Some songs of this game reminds me the last grade of the high school (in 2008, release year of this game), in that epoch I liked a pretty girl and these songs brings me that nice memories. Also brings me some nostalgia.
And here I am, replying to a video posted over a decade ago . . . This is such a great song, but also an unfortunate reminder of how some things can be lost in development. Much of Silent Hill's music was created based on game scripts, including vocal tracks. While this wasn't a problem in Silent Hill 1-4, Homecoming was rushed and unfinished (as both Microsoft and Konami wanted it out on the 360 as quickly as possible), so much of Alex's underlying story was left on the cutting room table. This regrettably means that aspects of this song don't fully "click," as it was written and composed prior to the game being rushed out the door. The biggest thing that the song alludes to is that Alex was meant to be an unwitting pawn of the Old Gods. A "soldier," if you will, and his purpose was to destroy the sect that failed. Since the Otherworld amplifies delusions, Alex's own personal struggles became the means through which he was manipulated. Travis Grady (of Silent Hill 0) played the part of a ferryman. Much of this was to be covered in the first "level" of the game, wherein you played through the military operation that Alex was supposedly wounded during. During this sequence, Alex receives communications from his superior officer that hints to the nature of Alex's upcoming mission. Much of this has been surmised from unused but recorded dialogue, which the game has *a lot of*. I don't know if the original opening would've been too much, but I feel like the game, given a little more development time, could've been far superior to the product that was released.
He is like Maria on SH2, he was born from a wish, The Soldier is the monster version of Alex the teen, he appears to revenge the kids, and himself. Now the subplot probably has to do with the abuse, the same subplot of The Shining, not a big surprise with Overlook prison. This explained why the final boss is Lillian and Josh, but not Adam. BC like Jack on The Shining, Adam was a very bad man, and lead his family into destruction, and not bc of the ritual, more like the abuse. Put Alex like a pariah, and probably abuse of Josh. This makes Lillian in silence, but constantly scream inside. A reverse plot of Laura Palmer of Twin peaks, what if Laura is a teenage boy, and he still can't protect his brother for the hands of his father. Therefore Alex failed to his mother, and his brother, he should do more to protect them from Adam. This explained the concept of Hellhouse, Robbie the rabbit like the bear man on The Shining, and also The Boogeyman, or the faceless man. The plot still needs to be more polish, will be easier that Alex was in a sort of The Order's School, and he learned how to fight, since he is in training to be a soldier of The Order, so we can see him as a renegade soldier, which somehow that's the real plot (the soldiers of the order fight exactly like Alex in the game). Alex is against his will in a hospital after a breakdown, but then, why they gonna make him a lobotomy?, nonsense at all, unless his story will be similar to Stanley SH3, and he knew a lot about the order, that's why he is there in a sort of lockdown, probably they are using White Claudia, to keep him crazy, and ready for lobotomy. After that, he won' t be a problem anymore. Too bad this plot wasn't use by the director of Revelations movie, Alex could work better as a love interested of Heather, and also a renegade soldier of the order, better than Vincent. Sh1 to sh3 are almost perfect games, but the big irony is SH4, and SH5 are the ones that need a big remake. Orgins should be on this list too, after a remake of SH1 OC.

