      Hi all, no this hasn't got traction tyres. I do really like the 57. I bought a cheap virgin one and a new Network Rail body to swap over when I get around to it.

    Looks and sounds lovely Michael. Thanks for the mention BTW. Are you going to build a bigger layout, Coaches with this will really set it off. ATB Stuart

      I don't have the space for a big layout. I am just starting a 12ft x 1.5ft layout for photography more than anything else. I love love something bigger but the roof is too low here.

    Just out of curiosity, is the Hornby HST the original Lima model? I mean using the Lima manufacturing tools, if that makes sense?

      Sorry Michael I missed this. This is what the Hornby site states: 'Upgraded for 2023, the Hornby Class 43 pack includes lights front and rear and well as motorised fans in the roof and a kinematic coupling system. Fitted with a 5 pole motor and dual flywheels the motor car is all wheel drive. Both units are fitted with 21 pin DCC sockets and pre-fitted dual speakers which allow for the use of sound on DCC as well as offering greater control of the lights and fans.' However, I can't see any fans on mine!

      @@modelrailwaynoob many thanks for your reply! Certainly nice looking models; greater spec than my original Hornby HST which I acquired in the mid 1980's. Although, I am still rather fond of it, and quite an accurate reproduction for its day. Thanks again

    All you need is a matching rake of Mk. 3 slam door coaches, and there is Mr. HST complete. If I'm right, the number of coaches between the powercars is 7. You might not be able to fit that many in. Add 2 coaches and see how it goes.

    • @modelrailwaynoob
      @modelrailwaynoob  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have 8 matching Mk4s because I also bought a class 90 and two 91s but no space to run them at the moment.

      @@modelrailwaynoob Mk. 3s are better suited to HST powercars, so make sure you purchase some. Mk. 4s aren't the right type, so ditch them and the Class 90 and 91s, you don't need them. The HST is made up of two powercars and slam door Mk. 3 coaches.

    Very nice looking HST's , sound locos always seem to have the volume quite high from new . I turn the level down as they do sound better .

    Has it got speakers / sound decoders in both units or just the power car ? I know when you bought TTS decoders for the older Hornby HSTs they came as a twin pack.

      @Harp-House-Halt If you can find a good price and I know Jedlam were good, it is a lovely set. Someone else asked me about the fans which are not present and traction tyres; also not present.

    Hi, this does sound good for the HST’s, it’s such a shame how limited the Hornby sound decoders are, I guess for the money they will sell well and all the problems that have been highlighted have been sorted from a year ago, does this set have working fans? I hope they’ve been sorted because the sets I purchased were very noisy and annoying, modellers have had theirs burn out in some cases, I just disconnected mine until I can sort out a better way for them to work instead of the underdeveloped corner cutting units Hornby have put in them, the noisy fans didn’t in any way stop the power cars running very smooth and problem free, for those modellers on a budget it’s a good move, maybe Hornby will look into dcc decoders that can have more access like other premium decoders on the market, I really like the BR intercity blue/yellow/grey livery as worn by original hst back in the mid 70’s, hopefully the prices will come down to a price I’m prepared to pay so I will have to watch fellow modellers videos of them doing what they do best, thanks for sharing.

      I didn't check the fans to be honest. I certainly didn't hear them. I'll have a look next time I get it out.
