I drove both over 3 years ago and made the decision to get the Polestar 2. Even with or perhaps because of the changes in the Tesla Model 3, I still think I made the right decision for me. The Polestar 2 has been a great car that's fun to drive even for short distances. I have never wished it had more range or faster charging speed and I have appreciated the hatchback design and the thoughtful touches throughout.

I have also been driving P2 BST 1,5 years and it is just super enjoyable to drive.
My only worry is that I am afraid that I cannot get anything as good to drive as my next car.

@@ScottLeapman same. P2 DMLR is everything TM3 is lacking. Only drawback is worse efficiency. Really nice car. Feels like a Volvo, which is good in my opinion.

PS2 would be the obvious choice for me as well. PS2 Performance is a fantastic driving experience

I've been driving a PS2 for 3.5 years and would always choose it again, especially compared to the M3. The Tesla might be technically superior, but Polestar 2 is the better car. For me, it has just enough of anything. The ergonomics is what you experience every day. The hatchback was actually the main difference that made the choice clear for me.

I had a 2023 Polestar 2 LR SM. No packs. Great car. Was totaled. Polestar Vancouver didn't have a single car left in inventory because of the crazy lease deal April-May. I went for a Model 3 Highland and the car is so greatly improved I prefer it. The Polestar 2 is however far superior to the new Model 3 on the highway. Stability in the P2 is amongst the best of any car I have driven for that price point.

Polstar definitely.Ive test driven 3 Tesla now and I like the open glass feeling it gives but it feels cheap inside and still looks ugly outside. There's just better than Tesla EV's now.

    Great review Kris.
I have my 2023 Polestar 2 Performance now for over 15 months and it's one of the best driving cars I have ever driven. For people like me who like a dynamic driving quality car, the Polestar 2 checks every box for me and its just been superb as my work commuter. I'd buy another Polestar 2 again!

I thought we were going to buy a Tesla Model S, until I test drove one. It's a pretty expensive car, but it immediately felt cheap and ergonomically inferior compared to my 12 year old Volvo. We bought a 2023 Polestar 2 with the Nappa leather upgrade, even if the Teslas clearly beats it on range and efficiency.

Elon Musk have again given all electric car buyers yet another reason ( added to the multitudes he provided before ) to not buy a Tesla and supporting his agenda
There are better, cheaper and less controversial cars out there to buy.

Have had a gen 1 PS2 for 2 years and it has never disappointed. (Well, except for that cup holder situation) I have the dual motor and it is plenty fast, and the interior is just so good. I've been in model 3s and they just feel like being in a plastic box. The PS2 feels like it was designed by people who want the whole experience to be pleasant.
Sadly the PS2 is basically dead in the US due to tariffs. Wish I could afford a PS3 but it's a little too high for me.

I was choosing between these two back in early 2022. Loved the PS2 but I had problem with the left foot position (I know you also mentioned this back then) and despite 3 test drives I couldn't get it to work for me and also the Wavetech material in the seats were terrible for ventilation. I also couldn't live with the bad ergnonomics in the Model 3 so I ended up buying a BMW 330e instead.

I like the looks and design of the Polestar over Tesla, and the Interio has many issue on the Polestar, but the lack of controls on Tesla is not for me. I do also like the Hatch (yet, Sedan look) of the Polestar, and as a daily driver/trip car, I prefer how it handles. I LOVE how it handles. Polestar also has outdate Pilot Assist (which is functional, but outdated nonetheless). I like the color options and updated interior on the Polestar better. I just wish that you could get the batter of the Long Range Single Motor on the Performance Polestar (205 kwh versus the Performance's 150 kwh). Or are they changing that for 2025? Nappa leather is... Very nice! :) and the Handling... Have I mentionthe handlin on the Performance? Even the RWD is good! (without the Ohlins). I'm not saying its the better car, but Polestar is my car. Even in US, NO stalks for turn signals is... I don't like it. and Yeah. NO, not for me.

I hate the removed stalks in the model 3 and the center console in the polestar. I'll check out the Renault Scenic, might be a better deal and also comes with google auto.

If TM3P Highland was a hatchback with drivers display and stalks, it would be a perfect car at that price point.