For understand this game, you need to watch Donnie Darko, they focus in this movie, apparently, that's the key of this game, since Josh wasn't the sacrifice, Alex needs to live in this new reality, to face the truth, that his own sacrifice will save a lot of people, therefore he embrace this second chance to do things right, and be a hero for his brother, and the town. A soldier will sacrifice for his squad, in this case his family.
"A soldier's got to have his gun..." -Curtis as he gives Alex his first gun in the game whilst this track plays in the background PS. Seriously, has anyone played Homecoming? The guns are basically the Big Fucking Gun 9000s of the Silent Hill universe in this game.
Probably he knew Alex wasn't a soldier, but also the concept of the song as a soldier isn't about guns, and combat. SH is showing him what is gonna happen if he skipped his sacrifice, therefore like Donnie Darko, he understand his mission, he needs to let this world in that bathtub by his father, bc in that way his brother will live, and all the town will be safe. Very sad game, but Alex is indeed a soldier for that. Double Helix doesn't want to let him go, bc he is a great character just like Donnie. but that's why Alex is gone in four endings, and also the town showed him two graveyards, as a hint of his real destiny. TRIVIA: *At first when Alex gets off the stretcher, there's a clock in that room. It's the only clock in the game that seems to work, it wasn't even two o'clock in the morning yet. then there's an entity that's killing the doctors of the place, and when the protagonist tries to escape at 2:06 in the morning (time of the accident) something doesn't let him out of Alchemilla. so the nightmare begins within the nightmare, from there time's stopped and everything takes place in alex's childhood in S.Glen in the 80's. you'll see objects from alex's childhood scattered around the scenarios, and also relics such as old cars and public heritages. in this case this game is timeless.. (however there're endings where he actually escaped from Hospital)* *When you arrive in S.Glen, next to Dr.fitch's office there's the city bank with 4 lights on, 3 of which're bright and the last one's almost off (symbolizing the 4 families). Suggesting that the bank's still active with secret meetings, throughout the game the building remains linked with people on the premises arguing who knows what. It's one of the mysteries of the game that everything's abandoned but the financial part of the city's still in full swing! kidnappings have become a kind of business...* *if you look at alex's house from the outside, it's empty giving the impression that the shepherds have moved but when you enter the house, it's fully furnished but completely abandoned (the mirrors still reflect no furniture inside). looking through the backyard in the kitchen part this becomes more apparent (giving a paranormal air of the house being an ancestral ghost of the city).* *the woman locked in the hotel can also be the manifestation of alex's mother living in the world of the dead and him living in the world of the living, both're separated by a hole in the door that looks like the mouth of a monster. the 3 memories illustrate "the day of the accident" and why his mother was catatonic, it's implied that she committed suicide with that old gun and alex's at his doorstep talking to her. there're layers of SH that you can only reach if you're dead.. (there're also indications that it was curtis who built the machine that Lillian is trapped in, then it's possible to see his mother's corpse smiling.. of relief perhaps)* *in the dr.fitch office there's an underground passage that leads to SH, this otherworld passage's the mix of a hospital and the institution that alex's in at the beginning of the game. some hallways're the same as the protagonist walks in the prologue. It's also more apparent that Alex's exploring the characters' minds and their memories\secrets..* *this game starts in the late afternoon and culminates in a red dawn, it's notable that there's a change of climate similar to the original games. it was the first time anyone came out during the otherworld outdoors, alex was the only protagonist who saw the parallel world from the outside.* *There're Alex's toys locked in the attic of the house (also in the audio of the tape, Alex's father tells him to "go down the stairs") implying that Alex was locked in the attic and forced to sleep alone there (a dark place full of spider webs and venomous animals) in the infernal version, there're 4 monsters that represent each member of the family (in the attic there're 3 schism which're the dead Josh, the catatonic mother and Alex crouched in the corner of the attic) and in the lower part of the house there're the more aggressive schism who is alex's father. What confirms this symbolism're the four mannequins that're in the same position (including one lying down and the other propped up in the corner).* *if you analyze the drawings and read the descriptions, it's understood that there's an urban legend in S.Glen related to the lake (that's why the docks gate's sealed) by an alleged man who threw himself into toluca lake years ago, this story was told to scare the local children and this collective fear manifests itself as the executioner that exists in the game. So in the part where alex's with josh at the lake, james's still decomposed there in the depths and on the other side of the lake's possibly the abandoned car with a dead body locked in back seat. James' wife belongs to the same family tree as Alex (The Shepherds) although they're not related (in a promotional diary: Alex's mother was invited to attend a funeral for a childhood friend, but the funeral never took place) There's a misterious tomb named "someone's wife" in the Dargento Cemetery, but this grave has never been used. (The shepherd family mausoleum is not found in S.Glen, only the other 3 families. However, there's an abandoned mausoleum in central SH: where's a puzzle about entities with a common ancestor that were separated)* *Next to Curtis' junkyard's an abandoned mine that possibly became a secret passage to SH in the final stage of the game. The lair was where people were taken to be tortured and killed by order. it's located in the basement of the church, the only sacred place in the city where it's not affected by the other world. In Curtis' warehouse, many belongings of everyone who lived in the city're hidden and also the special clothes that Curtis wore.* *There're x-rays in alchemilla that show injuries that the protagonist suffered at the end of the game (including the brother and judge) means that this game's upside down: it starts at the end and ends at the beginning, if you reverse the acts, it's alex going from the day of the accident to the hospitalization in alchemilla in the prologue. crazy huh? (Travis was tasked with transporting the patient since he was familiar with Toluca County and worked at Brahms Station, Alex's parents lied to the city that he was promoted to the army so they wouldn't lose their last son) still characteristic the journey starts in a way and turns into a whirlwind.. there's a real pyramid involving judges, politicians, doctors and police forces\dynastic families (as if everything happens in our world and not just in a nightmare).* The layers of Alex personality are represented by fog (sadness) and coming from the other world (hatred esentment), how he feels at every moment depending on what's discovered evealed. This game is introspective as f00k! more than it seems...

