I'm so sorry I don't usually get so OCD so thank you Austin Jesus it just won't get to the your channel name right all right I'll stop here sincerely Bob the blind bedroom guitarist
I got my son to sleep early tonight, was ready for that 7 pm upload. When it didn’t come, I knew I was in store for something special. Trog doesn’t disappoint!
I am the guy who was in for the Dokken Les Paul- I did buy it! It's currently being shipped to me. Buying from Trogly has been a dream of mine since I was 13/14 so it feels insane to be mentioned, even in passing, in one of his videos. He is absolutely amazing as a seller. If you're considering a purchase from him, make the jump! I'm looking forward to many happy years with that guitar.
Trogs, the gold fret wire is formally known as Jescar EVO. It is a proprietary nickel free alloy originally developed for eyeglass frames for people with nickel allergies. It is harder than nickel steel but not as hard as stainless. I love it on mandolins as the high tensions tears through frets but have never had it on a guitar. I'm sure I would appreciate the durability.
Thanks for sharing your collection once again. I know it’s a lot of work and I believe you said last year at this time you weren’t sure if you were going to continue doing it. 👏
For museum reasons it might be worth hanging onto that Explorerbird, it would be cool to have a little section devoted to unique uses of Gibson headstocks like the Trini Lopez/Aldo Nova/XPL series. Obviously it’s not as great, but it’s one of those “outside the box” things that Gibson does that people don’t expect from a traditional guitar company
The Old Hickory LP, Koa Top SG, GOTW SG with gold hardware, Basalt Blue Deluxe, 1980 Cherry Sparkle LP, and the natural finish '74 LPC are my favorites. Such an awesome collection
well you have a great collection of minty Gibson guitars for sure. something to be proud of as we know you worked hard to find them. congrats on the collection and thanks for sharing.
One of my favorite vids of the year. Of course I have to stock up on a couple 12 roll packs of paper towels to control the unstoppable fluent drooling but it's worth it! I envy you greatly sir. There is absolutely no question, you have the best job(?) in the unstoppable rapidly expanding universe. I wish you the best in 2024 and hope you knock out a big chunk of your want list. I'll be here chomping at the bit, waiting for the next video. Guitar Godspeed Gibson guru! \m/
I just recently found your channel while looking for an SG Custom demo, which I am glad I found because I didn't like how it sounded lol, but now I have been going through all of the videos and it has quickly become one of my favorite channels. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years, and I have learned so much more in the past week from you than I had in my entire time playing. Thank you for that!
On your first table, the “ shrunken” Explorers is not an Explorer model… they are Futura’s… I work at the custom shop… I’m the guy that picks out the wood, at the warehouse, with help from rough mill and management (of coarse)… that body shop is a Futura my friend. Thank you for your support of the Gibson brand and all you do. God Bless
0:30 Happy new year trogly best wishes from my family to yours!! THANK YOU for all the awsome content!! love learning about COOL HISTORICAL GIBSON GUITARS AN HISTORY!!
What a collection Austin! One to be proud of! I love the lighter colored sage green bohemian SG! Blue goddess SG is also very sharp. Also looking forward to a review of that 1975 LP Custom "bearded lady" you picked up. The tobacco sunburst style finish wouldn't always be my first choice but sometimes when you see a nice one it makes for a sharp looking guitar! Love the silver 25th anniversary LP Custom as well as the sunken treasure LP. Really like the 1969 LP Deluxe and 1972 LP Stereo model to name a few more! Happy New Year Trogly!
The Matthias Jabs Explorer is my favorite. Loved those guitars since I was a young kid seeing Matthias on MTV playing them. Also the reason I later bought an Explorer (although it was a Hamer Standard and looked nothing like the Scorpions guitars lol)

