I am a Bugeye Supremacist, my only gripe with the car is that I wish the WRX version was offered as a 2-door short-wheel-base Coupé body style, rather than a 4-door sedan.
You forgot the brakes! That's why the mean eye (GC) is better than the GD when you really think about it. I love my bugeye, even more once I added all the JDM tidbits.
I actually suggested these generational comparison videos on a different car channel, I'm really glad to see someone actually took up the idea. I would love to see more of these, there are plenty of generation changes between vehicles that would be really interesting to see.
I wanted a bugeye Impreza hatch so bad back in the day, but now the Hawkeye looks like it's aged a lot better. I'd still gladly drive either but I think I'm sticking to the Outback or similar as long as my kids are in carseats. 😂
Fun and different video! And as someone who owned a Sonic Yellow bug eye wagon many years ago, I absolutely love them. The blob eye, and even more so, Hawkeye are definitely more main stream conservative designs, but still have an edge.
You should do a comparison between the 2 latest gens or other generations of the Pontiac Grand Am. But also do a Toyota MR2 comparison between the 80s gen and the 90's
Best looking version was the Saabaru. My most fun car ever was a 84 Honda Prelude Manual until I bought a 04 Blob eye WRX wagon manual. You could beat on GTI's and Mustangs while transporting a dorm rooms worth of stuff in a snow storm.
So hard to find one of these in good shape. I almost bought one back in 2016, it was a 2002, blue, 80k miles and one owner for $8k, sadly, it was sold out from under me while I was on a 5-hour drive to pick it up. I have looked on and off over the years and most of them are either stupid high miles and clapped out or well, clapped out and rusted in general. I might look one more time next year when I am ready for another car.
i had mine for a number of years and started to get some mods done. then the engine blew up and it sat for 7 months before i could get a new engine and other mods installed. that was all done late spring. then that december i hit a patch of ice and flipped upside down into a pond with windows open =/
@@RandomPotatoProductions😂 Don’t even get me started with Honda, that’s another garbage brand last 15 years they are disastrous with weak engines and weak Turbo engines. Oil dilution issues are big issues.
Personally, I love this format! Being able to review very similar cars is very cool, and I love seeing comparisons like this

I think they did in Japan? They should be 25 years old soon. Or maybe that was just up to 98
Of the early WRXs, I would pick the Blobeye as my favorite.
Always loved the bug eyes, starting to come around on the hawk eyes. It’s funny what getting older does to you.
The bug eyes were so ugly when they first came out now they're cool
one is friend shaped, other is friend shaped but serious
My friend drives a 2018 manual WRX ehite a slight glitter white exterior and he loves it.

If you've never driven a wrx in the snow/ ice/dirt, you don't really know how fun they can be
Loved the format!!! Thank you.

Thank you for doing this comparison! I own a 02' Wagon, RHD, with Prodrive. 262 hp. It is alot of fun!

The Blob Eye was designed By Peter Stevens who also designed the McLaren f1 lol
I prefer the yellow instrument needles over the red.

I like the looks of the Hawk Eye
Bugeye besteye
Blllllobbbbeyeeee. I like all 3 styles in the generation personally. I'm partial to the wagons. Love this format keep it up
Please do more videos like this
That bugeye is a lot like my 97 Impreza Outback. I want one.

I would be interested in seeing more comparison reviews on the channel in the future!
Excellent video as always Zack!
Nice that you got two models to compare side by side. Subaru needs to give us a Crosstrek WRX already.
This video was so cool, love the entire *layout* of it! I think this comparison could be used on different cars & trucks.
Still a big fan of the bug eye after all these years.
Bugeye Mafia!
Great Video!!! I love comparaisons between different generations of same model cars/trucks 🤘

Yes the body rusted if you looked at wrong
that bugeye has a blown headgasket or something. The needles showed it overheating. @2:44-2:46
@Zack - This is a great video and tribute to the WRX. You should have made the video longer with more comparison - mechanical, handling and esthetics.
Blobeye: Am I joke to you?
I'm sure that if he was offered one, he'd have reviewed it.
Love to see you review a turbo Regal vs an actual GN and see your around town everyday differences! Just a suggestion from my 2:26am sleepy head 😂
Nice work. 🤘
I prefer the bug eye
I dismiss both of them! I am the Leone team.😎
amazing comparison but I miss you talking joyful and happily
The first Subie I ever drove was a Hawkeye so I’m team Hawkeye
Yes I do 👍
I prefer the bug eye because it has giant fog lamps.🎉
imo the seats in the 2002 are superior even to the sti seats
I prefer the bug eye because of the momo interior
Could compare these cars to the Saab 9-2X and the Impreza Casa Blanca.
Blobeye is best. my first car was a 2004 WRX
I crashed mine the first day I got it lol

03:00 BIG FRIGGIN BOTTLE FAIL!!!
Auto transmission is such a big disappointment.
The WRX should've never been offered with an automatic
Where does the blobeye 2004-5 and stinkeye 2008- 13 rate then against the Hawkeye & bugeye ?From Best to worst
Automatic?!
Hey, at least you can still drive a wrx if you get your left leg caught in a wood chipper
automatic 😟
Saw they were both auto and stopped watching lol
Don’t buy these Subarus, they are disastrous for head gasket issues, oil leaks and piston rings issues which will cause to burn oil excessively.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
don't forget cvt's dying at 60K
Only if you beat on them like Hondas. Or boost them with cheap modifications.

@@crouchb15 no CVT's for this generations
owned both love the hawkeye the ej255 is a better engine but i did love revving out the ej205.