there is not a single silent hill game i dislike, i am quite a fan of the series and i trully don't see why people have such a hate for homecoming and downpour, they are all great games.
G Studios Most of the hate for Homecoming comes from the fact that it tries too hard to be SH2. Personally, I think it uses the same recipe in a different way, and dont hate it, but I definitely see its flaws.
It's mostly because plot consistency just flies out the window after the Room, but it's not fair to keep people from enjoying games that you find enjoyable.
Thats why Silent Hill 2 remake is too important, bc if this game is a success, the saga will return, and the sequel of SH2 could be make, and that's SH5, the story of Alex Shepherd but by Team Silent. Konami could contact Owaku for the plot, and Yamaoka could make the lyrics again. This time Masahiro Ito will make the monsters, and no more PH.
More like a funeral, which that will be a good plot, their father already passed, but haunted them from the other side, that will be a more interesting dynamic similar to SH4, but kind of different. BC we gonna see all the crimes that Adam did to them.
@@rosyhobbit294 The Lucifer version the singer has more control of the situation. He knows he is going to win. That's not including the context of it. There is also a greater range of emotion.
I agree. I used to hate Homecoming but playing it and seeing the potential the game had, only for it be rushed makes me nit only appreciate it, but I give Double Helix a lot more leniency
I remember how I got SH - Homecoming as a birthday present from my mom when I was 10. It was the first game I owned on my Steam account back then. Good memories, maybe I should replay it?
I got Homecoming right after I got my PS3 GTA V bundle about a decade ago. I actually enjoyed it, kinda scary at times, especially the graveyard and junkyard areas. Good times.
@@kellustzall3057 Can it be this be? or is it? I believe it's expressing doubt about what they are experiencing. Can it be? or is it that? I think it did what it was supposed to do, in that it really doesn't explain anything other than the feeling of disorientation.
FS, since the OG Team was working in a soldier game, before Konami merge the studio with MGS4. As a fans we never knew how much of the OG game is part of Homecoming. Tomm Hulett was never clear about this I remember that the look of Alex was done by Team Silent. But I don't know if the name was also part of their ideas. That's the importance of SH2 remake, bc if the game is a success, the saga will be on, and maybe they will release SH5, the OG story of the soldier. Konami could contact Owaku for the plot, don't forget SH5 is a sequel of SH2, that means SH5 should be next, after this remake.
I will admit, the combat and music was great. But I can say, when put up against Silent hill 2 and 3, it cant compete. Not saying it wasnt good, but it wasnt The best like some say.
That's bc the message wasn't very clear, SH bring back Alex not to be a GIJOE, going deep down in the concept, he needs to be a soldier by sacrifice, if he wants that his brother is alive, he needs to give his own life in the bathtub, which is one of the endings of the game, and in that ending is the only one where Josh is still alive. This concept is probably borrow from Supernatural, one time Dean gave his life to save Sam, bc his brotherhood was very strong. So Alex was indeed a soldier after all, he was very brave.

