For the record, the term is "mother lode", which is an actual term for a geological area rich in ore.
As someone who has pretentiously used “motherlode” in academic writing before, these comments of his dome keeper videos never fails to inject me with a false sense of superiority
The fact that he still somehow managed to hit most of the resources, despite his truly Joker-esque mining strategy of leaving massive chunks of the easier to dig/closer to the surface dirt unexplored, truly boggles the mind.

Also just a pro tip for the homies, but as someone who no life-d this for like 20 hours so far, Drillbert truly can become the drill that will peirce the heavens, especially once you learn to use him, and the resource elevator thing is pogged, even non-upgraded.
Maybe that shows that psycho mining isn't actually that different to strip mining.

@@CadoonTube Problem with Drillbert is that compared to the good gadgets (teleporter, elevator and probe), he's ass tier right next to the condenser and the explosive charge. He's alright, but he takes quite a bit of time and investing before he starts paying off.

@@XeroTrinity you think so? Even considering the 3 starting gadgets, two weapons and the differing worlds? I guess it mostly affects the fighting phase, the mining will probably be harder to change. Hope it gets some updates to increase the replayability then.

To be fair, the game doesn't have that much replayability. I hope he keeps playing for a bit longer but I don't expect him to put in more than 10-15 hrs.

Some (minor) profanity, which the youtube algorithm doesn't like so he cut it out. Didn't miss anything in the grand scheme of things.

Bought this game within 10 minutes of the first eppy, it's amazing how good you can make a run when you build in consistent symmetrical tunnels compared to whatever NL does lol

It's called psycho mining and it is absolute torture
It drives me crazy cause he acknowledges the good mining and then continues to psycho mine
Someone has to teach him that in the strip mine there should only be 2 layers between each mine instead of 3 layers
3 is okay, you're likely to see most patches, but 2 for sure
He heard "Mine every third line" and the number 3 was all he remembered lolol
@@TreesPlease42 I would say (at least from my limited understanding of watching) 3 is absolutely not ok, you might not miss gold but you are going to miss the rarer resources that come in clumps of one. I think it's the primary reason he couldn't get any red in the first run
@@TreesPlease42 3 definitely seems ok. Iron usually comes in clumps of 2-3 that will probably show up. Skipping a little to mine faster is good. You have to balance speed and efficiency.
@@ARandomSoftware You will miss some small patches, but the efficiency should still be better. You could go back later with more upgrades to mine every third column -- that'd catch any leftovers.

To be fair to NL, Drillbert is ass, or at least needs a metric ton of upgrades to be useful.
Personally I would have went with the lift (dumping ore down a central shaft saves so much time) but the condenser is a pretty good choice as well
All of the gadgets need multiple upgrades to be useful...
@@Mr.Sparks.173 Drillbert is fucking insane. If you have the 5 or 7 water to afford the upgrades, upgrading drillbert is significantly better than upgrading your drill it seems like. I just bought 1 drill upgrade and 2 treat upgrades at the start and I was struggling to bring up resources faster than he mined them. While my drill isn't as strong, meaning I lose out on some precision, as long as you set drillbert up right, and are good at micromanaging several things, he can do most of the bulk mining for you. At the end of waves, if you have a hole that goes straight to the bottom, you can just drop the treat down the pit and drillbert will get spiced up on his own. Also, while drillbert does run over 1 wide pits, if you strategically dig a 2 wide pit that thins into a 1 wide pit and goes down 3 tiles, you can automatically send drillbert down once he finishes that layer and turns around, as long as you position it right. That's 4 blocks you need to mine. 4 blocks mined, and you clear out the entire layer.

NL is truly the Keeper of the Dome
When NL said "I'm the keeper of the Dome" and then proceeded to dome on everyone, that was very emotional.
Can't believe he died because he bought the Overcharge shield and never used it. You really do just hit the use button on the shield gen (barrels) on the left of the dome.
He immediately bought another upgrade that spent all his water, that’s why it didn’t work

The man's decision making is truly something to behold
Gets offered the best gadget in the game and turns it away for a Brita filter, it's how you know it's a true NL moment
I tried out the game, got drillbert immediately, and unlike NL, upgraded him with like 3 or 4 upgrades, and he went fucking crazy. He was mining more than I was. There were more resources than I could get back to the base, and I won that game. Proof that NL causes his own despair.
Edit: After more experimentation with drillbert, it seems this initial insane success was due to just being fortunate with lots of early money/water. In runs where I haven't found as much money, drillbert scaled much slower and ended up requiring much more maintainance. Though, recently he was buffed to make his upgrades cheaper. Maybe this could counteract his reliance on early upgrades? Anyway, the gist seems to be that drillbert is good if you can get it to pop early, but is really bad for coming back from a slow start.

Since the first time I heard him say "the motherlode", I knew it wasn't going to get old.
This gave me a slow-burning, serotonin-type Pog rather than a sudden burst of dopamine, but you know what, I feel like that’s indicative of growth in some way, so I’m just gonna appreciate the pogs regardless.

Skip 2 rows when you tunnel instead of making a tunnel every other row. You can see all the items inside the 2 row section. Saves you half the drilling.
You could skip three rows with a little pop up or down every 4 blocks - cause you can see the corners of ores as well. A little more complicated while mining, but more efficient than skipping two blocks

I love how when he got the 2 way teleporter he says “why would I need to teleport back to base if I can’t bring resources with me” and then 5 mins later sees a teleporter upgrade that allows you to send resources back at the cost of being able to teleport yourself back to base, and then complains it’s bad because he can’t teleport back. 😂

My favorite way to mine resources fast is to upgrade the teleporter to transport resources and get the speed upgrade for it, then I drag the portal over to a motherload and let it do it's thing while I'm mining. It vacuums up iron like nobody's business.

Edit: He bought the reflector and now does it but in usual NL fashion, he learned nothing in the process.
I am sure he has gotten this point at later episodes, and I have not played the game so heavy backseating here but...
teleporter - make hole in ground, put teleporter in it, drop all loot in hole
makes it so the loots stacks on top of each other and drops down to teleporter when lowest lvl is eaten.

I picked this game up after episode one - I gotta say I love how the game is balanced in a way that really does make you make some tough decisions when it comes to the upgrades and the greed possibilities are real as well. I've died to greed once already but I'm having quite a lot of fun.
Also I hate to backseat but I honestly don't really see much use for water from the condenser because most of the time I struggled with gold and cobalt and not water. I think you might need more water on larger maps where you get more upgrades for the gadgets and stuff but in a regular game I just don't see myself using the water from the condenser at all because you still need quite a bit of gold for all the upgrades that use water so the bottleneck for me is always gold.
I mainly got the condenser in my playthroughs for the first upgrade, cuz it overcharges your primary dome ability for free every wave. Came in pretty handy not to have to do it manually, especially in later waves once the enemy damage starts picking up.
Also condenser is nasty with converter for obvious reasons but NL choked that run :/
I wanna watch, but every time I start I end up pausing to play the game myself.
