Thanks for the video! It works and adds an extra layer of protection. However, it can be challenging for applications with mobile and desktop apps. For example, my self-hosted password manager couldn't sync or save new credentials. There might be additional settings needed, but I couldn't figure them out yet, so I had to remove the application protection. I'm hoping to find a way to make it work without breaking the desktop/mobile app features.

I followed your whole guide and also launched the tunnel, which seems to be working just fine. However, doing the tailscale up step returns a 500 error that I can't figure out. Would you happen to know why?

Hey Nick, great video as usual. Any chance you can do a follow up with the nginx setup with some form of authentication like Authentik and how to configure so any external access requires authentication before accessing services. Hope this is possible, keep up the great videos they have helped me alot.

Appreciate the video I think it would be great if you covered how to connect the Ui to headscale. Extremely few if any content creators have covered it. I know this as i just spent the last 12 hours struggling to get this up and running.

You show to use tunnel with docker of nginx. And i have question i don't see any valid reason to use tunnel when you after that use nginx which is anyway proxy pass + use cloudflare in front to protect ddos etc. Can you or someone explain if it's worht to use tunnel if i use anyway nginx to pass forward request?

If you have not found out yet. The covered slot on the front is for the optional SD card reader. If you dont need the DVD drive. The OS drive in a DVD adapter caddie, is the perfect place for the OS. Which leaves the two HDD, SSD and NVME slots available.

Hi, I have an issue: I set the DNS on my router to the AdGuard IP, and it works, but only for some devices. In the AdGuard home, only 2 out of 4 devices connected to the network show up... Anyone had the same issue and solved it?

Haha wondered if you'd cover Headscale too 😉 Agree their docker install not ideal although the setup script has helped things a bit - Google Cloud free tier not enough spec though and I'm trying to sort running it on another server that already had nginx proxy manager running on it (their script assumes it has sole control over port 443).

Thx man. I’ve been considering this for a while now. Tossing up between this and pivpn to add to my pi rack. 👍...but since you mentioned headscale at the end, this is now the best option as I prefer running and controlling everything myself. Also you say at 9:40 ...(24/7 etc...) yes I do have my pi running 24/7, so would headscale be the best option then? I’ll definitely wait for the video your gonna do on headscale. Also, I read this on reddit (2yrs old) , maybe it’s been fixed now.. Reddit- - dns leaks - with wireguard I can configure the client without dns leaks. With tailscale I could not get rid of dns leaks, even though I am using unbound on the server and tailscale dns server have been defined with local dns override.

I've been using tailscale for a couple of years and headscale (as a service not via docker) for over a year. It seemed easy enough to install and I have successfully performed a recovery installation on a second server. They are both great products.

I am going to ask a question with nothing to do with this video . I hope you don't mind.. something I'm trying to look into... Firstly. Unifi have traffic identification that you can then pass that identified traffic to a VPN . Can something like this be done at a non router level . I had in mind something like adgaurd or pihole as a DNs redirect to a VPN like gluetun. Just an example. Any ideas or directions to look. What about pivpn.. sorry to ask . I'm still very much learning
