    When I was living in Africa in the 80’s, I had a BJ40 with a diesel engine. There are unbelievably robust vehicles. I‘am dreaming of FJ44 from ICON, it will stay a dream. The engineering, the details, the quality of your work are exceptional. Thanks to your clients to give you and your team the possibility to express your talents and ideas. Congratulations.

    Jonathan, you folks at Icon do absolutely amazing things. I’m currently trying to restomod a 1979 that truthfully was probably beyond repair but anyway that a whole different story . I think that anyone that has attempted a rebuild can really appreciate what you do. Not only rebuilt but modernized and refined. Fantastic!

    Simply amazing Jonathan, how far you have come . The two things that I noticed right away are the motors and wheels your design and styling cues are truly timeless. Thank you for sharing with us Jonathan.
    Cheers.

    They’re all great. Really enjoyed watching the reel. My favorites are probably #140 & #162.

    The FJ's alone are unbelievable... the BRs, Derelicts... the ride has been crazy. Now, put me back on, and let's do another lap!!!!

    I just purchased ICON FJ40 #19 with the ram jet. It had mud tires that made the ride terrible on the road. Purchased BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A's which made the ride much better. Had the pleasure of driving #151 with coil overs and it did have a little bit better ride. But I'm very happy to own #19.

    I love how the lizard was used on 13 for the C in ICON. My favorite element in this video. Amazing to watch the transition over the years. Love these trucks, thank you for making this edit.

    Love your videos. I think people would like to see more ICONS out in the wild showing how capable they are on the trail. Plus I always like to see blooper reals.

    Love all the ICON vehicals you build, Johnathan! Wish I could afford one. I love ICON! 😃👍 Hate my bank account!😭 If I could buy one I would choose a Roadster Edition with satin sky blue and cortz white trim. My ICON would have a removable hard top painted sky blue and cortz white on top. The wheels would be new school ICON wheels painted cortz white. The ratiator grill painted cortz white. The interior gages would be trim painted cortz white. The carpets would be sky blue and white chill material color. The seats would be sky blue and the center would be sky blue and white chill material matching the carpets. The frame all black. Everything else would be done Roadster edition underneith. Just dreaming, Johnathan. That's all. 🤔 Maybe paint the bumpers cortz white. 🤔 Maybe a sky blue and coertz white steering wheel. 🤔 Great video!

    Can you comment on how practical it is to use these machines in daily use with stock engine? Or engine swap is must? Maintenance wise and feasibility of use?

      If you can use it in a place and manner where you can tolerate & appreciate the vintage archaic mechanical realities, leave it stock. If you’re trying to use it in a modern manner, at modern speeds, and with the ability to panic stop when the idiot in the Prius in front of you slams on the brakes to read his text… a complete chassis and powertrain redesign is a must.

    Will you consider getting any of the new sheet metal bodies from China that are showing up on the FJ40 FB. Looks like an end less supply of hard tops which can be put together for the FJ44 hard tops?

    Curious when you ditched the leaf springs for coils.

    • @ICON4x4Design
      @ICON4x4Design  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because leaf springs are an engineering detail left over from the horse and buggy days. Leaf springs just cannot give you a good ride quality, no matter what you do. Also, they leave the last bit of flex responsibility on the chassis, resulting in a very loose chassis design. With coil over suspension, the ride quality gets way better, as does the articulation.

    • @diyjeff1838
      @diyjeff1838 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ICON4x4Design oh I get the "why" leaf springs are archaic. I was wondering around what year you made the shift.

    What happens to the original bodies of the FJs?

    • @ICON4x4Design
      @ICON4x4Design  ปีที่แล้ว

      They get recycled back into the community as used parts, the bad ones get traditionally recycled.
