I've looked at dozens of reviews, and I really like the Falcon 20. It sounds great at volumes low enough for the neighbors and is loud enough for the gigs I play.
Something I think about a lot is that I like a lot of bottom end tonally so gravitate towards bigger amps and cabinets even though I predominantly play at home - even though power wise a small combo would suffice from a volume perspective - obviously the multi watt feature helps on the volume front!
I am trying to come back to guitar. I've been away for a few years, meaning a bunch this has been very informative. Uh, I have a few fine guitars and I really need the proper amp. You have enlightened me, by the way, you really play well
I have tube amps from 12 to 100w in at least 5 steps. How big you go has more to do with the room volume/background noise for me. If I needed 1000w I could use a pair of 3-500Z’s , but for work, it was a 1200w ss unit for the ship’s PA so we could sail when the Bogen failed the smoke test (e gen over voltage when the regulator died). Have fun
If Gibson builds a QuadRaxis, I’d consider it. Otherwise, I’m done with Gibson’s Less-a-Boogies. In the meantime, I’m struggling to get my Mark V properly serviced. Sigh.
I ran into a situation where my local authorized service center didn't have a working tech. So I emailed the Mesa factory in Petaluma, California. After some Q&A, they decided to have me ship them the amp head. My issue was strange noise that seemed to appear after about 30 or more minutes of operation. They worked on it for a month before finding the cause. So I would recommend that you try to get the factory to fix it directly. If you have already, hmmm. Have you tried a Fender Champion?
I took a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Mod 3 Limited Edition and built a head amp cabinet and a speaker cabinet to work 2 - 12" JBL's 2130 and sub-bass, a 2-way JBL SF-20M, Sansui tweeters then ported. I did another speaker cabinet to use a Bugera T-50. The whole idea is a long story, but I'm curious if people do stuff like me and make their own electric guitars to record with?
Not sure why a dual channel would require more maintenance, the technology required for channel switching is pretty simple. I’ve serviced many amps and I have never seen any increase in maintenance or care required.
Tube amps needs lots of ventilation, cabinets it is sound porting. I have to keep the tube envelopes below ‘that’ temperature so they can live another day. ‘That’ temp is in the tube manual, and with CPU’s lower is better. Have fun
It will take time but modeling amps will take over. It is to a point that it isn’t worth the cost and weight. Buying a fender tonemaster showed me just how close the technology is. Why have twice the weight and the added price over a digital amp that is 95 percent there?
@@6120orange Wow :). Man it sounds also nice... I have seen on some videos, and looks cool. :) Sure Mesa Boogie is out of my reach, and I already have one small bedroom tube amp, but I like Mesa, and Gibson amps even though not suitable for Europeans, and expensive...
Everything you need to know about tube amps in one comment.. Tube amps are overrated and highly over priced THEY DON'T MAKE YOU SOUND ANY BETTER! A ss amp is the better alternative.. Here's why.. Most SS amps have built in effects which help you to save money on effects.. Most SS have effects loops where most tube amps do not and you're forced to run effects in fron of the pre amp.. Maintenance cost, tube amps are extremely expensive to keep and maintain you could blow up a SS and buy a replacement cheaper than one tube app visit to a repair person.. We live in a budget minded world and the vast majority of us are playing smaller venues and let's be honest the only one who knows you're using a high dollar tube amp is you!The audience could care less if you're using a Squier strat and a SS Fender 1x12 as long as your playing is on point.. In over 30 years of playing I've never not once had someone ask me about my gear, NOT ONCE! They could care less, all they care about is if you're playing at your peak.. To many people equate money with skills and it's100% wrong! If you hand JB a $100 knockoff and a cheap SS amp it's going to sound great because the skill out weighs the gear.. High priced gear sits in shops all over the world making no music, sooo what are they really worth? It's never about the gear, it's always about the person using it and what they've achieved with what they have available.. High priced gear is obsolete, it doesn't make you any better and in 2024 it's nothing more than a a stamp of prestige or a talking point... Manufacturers have forgotten that a instrument hanging on a wall making no music has no value! It's not about them,it's about us who make their products what they are.. Without us their products make no music and sit collecting dust... It would be wise for companies to remember that and start putting players before 500% profit margins.. Also youtubers don't sell guitars! These companies give youtubers instruments and money for nothing! I've never once ever bought an instrument based on a review or someone else's paid opinion! TH-cam sales people push me away from brands, they make me not want to purchase products just because they're reading a paid for scripted review... Have a great day!
@@CharlieMoney777 It's an opinion held by many! Your probably a person who spends x amount of dollars thinking you'll be noticed or somehow magically sound better 😂😂😂 What's that really say about you?
@@AbstractZombie-ed8fj I’m ’probably’ nothing, because YOU don’t know me at all. Just guessing. And all you did was spit out a long winded opinion. Everyone has one, but not everyone needs yours.

That ‘bout covers everything. That 2x12 diagonal recto cab - damn
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@b3pahunter546 I love that amp.

As always, just choose the amp that works for you!
This video is gold, it could have saved me some time and a lot of money fooling around buying stuff I didn't really need.
Thanks for being here! All part of our tube amp buying journey, my friend!

Welcome back!
Good job sorting out the basics. Kudos. Main thing is follow these tips then trust your ears in whatever venue you strive to succeed in.
I agree! At the end of the day, always trust your ears and play what sounds good to you! Thanks for watching!
Hi Dinesh, as I'm watching this video, my foot is resting on that JP 2C you sold me about 8 years back? Good to see you even if it is only in video.
Please consider a re-issue of the Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp. A great Mesa/Boogie product from the past.
Definitely have to purchase the Dual Falcon!!!
Thanks for making the video
No problem 👍
Gorgeous guitars, awesome amps and powerful playing! Great information too… helpful and accurate. Thank you kindly!
Thanks for being with us and watching!

I own a Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne combo! What category would that amp be put in?
No, i gave up and bought a Roland JC-40 instead after blewing up 3 tube amps, and dropping another.
Oh wow! That's a lot of amps!
Very useful and easy to digest breakdown. Nice work gibson.
Thanks for watching!
Hey. Idea. Falcon Head. Good talk.
Single channel, more reliable and easier to service. Channel switching amps usually need maintenance and care, that's all I know.
Not sure why a dual channel would require more maintenance, the technology required for channel switching is pretty simple. I’ve serviced many amps and I have never seen any increase in maintenance or care required.
Nice amps, just not for us Europeans 🤑🤯
Why are there so little open back cabinets when the combo has an open back often the head plus matching cab is closed back?

Where is the Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic
discontinued many years ago
