My mom said once that she saw the prettiest, nicest cat in a shelter once, and the only reason we didn't adopt her is because she was sixteen years old, and we'd probably only be able to care for her for a few months before she started having health problems. We weren't in the right place to deal with that, but this kind of makes me feel bad. I wish someone had adopted her sooner so she could live the last few years of her life in good hands.
You should see a 16 year old cat my mother have. She move around like a 6 month old and still be able to move around without any movement issues . She move like she have several years or longer to live.
I chose to adopt a kitten when I saw her in her cage shaking in fear. It didn't matter to me what she was going to do to my home, she had to get out of there. She was 14 weeks, vert said she had been traumatized. She's 1 1/2 yrs old and my poor baby is still recovering..
There is no definite right or wrong when adopting... sure, we all talk of adopting the adult cats because kittens get adopted so quickly, but all adoptions are positive occasions.😊🤗
Well done for getting her out of that traumatic situation and into a loving home! Well done also for treating her with kindness and patience as she deals with her issues. My cat was very scared initially, as I was told she had been the "runt" of the litter, who got picked on by the other kittens. Thank God, she is fine now! She's so secure with everyone in our house that she will even be cheeky with them! I hope that your cat is cheeky with you before long - that's one of the reasons we keep cats!
I’ve adopted 2 adult cats. Daisy was found in a city with her kitten in her mouth. She was begging for help. When she was ready, I went to her foster home and got her. Molly was in a shelter. I’d taken a friend to find a cat. She had a cone on her head as she’d been spayed, but her sutures had gotten infected. She and 6 other cats had been rescued from an abandoned building fire. They said she was 2-3 years old and very sweet. I couldn’t resist her pleading eyes. She’s been with me just over a year and Daisy, who’s about 6 has been with me 18 months. I’ve always loved dogs, but I find myself being transformed into the cat person!
There's no reason you can't be both. Very few apartments allow dogs; cats may be more welcomed. I love al animals, big, small, wild or tame. l I'm elderly now but when younger I had hoped to become a veteranian (sp?).
We were roommates with my brother in law when I moved here and got married. He has 2 cats. Now I want a cat. My husband said "I turned you into a cat person??" I said, "no Mooney did." (Mooney is one of b-i-l's cat's).
I just adopted a kitten. I don't mind the age at all. The cat I wanted was an adult, but the lady before me was first come first serve So then I saw the kitten & that's the only reason I grabbed the kitten. We didn't want a kitten at all because it's like having a toddler in the house, which I didn't want, but now I have him, have to love him and he's spoiled rotten. My kitten has it all. Tower, scratch post, toys with his own toy box, treats and I feed him Royal canine.
I live in an apartment complex, and one thing I like to do is let people know that they should include their pets in their health care directives or let a neighbor know when they'll need care for their pet if they have to go to the hospital. Many of the pets are older pets and like to stay in the homes they've known for years. There are a few of us who pet-sit until the owner comes back so they don't have to be brought to the shelter because they aren't being taken care of. Just wanted to put that out there for anyone who might pick up on the idea and carry it forward for a neighbor/friend and pet in need!
My friend's roommate adopted a kitten (that preferred my friend over her). My friend would often complain about the kitten being annoying and injuring her, claiming that she hated cats. She didn't believe me when I said the cat just needed to grow up. She (the cat) is much calmer now and my friend took back her words, lol.
I had no intention of getting a cat, but my daughter had one who did not get along with her other pets. She asked me to take it the very day my doctor said to me I should get a cat. She's a Calico, so somewhat unpredictable, but beautiful and nice to have around.
I have always adopted my cats 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️ ❤️ and have had 8 cats, my oldest lived to be 21 years old. 😢. My cat (Rici 🐈⬛️😻) she was 11 years old when we adopted her, last year she was diagnosed with kidney disease early stage 2, doing great now. She is 15 years old now. Always adopt ❤️ they all need ❤️ love.
I totally agree. I've had cats most of my life. When younger I wanted the kittens but over the last 25 years I've adopted many adult cats. Everything he says about them is true, in my experience. I'm 85 so no more kittens for me; they're too darn much work.
I adopted two 1.5ys old British short hair cats knowing having a full time job makes me be busy. I still aimed for rather young cats since I know I will love them for many years to come.
I adopted a two year old cat four years ago. Ace, my cat, had a previous owner. He was adopted from a Petco that was partnered with a local animal shelter. Ace has been an wonderful member of my family.
My Chloe was four when I adopted her. Her first family had her, and then got a kitten that she didn't get along with. Instead of returning the kitten they gave up Chloe, because the kitten was cuter. I've always been a cat person and the bond I have with Chloe is the best that I've ever had with a cat.
