    My husband and I have a 2022 Leaf. At a quick charge station it takes about 15 minutes to get 25+% (depending on temps). Not too bad. We get over the 215 mile range using the e-pedal to regenerate some energy, which is an incredibly efficient way of driving, and very easy. Why some people make that sound so difficult I will never know. Very comfortable car with all the "bells and whistles" of heated seats and steering wheel, navigation, pro pilot assist and the list goes on for a fraction of what the Tesla costs right now.....and it's been around longer. Acceleration is immediate. We didn't want a status symbol, we wanted efficiency and low fuel costs. The Leaf doesn't stick out with excessive "futuristic" styling, but looks nice, and you don't see one at every intersection. I like that.

      2.) Maintenance costs. If my car suffers from severe degradation, then I might have to spend a lot of money replacing the battery, which I count as a maintenance cost.
      3.) Build quality. This one seem obvious to me. If an EV suffers from severe amounts of battery degradation, then clearly it has bad build and design quality.
      4. Durability. This one also seems obvious to me. The word durability is defined as "the ability to withstand wear, pressure, or damage." CLEARY the Leaf's battery does not meet the dictionary's definition for the word "durability".

    So the leaf+ is more expensive than the baseline model 3, yet has less range with a bigger battery, even though the model 3 is physically larger. Oh, and the model 3 destroys it in performance and battery longetivity (since the leaf is just air cooled, not properly liquid cooled/heated).

    1:53 charging is pretty much an exact science and it can be predictable, when you have all parameters. Charging curves can be consistent between sessions, if you have a decent Battery Management System.
    Which happens to be another weak point of the air cooled Leaf, if it is charged multiple times a day, like a long trip or shorter one but full of cargo.
    Not all CHAdeMo stations can provide the 100kW.

    It's important to note that there is no more federal tax credit for Tesla, but the Leaf still has a full $7500. However, you have to be making enough money to be tax liable for $7500 to take full advantage of it and I think federal tax credit, in general, is just dumb and defeats the purpose of making an EV affordable for the mass. I bought the Model 3 Sr+ with $3750 tax credit, but I can't seem to take full advantage of it. However, I got a $2500 CA state rebate and $1000 rebate from SCE (Southern California Edison), so I guess that's something.

    I have never gotten near the 499.9 km / 320 miles Tesla promised for my 3-LR. Still, I'm satisfied because the supercharger network is indeed fast and ubiquitous - roadtrips take longer but that's usually okay. I'd also prefer a LOT more cargo space - like a Tesla 3 wagon - because with kids and family we're all wedged in tight and it's not what you want for the $$. Basically in our experience this is a very good gen one version and gen two should be substantially better.

Then they still have the $7500 tax rebate that Tesla no longer has. Try to get prices like that in a Tesla. Another problem for Tesla is they only have 120 service centers vs. 1082 Nissan Dealers. Nissan fit and finish are impeccable. TFL cars did a shock video on crash repair cost for a minor crash in the Tesla. The Leaf is just a great car to live with. • @Henriburger1
      @Henriburger1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not yet it isn't, and it may never be. FSD may require LIDAR to work, which Tesla has never and still doesn't have on its cars. You can't sell a product today with what it might do in 15 years. I can't go to you with some potato juice in a bottle and charge you premium Vodka prices for it while saying "Yeah just keep it in your basement for 15-20 years and it'll be worth it."

    • @Tiigerr
      @Tiigerr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Henriburger1 Sorry dude but you're painfully misinformed, and that can only stem from not ever having followed FSD development or witnessed it in action.
      First off, between auto lane-change, reacting to traffic lights, and navigate on autopilot, FSD is way more than autosteer. In fact, that makes it more capable than any other system today, by far. The footage being posted from those testing beta is even more capable with 90+ degree turns and navigate on city streets. And this is a real and working product today!
      Second, your point about LIDAR is shortsighted as that's exactly the path they went down during early development until they realized it's limitations and opted to go a different route. They've been there and done that. The problem with LIDAR is it's great when roads are as expected, it will never be able to handle unexpected changes or edge cases as well as Tesla's approach, and that's where the real challenge will be. LIDAR will always get stuck in local maximums. Tesla's cameras and sensors approach is designed to reach true level 5 autonomy with enough data fed into the neural network.
      Speaking of data, nobody has a chance in hell to match Tesla's autopilot data intake rate right now. Their full fleet of almost a million vehicles equipped with autopilot are giving Tesla an enormous advantage to gather real world data and push out incremental improvements. This will be the key differeciating factor over time.

      @@seankelleher9438 Nissan leaf was the best selling ev because people didn't have a choice. Remember Nissan is worldwide but tesla is limited to few countries and teslas were vert expensive. Tesla model 3 will soon overtake if not already pass the leaf. With all respect madam, it would be silly to buy a car with lower range, slower, no autopilot, doesn't have its own superchargers on the motorway, can't be updated over the air. The price is almost the same.
      Also, people are complaining about Nissan. Check ev man, fancy bev mate and many more. Some are putting huge batteries in the boot to try to increase the range lol.

    Comparing the LEAF to a Tesla (any Tesla) is pretty unfair. Why not compare it to something in the same market segment like a Chevrolet Bolt or a Hyundai Kona?

    I'm not really sure what you are comparing here :D
    The leaf is a super cheap electric vehicle not made for long range, while the tesla is a good long range sedan.
    Just speaking of european numbers here but I got the small nissan Leaf for 23k€. The model 3 starts at 42k.
    Both are eligible for a 6k bonus from german state which makes the model 3 twice as expensive.
    The 60kw leaf is just a stupid car.
