Another great video Graham. Oh wow, I haven't been on a bus for, oh ages, but that really does sound how I remember them, especially going through the gears. Makes all the difference to the model though. Whomever invented sound chips for model railways really has improved our hobby so much 🙂

At last I have found someone who has fitted sound to the Derby lightweight and shown how they have achieved it. I've been puzzling over the best possible fit and positioning for awhile but not happy with my solutions, You have shown me the way thank you and and thank you for sharing.
@@stickman18 Thank you for the very kind comment sir, it’s greatly appreciated. The installation of the decoder, stay-alive and speaker wasn’t too bad to be honest, the hardest part and time taker was getting the body shell off and then back on again - that took the most time as I was fearful of breaking something off but luckily with a bit of care then that didn’t happen. When you come to do yours then just take your time and be careful with the small details on the chassis, they are very delicate. Hope that helps and cheers for now. …………..Graham
@@johnodonoghue7381 Many thanks John and I’m pleased that you enjoyed the video, just a short one to give you an idea of what I’ve been doing to put sound into the Derby Lightweight. The next one will be about putting a stay alive into the Locomotion 1 - should be fun! 😂. Cheers for now. …………Graham

Hi Graham, you just have to love the sounds of those first generation DMU's. I had a Bachmann 108, I had wanted to fit sound in for years, but couldn't decide who's. In the end I went for Wheel Tappers Sound as they had the option for manual gear change which I though might be an interesting feature to have. I do love the sound of your DMU though, very nice indeed. You even went to the trouble of cutting the seats back, I managed to get a sugar cube speaker and sat it on the seat. Your's is a better engineered solution....................All the very best, Dave
@@stretchedits Hi Dave, funny thing is the the sound decoder I fitted into this is a Wheel Tappers Sound too! This includes the manual gear change plus a host of other things too. The sound from that speaker isn’t too bad considering that it’s not that big, it will do for me though. 👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ………….Graham
Thanks for the video Graham. Good timing, I've already got a 121 single car DMU, with sound already fitted. Today ordered a class 101. No factory fitted sound on this one. So been looking at options. I'm not as clever as you , perhaps I'll contact Richard from Roads and Rails to fit for me. Hopefully Going to get him also to replace the standard speakers in my class 37's. Cheers Mike.
@@michaelclaydon1200 Hi Michael and thanks for the comment my friend, it’s greatly appreciated sir. Derby Lightweight sounds great, for me this would be the main benefit of having DCC (still DC 🤔) and of course the slow running setting, thanks for sharing Graham, regards Barry.
@@barryturner2916 Hi Barry and I agree with you 100% mate, it’s not just about the sound though, it’s also the other function and as you say, the slow running facility you can achieve with DCC, but everyone to their own choice, I would never poo poo DC, it just depends what you want from your layout. 👍🏻.
