I use pretty much the same setup with the Zima Blade and 2x4TB HDDs. By the way, the USB stick is not only the installation medium but the license is also linked to the UUID of the USB stick. What I like about Unraid is that you can spin down the drives. Since I live in a country with high energy prices, this helps to save costs. I was thinking about adding an M.2 as a cache drive using a PCI Express card. Then the disks only have to be spun up once a night when the cache transfers the data to the HDDs.
The advantage of unraid u can add single disks to the pool if want to expand over time. The parity disk needs to be largest in the pool. Not used unraid but watched numerous videos being curious.
I was the same - where do I got to 'install' it? But you just don't. It's there on the usb stick; it works fine. The hard drives are for storage, and that's what they do! I guess it's only the fact the zimablade has only one usb port that makes it an issue. And yes - dockers, vms and plugins are a fantastic. Not a requirement originally, but definitely useful now!
More on Unraid would be great. Configuration and optimization tips especially
cant wait for Unraid 7 Release its gonna rock.

I’m seeing why Unraid has such a big community! It’s pretty sweet

That explains the long list of disks and the two parity drives. Thanks for the info