I remember when I first stumbled on troglys show and I forced myself to watch it because I didn't realize how comprehensive and informational it was. I soon learned the trig rules and has become my favorite all time series. Right up there with ancient aliens which stays on a continuous loop in my blu-ray ha ha. I dig the ambassador tour idea because I think it be fun as a small group excursion. I'm mostly into checking out the 67 Jimi Hendrix v. Bless
Have you seen the "demonstrator" Les Paul that popped up on Reverb? It comes with about a dozen extra pickups that swap into the body? If not it's currently sitting at $4,500.
I really love these year end collection vids and the recap format is great cause you can take more time on each one! In this case the SG showcase was really fun, seeing them all in one place together. In old age I finally came to own an SG after wanting one since I was a teen, and I love it (2018 SG Special w minis). Only able to afford cheap used players grade guitars these days, but I'm really wanting one of those new unique SG Standard colors. Be a while before one shows up used.
Man every time I see that angus young sg it just makes me excited that angus sg has been my dream guitar for 4 years I hope to own one eventually. I’m not the real angus
Love the look of the M3, but I can’t imagine having a large collection like this. I’ve got like 12 and sometimes that seems too many. Ye gods, the insurance alone…
Trogly you do realize, you are responsible for all of our Gibson love too, your the go to channel for learning all about the different models, thanks Austin.
Love me some Explorers! I have two, one Ebony, and one designer Explorer from mid 80’s with the stripes on it, which I really don’t like but it was the first Explorer I found so I had to have it regardless of stripes. Ever since I saw Dave Grohl play one in 1995 I had to have one and I still love to see him play them on stage. Last time I saw him play one was the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in LA.
As I watched this upload, I'm watching the motion picture from 1985 called Explorers. Pretty fitting when you go back for a recap of the first 15 minutes here.
It's crazy to watch a video like this while i play my 2008 LP 60s standard that i paid $1800 for in 2008 (with an amp btw) and also have my 2015 LP standard which also has the slim 60s neck (my absolute favorite Gibson neck) and think of how difficult it was for me to even own just two LPs, lol. While our boy here goes through 10k guitars like changing shoes or something! Hey, if i had the funds i might do the same. Some absolute beauties in the collection! I especially love LPs with the black accents, pick guard, knobs, etc. Especially on those aged white ones or a gold top! Love that.
1:08:05 those are my favorite. goldburst and the sprayed over goldtops. I have an Epiphone studio in a Tobacco burst that is clearly oxblood.. now styled after that XR-1 but with a black chrome pickup cover and ESP style carved access to shaved and TruOil neck (CA stabilized). beyond that the DIABLO SG would be the only dream... get a ZOOT SUIT and GOLDBURST it. if I fall asleep YT defaults to the Fakepit video or one of the year end videos.. I know the long collection has played a few times over. or Simon Whistler. lol IDK man
Any Gibson I fantisize about would HAVE TO HAVE black speed knobs... cheap upgrade but sexier than others. I like Telecaster knobs too, beefy feel compared to my SquireStrat old crappy.. but one day, one day... My brother sold his 77 SG before I could talk him out of it. He said it wouldn't stay in tune excuse... it was a gourgeous woodburst to black with one of the humbukers swapped with a Dmarzio super distortion from the 70s, he got 3500 hundo for it and I saw it online for 5k....At least I got his old Marshall and he willed me his Forrest Lee B-bender Tele... dark blue with black paisly.
Yep, you da man Trogly. People whom have profited from selling a Gibson, yah you, you might think about kicking back a little to Mr. Trogly, because part of that increased value is directly due to his work highlighting the instruments. Mr. Trogly, you might consider giving away a couple of those personal tours to less fortunate guitar loving followers of the channel, if you don't already. I guarantee you will love doing it! Thanks for the memories!!
Plz understand that, In 1991 or 92, everytime we would go to the mall, I would go to the music store- Gerreros music.. I kept picking up the same Matsumoku made Westone Spectrum LX & one day my father purchased it for me along with the case. A (198-mbk) ALL black Westone Spectrum LX. Idk much about American guitars. I have absolutely fallen in love with Japanese guitars! I like your Matsumoto guitar!
Wow you are lucky,so much guitar to choose from and here i am with my broken squier guitar,i guess life is sometimes unfair. Enjoy it while you can and live your life to the fullest, rock on.
You are so lucky, I wish I could afford one Les Paul, when I was younger playing/touring in the late 80's early 90's I was playing Kramer's, Hamer's and Fender's. They all were destroyed in 2005 when Katrina flooded my apartment I even lost all of my cool vintage tube amps. The only caveat is that after Katrina I wanted a vintage tube amp so bad I used my electronics background and started building/modding tube amps. Mostly I take existing vintage tube amps and convert them to guitar use. Anyhoo, thanks for showing your collection.
I'd LOVE one of those black tops, but I'm in Europe, so buying it from you doesn't make much sense, unfortunately. But those black ones were my favourites from all those custom colours.
Now we are ready to see your amp collection Austin, you must at least have two for that stereo guitar right,I know you have a princeton, but forget what you use to play thru, that would be cool if you could include it in your next video, how many amps do you have. 🤣👍
I’m a big Gibson Les Paul guy, and this one at 11:24 looks sick. The neck is beautiful. Would love to see Gibson to do a special run of something like that.
Austin, I have been trying to find the answer to this question. Were there any Norlin era Les Pauls (that were not customs) that had the burst on the back and dides?
the black two are my first choice i wish i had the dough, ive built fuzz and distortion pedals for over a decade for my living, infact i remeber watching some of your first videos, wanna trade a bunch of custom built pedals for one of them which ever has the biggest neck. i know you need cash. but dang id love a black standard with a huge neck
Trogly, in reference to your Epi LP that you had Sweetwater soup up, at least I care. I love it. One of my favorite vids of yours and one of my favorite guitars in your collection. I hope it gets played :)
Phenolic is pronounced Phen-all-ic. You always say fennel-ic like the spice. My New Year’s resolution is to get Trogly to pronounce it correctly lol. Still love ya Trog

