Those aren't bluegill. I had to look at a Sunfish guide and best I can come up for a sunfish with an ear flap that long and one color dark, and a red overall coloring is the Redbreast Sunfish. We could talk coloring and conditions and season all day long when it comes to sunfish, but the ear flaps on many of those he caught are quite long.
Thanks for watching! You are right- they're long eared sunfish. It's been a few months since I fished for them and I definitely try and use correct species terminology but wasn't really thinking about it
Good video work.

Well the reason you're missing them it's because you got your drag something loose. So before you set the hook you got to tighten your drag then set the hook. If you leave your drag loose it's just going to stretch the line out give it loose line and it's going to get off. You really need to learn a lot about fishing. Don't come down here to the Gulf because we leave our line real loose so the fish hits and it just keeps taking the line. Then when we're ready we tighten the drag down set the hook and then it's on. But most of us use circle hooks because they suck themselves you don't set it. But if you leave your drag loose like you did and you tried setting the hook you just stretching off the line. Really? I just can't believe you're doing that.
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHERE TO GO FISHING