It's also more apparent that Alex's exploring the characters' minds and their memories\secrets..*
*this game starts in the late afternoon and culminates in a red dawn, it's notable that there's a change of climate similar to the original games. it was the first time anyone came out during the otherworld outdoors, alex was the only protagonist who saw the parallel world from the outside.*
*There're Alex's toys locked in the attic of the house (also in the audio of the tape, Alex's father tells him to "go down the stairs") implying that Alex was locked in the attic and forced to sleep alone there (a dark place full of spider webs and venomous animals) in the infernal version, there're 4 monsters that represent each member of the family (in the attic there're 3 schism which're the dead Josh, the catatonic mother and Alex crouched in the corner of the attic) and in the lower part of the house there're the more aggressive schism who is alex's father. What confirms this symbolism're the four mannequins that're in the same position (including one lying down and the other propped up in the corner).*
*if you analyze the drawings and read the descriptions, it's understood that there's an urban legend in S.Glen related to the lake (that's why the docks gate's sealed) by an alleged man who threw himself into toluca lake years ago, this story was told to scare the local children and this collective fear manifests itself as the executioner that exists in the game. However, there's an abandoned mausoleum in central SH: where's a puzzle about entities with a common ancestor that were separated)*
*Next to Curtis' junkyard's an abandoned mine that possibly became a secret passage to SH in the final stage of the game. The lair was where people were taken to be tortured and killed by order. it's located in the basement of the church, the only sacred place in the city where it's not affected by the other world. In Curtis' warehouse, many belongings of everyone who lived in the city're hidden and also the special clothes that Curtis wore.*
*There're x-rays in alchemilla that show injuries that the protagonist suffered at the end of the game (including the brother and judge) means that this game's upside down: it starts at the end and ends at the beginning, if you reverse the acts, it's alex going from the day of the accident to the hospitalization in alchemilla in the prologue. crazy huh? (Travis was tasked with transporting the patient since he was familiar with Toluca County and worked at Brahms Station, Alex's parents lied to the city that he was promoted to the army so they wouldn't lose their last son) still characteristic the journey starts in a way and turns into a whirlwind.. there's a real pyramid involving judges, politicians, doctors and police forces\dynastic families (as if everything happens in our world and not just in a nightmare).*
The layers of Alex personality are represented by fog (sadness) and coming from the other world (hatred
esentment), how he feels at every moment depending on what's discovered
evealed.
This game is introspective as f00k! more than it seems...
i love this song, and i love this game, it was the first game i played in the SH series and it's also my favorite so far, i haven't tried 2 or 3 because i don't have a PS2 but i do like the first
Do you have an xbox 360 or a ps3? :) If you do you can get the Silent Hill HD collection and you can play 2 and 3 like that.
Never play the Silent Hill HD collection, It's an awful version with terrible voice acting (People say that the voice acting in the original version of 2 was bad but don't know that the characters are just supposed to sound off like they are)
ozzman123 heard that the silent hd collection is awful, I own it and I can't really tell what's so bad from it so if you really wanna play it, then you can easily get it from the PlayStation store
Good for you I kinda dislike Homecoming but that's because it never put me in suspense for some reason.
@@bloxdlust To put it simply, the creators LOST the original 2 and 3 games... So instead they used the incomplete beta. It's a glitchy mess. They might have patched it though...
such great lyrics
Underrated SH game tbh. Definitely one of my favorites, and this song is, well, the whole game.
2019 and loving the game I still play it❤️
i dont know why people dont like this game, its really good, i would say that konami did a great job here
Travis Grady listened this song wile driving his truck!!!
True
My Favorite out of all of them
And I do love this game all the time
“Guess who boys? My, My, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any of you in the flesh…Perhaps we could call this my ‘triumphant return to the flock’ as it were? HAHAHAHAHAHA!” 😈