Lot of Explorers and that walnut es 335
I got my son to sleep early tonight, was ready for that 7 pm upload. When it didn’t come, I knew I was in store for something special. Trog doesn’t disappoint!
Happy new year
Wow, the stars & stripes Explorer totally has a 70s Evel Knievel vibe. Love it.
i thought it was the confederate flag
I am the guy who was in for the Dokken Les Paul- I did buy it! It's currently being shipped to me.

I have a BFG in Black... A very cheap Les Paul when I bought it from M/F for under $900... Humbucker 3's bridge P90 neck..
Those Kaller bridges are great for tuning on the fly. I've got one on my 70s BC Rich eagle and my Charvel/Jackson model 6.
well you have a great collection of minty Gibson guitars for sure. something to be proud of as we know you worked hard to find them. congrats on the collection and thanks for sharing.

47:21 that sparkle top deluxe....looking forward to that video and wondering what I'm going to pawn off in order to buy one 🎸
Been watching for about 8 years now and ALWAYS look forward to these year end collection videos. Thanks for what you do Trogly
Beautiful collection 👍a luthier advised me to keep the pickup switches in the middle position ! So there is no tension on them !
Congrats on all the sweet acquisitions! I love that you say you’re not that into Explorers or Flying Vs and still bought 20 of them in a year haha!
I love collection vids! That 76 explorer is killer! I do have a request, find and review a "painted over" series les paul from the mid 2000s.

Thank you for putting in the effort again this year, I know it is a lot of work. I look forward to the yearly collection video.
The colors of the wood on the “old hickory” lp are fantastic. Also, the sunburst 20th anniversary lp custom and the 76’ tuxedo custom lp are nice.
Trogly you do realize, you are responsible for all of our Gibson love too, your the go to channel for learning all about the different models, thanks Austin.
Proud to say, I've watched every episode for the last few years.
Here's to another great year in 2024.🎉🎉🎉

I wish I would have kept my MIII black with the tiger pick guard.
beautiful explorers :))))))

Is there a converter ring to enable one to fit mini humbuckers to a full size routed body?
And that cherry sg with the white pick guard too it definitely reminds me of one of angus’s SGs even though it was black too
"i am not the biggest fan of SGs"
goes onto to have a dozen of SGs
Shout out from Barrow Alaska.

