My husband died 16 weeks and 2 days ago. Last night my passenger headlight in my 2004 Durango went out. Today, with the help of this video, I replaced both the passenger and driver side by myself. So, thank you. Thank you for making this new normal, new journey a little easier on me.
This video helped us out immensely! Husband's headlight went out, too late to take it somewhere and needed the vehicle before daylight tomorrow. It took us awhile, but got the headlight changed and and put back together. Thanks for your help!
I just finished this job and this was a very helpful video thanks. Inner to the 10 mm bolt you get at from the back is a white clip holding what I'll call a peg on the assembly. It's the last thing holding the works in other than the wiring, if you left that connected. It's supposed to pull straight out but on a 12 yo vehicle that white clip is a real son of a biscuit. Broke one but everything seems fine with just the three 10 mm bolts holding things in place.
Exactly, that one thing prevented me from removing the assembly. I ended up just removing the main bulb thru the opening. It would have been good if the video included a section on "if things get wrong"...

Good, helpful video. Except the two bolts on my drivers side aren't lined up with the grooves on the outside of the assembly. At least I know to use a 10 mm socket now, thanks!

Thanks greatly appreciated. When pulling the headlight out there is a white plastic retainer clip that the headlight snaps back into to hold it in place. This clip broke. I'm not sure of the proper name for this piece nor can I find it on the internet I was wondering if you know the proper name and where I might find this the headlight is drop down because this piece is missing appreciate the help thank you.
Directions are perfect. However, when removing the passenger side I found one of the 10mm bolts and the retaining clip for it missing. Any idea what the part number is for both and where I can buy the replacements?

I'm staying at a Ronald McDonald House while my daughter is in the hospital.(for 2-3 months) I got my headlights in the mail and I wanted to put them in right away, but they didn't have any tools available for me. So.... I figured out how to change them with just a pair of fingernail clippers! One other requirement tho....you can't have giant man hands. I just opened up the little trapdoor used the end of the clippers to pry the red tab up, twisted the bulb out, swapped bulbs and reverse. 😁

I just completed this on my 2005 Durango. When pulling the light assembly out, the small white-ish plastic pieces that the back studs of the light assembly go into broke. What are they called so I know how to order those?

Shouting out thank you.. What's a manual book for when it's no good for you. From headlights to fuse etc. my manual do not tell you about fuse panel plus it's not labeled what fuse is what just a dang on diagram. Oh yeah I changed both headlights. Thanks again

Tried to take it to local auto parts store and they got the bulb out without having to take the headlight off, but part of the old bulb got stuck, got it out but some kind of green piece came off with it what is that piece?

If you just need to replace the bulb, you may be able to reach behind the headlight (if there's room) and remove it that way. If there's a trap door in the fender well that enables you to gain easy access you may be able to replace the headlight bulb that way also. Let us know if this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
It's entirely possible without removing the whole assembly. Just be careful as the move the new bulb into place so not to touch the glass of the new bulb against any contaminants. I've owned 2 of these and replace headlight bulbs many times that way

Oh my god I'm disgusted with how they placed the lights. I had to change my tail light and it wasnt easy. All the bolts and plastic clamps and wires. I dont need to change my headlights just wanted to for cosmetic design. Sheesh

Adjusting the headlamps, "One way adjusts up, one way adjust down". Which is which?

So the bulb doesn't come out thought the trap door in the fender well? You have to pull the whole light assembly?
If you just need to replace the bulb, you may be able to reach behind the headlight (if there's room) and remove it that way. You definitely can change the bulbs without removing the whole unit.
5 mins tops....side of the road no tools.
