoming widely known in the building industry there, and they are returning in kind with their best workmanship. I like the pool guy, would you like large chips with that order, meaning when you said "we travel a lot" he said "we can do a contract to service the pool" LOL. This is starting to get to the sharp end of your home construction and getting exciting. Good interviewing skills Joe and a great update 10 / 10. Keep well stay safe.

    Joe, the rough concrete that was poured at the pool is what we in (construction) call a " dry bottom ". It is very beneficial. It stabilize the soil from rain water and ground water intrusion, allowing the pool construction to continue unimpeded. Your contractor is doing a very good job for you and Gift. Looking forward to future episodes.

    Hi Joe and Gift, I’m a long time viewer, first time subscriber and rare commentator, but I wanted to write and thank you for sharing your experiences. I for one have found them entertaining and very informative. I lived and worked in Thailand for for over 7 years before returning to the UK with my wife in 2006. We have always dreamed about returning and retiring in Thailand and specifically Phrachuap Kirikarn. Took a trip down there once and loved the area and how less developed it was back in 2004. I’m sure it’s changed!
    Hoping to get over later in the year and look for land or property, so please don’t stop creating content, it’s valuable.
    Thank you

    A lot of people do a salt pool because they want to avoid chlorine... but in truth the sanitizer uses salt to make the chlorine, which does the sanitizing. An electrical current is used to turn salt into chlorine... everyone’s experience is different so I’m looking forward to hearing how this works out for you.

    • @MrEye4get
      @MrEye4get 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The noticeable difference in saltwater pools is the conditioning (softening) of the water; less chlorine smell and gentler on the skin. Monthly costs are about the same, if you factor in chemicals and electricity. The most up-to-date salt water systems can maintain a clean and sparkling pool for up to two weeks without intervention. A traditional chlorine pool requires weekly maintenance with chlorine tablets or sticks added regularly.

    • @btingey
      @btingey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrEye4get I’ll have to respectively disagree. Owners of the last two pools I’ve built abandoned “salt” within a year or two and went back to chlorine... the design engineering company I use builds multi million dollar pools all over the world and they refuse to use “salt” because of corrosion issues and the liability that comes with it... then there’s the little secrete no one wants to talks about... that salt in the water draws out fluid and oils from skin cells causing premature ageing... these issues have been argued for a very long time now with both sides convinced they are right... so everyone has to decide for themselves. Both options will sanitize a pool. If I was building a pool for myself/family, I’d stay with chlorine.

    • @formworksucks
      @formworksucks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@btingey You're talking out of your rear end mate. The salt content is a mere 3000 parts per million, you can hardly notice it.

      I lot of the old buildings over there are not earthed or (Grounded for Usa). The pool steel reinforcement in Australia is earthed back to the switch board. Google how many people die in Thailand from talking on their phone while it is plugged into a charger. Tourists touching unearthed steel poles that have power points attached dying. (Residual current device) is compulsory on every circuit lighting or power in Australia. These isolate the power supply in milliseconds.
