You also have a limited slip front diff. FYI limited slip diffs help prevent wheel spin not encourage it. Check out 3:30 - loss of control followed by over corrections due to loss of traction from the summer tires equipped. Don't drive your STI to the snow with summer tires people, you may crash even at low speeds.
I have an 05 Blobeye WRX, but also love the Bugeyes. Both iconic Japanese cars. We had some snow here in Vancouver, WA (surprisingly uncommon) a few months ago and my Subie didn't break a sweat. Drove exactly as I normally do. After living with AWD, I think only a Type R could pull me away!
I have to say Gato I’ve wanted a WRX for a while now. I know I said in one of the last live streams I was thinking about trading the Xterra for a Prelude but I really believe that would probably be a WRX. The awd and turbo just seems to make good sense.
Gear Runner it is. I have an 02 bugeye with 218,000 miles on stock motor, turbo, and trans running stage 2 and don’t drive it like a sissy and it’s very reliable and fun!
Get a 02-05.5, I know it’s random but the 2.0 motors have been marginally better to me after owning 2.0’s-2.5’s for close to 10 years🤝not quite as fast but they run forever, my first one back in highschool had 220k when I sold it and I beat it allll the time, auto cross, canyon runs. It was awesome😎just have mechanical sympathy and you’re good
Only thing on the 2.0 models, they don’t respond well to shock load, just be kinda light on shifting and the transmission will last you just fine, after blowing 3 over 3 different wrx 5 speeds, I finally just switched to a 6 speed in my time attack bug
Damn love old Subarus man i had a £1500 Subaru Forester s turbo SF5 rare af here in Scotland manual Full service history heated seats was un stoppable in snow i went 50 MPH in a serious deep amount of snow ! It handled amazing Unfortunately the rear subframe fell off and i sold it but i did spent about 1500 on it i had michellin all season tyres
I had a 02. Got a little tipsy and took my wrx on the beach. Myrtle Beach. I went over the ramp onto the deep loose sand. The cops came. One laughed said dude you are gonna have to pay a wrecker like 500 bucks to get your car out. I laughed. I said if I get it out will you let me go he said ok. I put it in 2nd gear hit the gas and drove about 200 yards back the the ramp got on the wood and stopped. He waved me bye. I once pulled a cop car out of a ditch who was stuck in the snow. I told them never to write me a ticket. Gave me his card. I once raced 2 cops in Greer on highway 80 before it was complete. They took my till about 80 I slowly went by them and they said this is a fun car huh. I miss it so so so much I wish I never sold it
I bought a 96 Impreza Brighton (pos model) from a buddy for cheap, it had literal bald tires on it, and he went flying up and down this icy mountain (his daily was a 07 Sti), and it didnt slide at all. My 95 impreza with used winterforce tires I was scared..
Nice. that Subie was doing an awesome job putting down the power. New one probably would do worst with summer tires (traction control would have been near useless)... It's not as quick as my snow tire equipped 2017 civic, but it would be an absolute beast with the proper shoe. Hope you save that 4 wheel system for winter use and don't burn it out on the track. It's too good waste.
You may be able to accelerate but you can hardly stop with summer tires in the snow. Don't try to fool anyone summer tires are on in this video bc of money issues otherwise you'd be running all seasons. Winter tires in snow = stupid idea - 2 time STI owner current 15' STI avid snowboarder. I drive to resorts all over the western US.
Car wasn't ready really to be on the road, wasn't and still isn't plated, I was just having a little fun in the snow. I wouldn't run summers in the winter, that's a bad idea for sure
This channel is SUPER underrated
Thanks Ryan I appreciate it
FlyinGato YAY I GOT A REPLY!! AND A LIKE! 😃
For real bro toooo underrated love this channel
Subaru has the best all wheel drive system all those years of rally research paid off
Yup, until 2008 that is, the WRX from 2002 to 2008 has a rear limited slip diff, after that, only the Sti has that rear LSD.
Thats why I still have my 2001 Bugeye. Wouldn't swap it for anything.
I love tht cold start to bad the new ones aren’t tht iconic like those days now they more quiter
Fun start at 3:28 :) . Man, you are crazy but I admire you and love too. Thanks a lot for your videos !!