My cat son was a young adult when i got him for my daughter ten years ago. I wasn't a cat person. My kid grew up and left home. I had no idea cats where so cool. I will always have a cat now. When the time comes ill get another rescue kitty.
My husband and i just adopted our first kitty and shes 5. She was a return to the shelter was preciously exposed to a dog. Shes lovely and very easy going since we both work currently.
@@revolvingbattlefox3383 Mostly. Corvo (the older male) tends to bully Bubblegum (the younger female). This is down to personality. Corvo plays rough and has an attitude, Bubblegum is docile. I intervene whenever I can. My advice? Get them together.
Our youngest cat was still quite young (his balls hadn’t dropped yet) when a friend gave him to us. He was surprisingly quite calm n low key. He is a sweet, gentle, funny little fellar n thankfully wasn’t destructive. Our female cat who was also a stray we had gotten a year earlier from the same friend is a spaz compared to the younger one. She destroyed a chair of ours but has calmed down as far as that goes. 😂 For the most part we have been lucky. 🙏🏻 Our senior cat is a well behaved cranky old man. 🥰
After my last cat Panda passed away at 20, I resolved to adopt a kitten or kittens however, when I went to a pet food store where some rescue cats were up for adoption, I took one look at the 2 year mom of 6 kittens and decided I had to take her as well as one of her kittens. It has worked out so well for all of us. Penny is a sweet cat and dedicated to her daughter Phoebe, now 8 months old. Downside - Phoebe prefers cuddling with her mom rather than me! 🐈⬛🐈
Most of the cats we've taken in were outdoor ferals, most of whom were kittens. However, we have had a couple cases of adult cats we took in. One is our boy Rocky, who was abandoned by his previous owners. the other was Sable, the world's most affectionate cat imho. We know Rocky was about two years old when we took him in (15 years ago) and he is doing well. I’ve been thinking about getting an adult cat- maybe 2 since I’m in office for 3 days a week. I always wanted a kitten so I could have it for it’s whole life, but I’m afraid of leaving the kitten alone even if I’m home. Mainly because I have a landing at the top of my stairs with a railing and Im worried a kitten might not have the sense to not jump from that height. Not sure yet what I’m am going to get. I’m just obsessed about getting any cat at this point!🤪
I can comfirm i have two cats and we got them both as kittens both around 2 months old and they are still pretty young one is still not a year old but one us around 1 and a half
I want to adopt a kitten cuz the cat will grow with me and ill be a real mother like i just got my baby out of my stomach and i will train her and have a lot if memories with her ❤
I am planning to adopt an abandoned long hair cat ( honestly I'm not too fond of long hair cats, but the cat's situation is horrible I'd instead put aside my Ego), so I came to this video. wish me luck. I always have short hair cats ( from the kitten) while I was living with my parents. I couldn't bear those furs of long-haired cats. I just must buy a portable vacuum cleaner now
I raised my cat from his birth. He is two now and thinks my 8 yr old rat terrier is his mom. So when she goes out to do her business, my cat follows and does his.😮 He comes in about 10 pm to go to bed for the night. He cuddles and kisses my little terrier and they😮 cuddle on my bed at night.

Mainly because I have a landing at the top of my stairs with a railing and Im worried a kitten might not have the sense to not jump from that height. Not sure yet what I’m am going to get. I’m just obsessed about getting any cat at this point!🤪
Thank you for this video!
I just must buy a portable vacuum cleaner now
3:05 My cat Luna does not follow this rule, she loves this spider on a stick toy and will literally drag open draws to bring it to me lol
I have three but one of them gets attacked at times by the other two, stinks
I raised my cat from his birth. He is two now and thinks my 8 yr old rat terrier is his mom. So when she goes out to do her business, my cat follows and does his.😮 He comes in about 10 pm to go to bed for the night. He cuddles and kisses my little terrier and they😮 cuddle on my bed at night.
Buddy you have never met my 3 seven year olds Virgil, Morgan and Jessie or my 4 year old Junior or their 2 year old niece Hazel.
This cat iscut 🎉🎉❤❤❤
When my Ebony-May passes I'll get two adult cats (hopefully black cats)
when you adopt one c at you save two lives
I find kittens overrated and cats underrated. Same with dogs and puppies.

Imagine you were an alien and wanted to have a human as a pet. Would you really want to get a 6 year old child?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
it’s kinda to late
Cats are awesome! Thank you for this video! God bless you! ♥️♥️♥️♥️💯. God bless everyone who reads this and love you all: make sure you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour everyone! He is coming soon! Accept and believe in Jesus Christ! John 3:16, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corrinthians 15 1-4 and Romans 10 9 and 10
I think it is best to adopt a baby kitten otherwise they know you are not there mother
Of course adult cats are better. I don't like children of any species.
Adult cats are much more interesting than are kittens.
1:17 - 'exasturbated' is not a word to use around the chillins, yo.