there is not a single silent hill game i dislike, i am quite a fan of the series and i trully don't see why people have such a hate for homecoming and downpour, they are all great games.
i agree they all are good, some of then better than others but everyone of then are good
G Studios Most of the hate for Homecoming comes from the fact that it tries too hard to be SH2. Personally, I think it uses the same recipe in a different way, and dont hate it, but I definitely see its flaws.
It's mostly because plot consistency just flies out the window after the Room, but it's not fair to keep people from enjoying games that you find enjoyable.
Resident Evil has the same problem, if not worse.
True mate.
My favourite one was shattered memories.
Wish they make new silent hill.
I love this song
One of the best Silent Hill stories. 2021
This and downpour have the best Storys ❤
The most confuse too, sometimes looks like Donnie Darko, some others like Jacob's ladder, and some others like The sixth sense.
best song
It's cold on the streets of silent Hill. But to warm us for the holiday season ; Silent Hill Ascension has been released. A free phone app game.
This time Masahiro Ito will make the monsters, and no more PH.
the artwork reminds me of the Godfather
Jessup Jones how so?
Think you downloaded the wrong copy mate
More like a funeral, which that will be a good plot, their father already passed, but haunted them from the other side, that will be a more interesting dynamic similar to SH4, but kind of different. BC we gonna see all the crimes that Adam did to them.
esta chida esta musica de SH homecomig...saludosss...
Lol...Alex is the strongest main character in all of silent hill series,no doubt.
Gabo Santore Alex is a "Soldier"
And Travis is Chuck Norris
harry is besto daddy and heather is the best waifu of the silent hill series
@@gabo_santore Not the only. You forgot about Murphy.
You guys forgot about James Sunderland
It's not a bad game and I haven't played it yet
For those who have a bad dad.
Came here to hear the original after hearing PARANoiD DJ's cover of it for Hazbin Hotel Lucifer. Looks like I am not the only one.
aLso BLack Mass Lucifer is funny
ngl, i like the lucifer cover much better
@@rosyhobbit294 I think I agree.
@@t-wolf8502 the vibe is just so much more rich imo
@@rosyhobbit294 The Lucifer version the singer has more control of the situation. He knows he is going to win. That's not including the context of it. There is also a greater range of emotion.
this song its fantastic.... soo creepy!
I still play homecoming on my Xbox one still better than new horror games
This game is ficking awesome compared to he shitty FNAF games.
That end boss is a pain in the ass though
It's different to hear all the breathing during singing.
Not very common in music.
Who's your favorite game character in the silent hill series :P
my favorite character in the silent hill series: every single one of them on the same spot, there isn't one thing in the series i dislike!

@@thenameless2410 yup, 5 and downpour are awesome games
@@ElanVR awesome sauce

This and Downpour got way more criticism than they deserved
Yes
I got Homecoming right after I got my PS3 GTA V bundle about a decade ago. I actually enjoyed it, kinda scary at times, especially the graveyard and junkyard areas. Good times.
YES!!!!
Love the song, but never understood the lyrics "can this be, or is it" what exactly?
Christian Lorentz Perez I think it's about something is already a certain truth but we just don't know
@@kellustzall3057 Can it be this be? or is it? I believe it's expressing doubt about what they are experiencing. Can it be? or is it that? I think it did what it was supposed to do, in that it really doesn't explain anything other than the feeling of disorientation.
I grow cold.
Ceremonial F*cking Dagger!!!

Why does this song have 2 versions?

Nice.....
The most polarizing installment in SH.
Inspirated in Michael Jackson? This sound is fantastic. Congrats.
(Michael Jackson - Give In To Me)
Wait, so DJ PARANOID copied this song???
he did'nt copy he made a cover, unless that's what you meant
2024🥺♥️
Man when they said i.v update was gonna overhaul yiik they weren't lyin'

As much as this is the worst Silent Hill game i have played, can't deny that thr music is still damn good
The game is s**t but Akira & Mary are awesome as always
naw, alex theme in sf3 is better
I prefer the version PARANOiD DJ Hazbin Hotel
Homecoming sucks ass, worst silent hill game. The only thing "silent hill" about it is the music. The music kicks ass because my boi akira yamaoka.
Just a Trash Player the game isnt even bad at all. It could have been better, yes. But its definitely not bad.
@@Qunarr You know what you might actually be right. I played this game with very low expectations and the first hour was actually really promising. It's also a nice return to Silent Hill since 4 pretty much ditched the whole rural creepy town to an urban city feel which is all fine and dandy but I dunno I prefer the rural setting.
@@Qunarr you think this is bad? You obviously have never played book of memories that atrocious Dungeons & Dragons type of game

Yeah Akira Yamaoka can't control the game devs unfortunately lol.