So cool seeing a wrx with such high milage still running! Hope mine is still healthy at that age i've got 119k on my 06 myself.
Yours is still pretty fresh! I'm thinking I'll be rally crossing mine

been waiting for you to post another vid glad to see you out enjoying your rex keep her going mate she won't let you down.

Your subaru sounds lovely, keep up the videos 📹
I saw a lot of WRX's this winter and that is surprising because in Toronto there isn't that much WRX's.
Ughhhhhh, can’t wait to drive mine in the snow
looovveeeee the wrx videos keep up the great work man!!!
Thanks!
It’s a winter wonderland up there! The Subie looked right at home!! I’m glad we don’t get that volume of snow here😎
,
It eats up the snow like nothing else
FlyinGato I think you need to mount a plow on that thing!!!
Haha, I think I'll get a side by side and mount one there first

We'll see what happens, I'll likely just build it this spring, not sure about the future
Your video work made me choke when I looked down and didn’t see 100k subs
Haha, thanks man, I appreciate the love, comments like these are the ones that keep me going!
Are you still making wrx videos? Im also in your area. Waiting for some more heavy snow.
Yes subaru are very good in the snow ❄ 👍
So happy to see the rex. I miss mine at times. Thought about getting another one.
Why did u get rid of it
Gratz!!
When you was buying winter tires you told that you don't have that much snow and all-seasons will be just fine :D
Man how wrong I was lol
They say this Chassis feels more solid than the GC Chassis but the GC has less weight going for it.
GC is also much older
any more of this car! I like the channel subbed
Pls more video of the subie and i love your channel nice edits and stuff man gj
Thanks man! More videos coming for sure!
What happened with the dashboard lights?
What is the song in the video?
Which exhaust u got brother please find out for me. Thanks
What kind of exhaust do u have on it? Bugeye
Did you record this in march?
Haha! You see all that snow!!
FlyinGato I can imagine you're sick of it😄
I know!! Luckily today it's much hotter and the trees have finally started to sprout
Hey man, do you know what kind of headers you have? My 02 WRX has a leak around the header/frontal exhaust system and yours sounds great
mine are stock, it's all in the exhaust for me
thanks man
bro please make a vid on the smoke from the valve gasket cover pls
What state do u live in?
Just found this channel and love it but why has you been going around getting parts but not getting a new battery ? I don’t get it 🤷🏻♂️
Get a new battery last, after everything else is done, so it doesn't die prematurely from under use
What is the intro song?
Makes me definitely want to get a Subaru even more now hahahaha.
It really did well!!
Love it so much love it
Yo you going down OCMD in May for Crusin weekend?
Unfortunately probably not, I have races to be at the end of May
Well thats even better! 😌Cant wait for the videos from it! 👍🏼
It'll be awesome, I'll be racing the Prelude, first race is at Summit Point 😁😁😁
FlyinGato Thats going to be fun! No Type R on the track?
For sure, there will be Type R track days 100%, but those are separate from the racing
Did he just put limited slip and loves spinning wheels in the same sentence?
Yup! Limited slip diff makes spinning tires more fun, instead of getting the dreaded one wheel peel
You've got a vicious coupling ?
no wonder you're going slideways ;)
wrx is the car for time attack
Is there a lip on your rear bumper? Or is it stock
There's a lip
Love the channel but, get a new battery already. You love that jumper box thing dont you.
Love it! Two of the cars need new batteries haha
FlyinGato did you ever figure out the smoke by the turbo? My car is doing the same.
Not yet, I'm pretty sure there's a tiny leak of oil getting onto that header, I'll be investigating soon
Full fans or you'll be fogged up !

That BMW driving style don't work to well in soobs 😂, to much correction when sliding makes it pendulum.
I have to practice more on AWD, I've only ever driven RWD and FWD prior to this subie
Is it automatic?
It's a manual my friend 😁
Subieeeeeee
