    That Eucalyptus Green is a beautiful color. I can't afford one, but I sleep much better at night knowing someone is taking these old pieces of coal and turning them into priceless diamonds. Thank you for doing what you do.

    I really like the minimalist design which masks how much complexity is in the truck.

    If I could own only one automobile my whole life, it would be an Icon. This is American Manufacturing at its best. Keep up the good work guys.

    I actually quit watching any T.V and now watch these videos..this Fj is another example
    of perfect execution (me being the perfectionist type) I cant find any flaws or anything
    that could have been done different..these ICON'S are rolling National Treasures.!
    Just kidding about the T.V but these videos are better than 99% of what's on the tube.

    This has to be my favorite FJ ever! I love the hard top on these old FJs! Everything serving a purpose, and so well thought out. Now if only I could afford one....

    I’ve had 2 FJ40s. One stock 69, 3 on the tree. One 77 with leaf over, power steering and a V8 by Earl Warden and me...built in Corvallis Montana after he retired. This FJ is an absolute dream. Wish I had the means.

    You should consider doing more research on ICON and all the vehicles under its name. These vehicles are completely custom. Yes, they are pricey, but you have to see through to what J is saying, it's all about the craftsmanship. To be really honest if you are in love with something, your going to do what ever you can to acquire said item. J these guys don't understand what you and your wife have created and see in these vehicles. Love what you are doing!

    This guy (JW) is fantastic. I bet if you asked him about the door hinges or the windshield gasket he'd talk for 15 minutes about how it was made and why it's the best option.

    Actually, Jonathon is following a tradition from the very very earliest days of FJ modification by installing small block Chevy V8's like my Uncle who installed a Chevy 350 in his in the early 70's to travel motor down the Baja peninsula.
    TMBS, I do have a soft spot for the inline 6 Toyota diesel which we don't see here in the US, and, regarding other Toyota sourced petrol engines, Jonathon addresses this issue in another of his (Jay Leno's Garage) videos.

    ...most certainly one of the most meticulous jobs of ingenious design one has ever seen - fantastically done and demonstrated guyz! ‘brutally expensive’ one has to follow up on. The lure of your unequalled standard is hugely overpowering. Will find out where you are and follow up. Greetings from ZA and the Fairest Cape of Good Hope - slowly emerging, passionately emerging ex the CV and damnable ZA political stranglehold of the past quite a while. NEVER ÉVER say die...Beste!

    I actually find a few of the big changes a little TOO modern but I'm really biased against new cars. These things are amazing though and I love the workmanship, I also really like how you explain the price point at the end. New cars are shit, primarily because they are built with the wrong attitude. This is built with the right attitude - no question.

    Yeah I used to have a 73 FJ-40 and when I was looking to buy it one of the things I hated more than anything was seeing the chevy bow tie on the grill of an FJ-40 and would automatically walk away from the purchase. My next FJ-40 project I plan on putting in the 3.4 tacoma engine with a Marlin dual T-case set up and TRD supercharger. But dont get me wrong I really like ICON's work their trucks are top notch for sure but if I was to spend 100g's on one I would want it powered by Toyota.

  • @gibbethoskins8621

    Awesome truck, just a couple of thoughts, I do a lot of off road driving and I would say that LED mounted at the rear under the bumber would likely be ripped off on tough tracks, and it looks like the exhaust muffler sits quite low. Adjusting these to sit higher would be a wise move. Love your work

  • @kellysandford1877
    @kellysandford1877 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey John, I wouldn't really consider the front suspension to be triangulated. The pan-hard does the locating. People might get confused.
    I'm a huge fan and I assume your attention to detail would transfer to your description of your products.
    Love the videos and the vehicles!

    Too bad nobody does this in Costa Rica, there´s tons of these laying all over the place. Back in the day the cars to have were either a Land Cruiser FJ40 or a Land Rover. so much that Land Cruisers came with a factory sticker below the windshield that read "Otro Toyota", another Toyota!!

  • @BigpoppaKC
    @BigpoppaKC 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like one but I would'nt want it to be powered by anything else other than a Toyota power plant, I know the big chevy V8 has more power and all but I think one of these ICON FJ's would be perfect with a 3.4 Tacoma motor and trans with a Marlin dual case set up maybe even with the Tacoma TRD supercharger or a newer land cruiser motor set up but I never like it when I see a big domestic motor in a Japanese legend such as the FJ40.

    Pressed tube axles with non removable third member....that are semi-floating doesn't seem right. Dana Spicer Borg Warner made them for manufacturers who were looking to save cost. Your vehicles demand a premium price. A full floater from an 80 series Cruiser with a high pinion and factory locker would be top shelf.