I'd take it if only they used radar based ACC like every other car manufacturer. TACC and autopilot suck so bad, that they are unusable in many use cases. One phantom brake every 5-10 minutes on B-roads. I wouldn't want to spend $50k on a car that doesn't have functioning cruise control. Polestar 2 was much more relaxing to drive, I'll save up a bit, drive my old car to shit and then buy one.

  • @StaszekZlodziejaszek
    @StaszekZlodziejaszek 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    My answer is none.
P2 got too expensive after a facelift that changed very little. Today I'd pay almost €8k more for the same spec I ordered in 2022 and it's still a pretty cramped, noisy and energy-hungry car.
The TM3 is much better priced, but without turn signal stalk, lidar (phantom braking), parking sensors or rain sensor (the wipers live their own life) I wouldn't call it a full-fledged car. Even more, in my opinion, it is dangerous for the user and other traffic users. TM3 highland drivers have become even worse at using turn signals than BMW drivers and that's a high bar to set :)
If Tesla had offered a turn signal stalk, lidar and rain sensor as an option then I would definitely buy a Tesla.

I test drive it today at Polestar Fornebu and I really love it. However this year they made a lot of things “extras” and “packages” which just doesn’t sit well with me, the price ends up being too high. I do like the feeling of the car but I just can’t give in to these practices. Sure, Porsche is doing it, BMW is doing it, Audi is doing it but Polestar is none of these brands.
I would gladly paid Tesla model 3 awd prices for a Polestar 2 awd that includes everything the M3 includes, maybe a 10%+ on top just because I like it more than the M3. But that’s it

Biased against Tesla? Promoting Polestar? Only real advantages are the hatchback and drivers screen. I'm a Tesla M3 LR owner and took the PS 2 AWD for a test drive yesterday. Both excellent cars but much better visibility all round with the Tesla. Blind spot viewing excellent on PS door mirrors - better IMHO than Tesla on screen views. Missing a hatchback as I have a labradoodle and all previous cars were hatchbacks. My ideal car would be a Tesla M3 with a hatch and driver screen. IMHO more enjoyable ride and handling by the Tesla but PS2 is not far behind.

So compared like for like model to model vs the Model 3, the PS2 is slower, heavier, less efficent, has poor cabin ergonomics, less usable luggage space, terrible software, is built on an ICE platform with a large transmission hump down the middle, no access to the supercharger network and costs a whole heap more.
I can certainly see why Polstar are making profits in a tough market while Tesla is going bankrupt and why they sell more PS2's every 2 weeks than Model 3's sell in a year....oh wait that's the other way around ..🤣

    • @mho0
      @mho0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I have different view 😁
      0-60, Tesla wins
      Twisty road, Polestar wins
Generally Polestar wins driving dynamics part.
And is hugely better to drive during winter time/snow/ice.
New Polestar 2s are efficient - tie.
Erconimics: New Tesla do not have stalks, touch points in screen are too small. Polestar UI is easier to use and touch points are bigger. Polestar wins.
Polestar has more usable luggage space. Polestar wins.
Software: Tesla has more features and Polestar better UI ... kind of tie.
Polestar ICE platform ... Tesla not ... does not make too much difference at least for me. Transmission (=battery tunnel) does not bother me.
Polestar (and all cars in EU) has access to SC (although does not matter that much as there are much more other charging stations which are cheaper).

@@TB-up4xi Polestar is far from bankrupt. They got 1 Billion USD in external investments recently, they now have three cars on the market and two more on the way, plus manufacturing on two continents, sales in 27 markets, 7 more this year. Plus Geely will support as Polestar is to Volvo what AMG is for Mercedes. You can get Polestar engineered Volvos for instance.

From the environmental point of vue a Model 3 is much better than the PS2. The PS2 manufacturing (material, battery, etc..) generates 23 tons of CO2 while the M3 built in USA ganerates about 12.5 tons.
Knowing that european people generates about 2 tons of CO2 per year in average (Sweeden is 1.5 ton and France is 2 tons), the difference between both cars means at least 5 years of using an ICE car. It's quite a lot !!!