or Simon Whistler. lol IDK man
22:28 I really like the look of that shell pink double cut modern but it doesn’t look like a Gibson
0:24:05 I really like the color and figuring on the top of this guitar. The body shape reminds me of some of the late 80s/early 90s Ibanez guitars.
Any Gibson I fantisize about would HAVE TO HAVE black speed knobs... cheap upgrade but sexier than others. I never looked at an explorer twice then i started watching this channel. I have 3 now it has become my favorite guitar. Rip allen collins
Really love the two Les Paul Standards in ebony 50s and 60s.
If that tuxedo is still available I'm interested!
This video is by far the very best I've seen this year.
Awesome Content Austin, Thank You
Happy New Year HK. May the Lord bless you with health and happiness this year Sir.

Explorers are my favorite basses. Actually, the original Kelly basses. I am only 5'5 but it is still my favorite.
Yes!!!! My favorite video of the year!!!😊
I'd LOVE one of those black tops, but I'm in Europe, so buying it from you doesn't make much sense, unfortunately. But those black ones were my favourites from all those custom colours.
That Old Hickory is fantastic!!!
that hcb custom light lp is sick! 53:25
hope the modern double cut returns
Z is for Happy New Year Trogly and Troglydytes.
I'd love that Union Jack .. way too much $$$ though.
Also don't forget those 16 guitars he has at the luthier, those are going to be killer!
After years of having Les Pauls. What would you say are the best options for someone who has a limited budget and wants to have as much for the price?
Now we are ready to see your amp collection Austin, you must at least have two for that stereo guitar right,I know you have a princeton, but forget what you use to play thru, that would be cool if you could include it in your next video, how many amps do you have. 🤣👍
I love, love, love that charcoal metallic custom.
YOURE THE ONE WHO GOT THE YAHOO EXPLORER?!?! i remember seeing the listing pop up and chuckling over it
I’m a big Gibson Les Paul guy, and this one at 11:24 looks sick. The neck is beautiful. Would love to see Gibson to do a special run of something like that.
Old Hickory is a great one! th-cam.com/video/Sb6DwwyrLmE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUSdHJvZ2x5IG9sZCBoaWNrb3J5
Some of them on the ends of the tables made me nervous.🥴
Austin, I have been trying to find the answer to this question. Were there any Norlin era Les Pauls (that were not customs) that had the burst on the back and dides?
I’ve been looking for that holy explorer anyone know where I can find one?
what guitar is Martin Barr playing on the cover of the Benefit Album--Jethro Tull--thank you
Hello, @3:18 regarding orange explorer... looks like center line is not center to tail piece? Could it be a Chibson? Or Gibson flaw?
the black two are my first choice i wish i had the dough, ive built fuzz and distortion pedals for over a decade for my living, infact i remeber watching some of your first videos, wanna trade a bunch of custom built pedals for one of them which ever has the biggest neck. i know you need cash. but dang id love a black standard with a huge neck
I always look forward to this every year!
Have you ever reviewed one of the camouflage Gibson Explorer III with the P90s? Favorite explorer ever!!
Trogly, in reference to your Epi LP that you had Sweetwater soup up, at least I care. I love it. One of my favorite vids of yours and one of my favorite guitars in your collection. I hope it gets played :)
Wes Paul is glorious. Don't you have any Jazz Boxes any longer?
I know this video is a lot of work, but thank you for sharing your fabulous collection. I enjoy this every year!
Love the explorers!!!❤
The angle of the floyd on that Judas Priest V hurts to look at.
MORE TAK MATSUMOTO LP'S HECK YEAH!!!! Hopefully his truly signature doublecut
I think you’ll be pleased!
"I shelled out the 20k just for you guys" right
… I did. If it wasn’t for the review, I wouldve passed on that release as I anticipated a slower turnaround time for it
Phenolic is pronounced Phen-all-ic. You always say fennel-ic like the spice. My New Year’s resolution is to get Trogly to pronounce it correctly lol. Still love ya Trog

That old hickory is beautiful
I like the fact he used baby blankets for his babies.
Well said, enjoy life while you can. If they were worthless they’d still be beautiful.
I'd love to see Nigel Tuffnel get a tour!!!
