You honestly think this beats "How To Disappear Completely"?? Or "Morning Bell"? Or fucking...."Wolf At The Door?" (just thinking of 3 random moments of brilliance in an exciting career...although I feel they fell off a bit after "IR", so maybe we're just the same...)
This is honestly one of the most well-made music videos I’ve ever seen. The whole concept symbolizes something in my view. One of the most obvious points is the drastic difference in tone and cinematography between the “day” and the “night” sequences. From the beginning “night” is established as the anxiety-inducing, paranoid, and lonely atmosphere. This is very masterfully contrasted with the presence of people in the “day” sequence. The man has interactions with the people around him (the woman walking past him, the bike rider dropping a phone). But slowly these two realities start to merge together and the safety margin created by the brightness and normality of the “day” sequence is starting to fade. The man starts acting out “night” actions in the day (looking back for no reason, dodging a nonexistent car). This is exactly the place where you can’t trust any of the realities anymore. All this was to preface my main point: in tandem with the title of the song “Man of War”, I believe the music video visualizes PTSD and paranoia. The “day” sequence is real life and the main character has actually interacted with his surroundings. However, his mind, paranoia, and PTSD has caused an alternate “night” timeline, which slowly starts to converge into reality. At the end, he can’t distinguish what is real or fake anymore (the turning point is when he looks at a picture of himself in the phone…i.e. paranoia has kicked in). The people following him so intently are a part of that fake reality he has created. These people within this world (his mind) try to creep into his life and take control. This is seen initially when we can see a shadow following him in the “day” sequence. Gradually, a whole physical appearance pops up and the people following him increases. I symbolize these people as the trauma and mental scars that the main characters has to carry. No matter what he does, he can never get rid of them. He is scared of them. Terrified. He tries ignoring them and running from them, but they always remain within a constant distance away from him. At the end, he trips over and…nothing happens. The people, his trauma and guilt is part of him, following him but not there to physically hurt him. He can never get rid of them, except to accept their presence and coexist with them. At the end, the man is distraught but calmer. He realizes that he can never escape his mind and these presences attached to him, but just maybe he won’t have to run away from them at all.
At 2:09 when the phone was dropped, it had shown a picture of the man sitting on the bench. It's not paranoia, he was definitely being watched and targeted. As for what, idk.
The song spectre by radio head was originally intended to be for the movie but the studio Execs rejected the song for being to dark and went instead for sam Smith you can still listen to it
Okay, the song is amazing, but this mv is a masterpiece as well. This was *perfectly* done. That actor had some great body acting, the swerves, the shot of the shadow following our guy's shadow towards the beginning, before the two worlds started to merge more. The editing was timed so well. This was a masterful pleasure to watch.
It's difficult to explain to people what it's like to wait twenty years for something. Some of you reading haven't even been alive that long. But that's how long us hardcore Radiohead fans have waited for Man Of War. This song has been known to Radiohead fans for all this time. We heard it in live performances we were lucky enough to attend, in rare, scratchy, ethereal bootlegs of live shows we couldn't get to. You can see them developing this song in the studio in the film "Meeting People Is Easy." And with every release since OK Computer, all of us have been hoping we'd finally hear a studio version of this song. Well, we have it now, and they absolutely did not disappoint. This was worth waiting twenty years for. And that this song smokes everything else being put out by other artists today? That's just a teensy cherry in an avalanche of cherries on a very big and delicious cake.
I think the video could also tell a story about PTSD, and not just anxiety as people are saying. A man of war that has flashbacks of the people he's killed whenever the video switches from day to night. The man can't get over the guilt as they chase him, and eventually he can't tell what is real and what is just another nightmare he's having, so he starts seeing them in real life. At the end, the man stops running and realizes that there's nothing he can do about it, so he comes to terms with it, living with the burden.
You can't just put dozens of great songs on one album, unless you want to release a double or triple album, but Radiohead doesn't seem like that type of band.
i am certain that there are hundreds of Radiohead songs not on CD. perhaps they can create a box set of C and D sides. Question: can creativity backfire?
A friend of mine recently committed suicide and in his final social media post he included a link to this song. He was using it as a symbol of strength. But unfortunately he has now taken his life. I do hope that this song can continue to inspire others and serve as a message of hope and strength. Especially in these tough times. Rest in peace, my friend.
Part of my fucking soul is gone man. Campbell saw me at my worst on several occasions, never judged me once. I tried my best to help him at the end, but it was fucking Campbell man, nobody was going to tell him what to do.
I just realized that "The worms will come for you, Big Boots" is a reference to Hamlet, who basically says that everyone (including the rich and powerful) ends up in the same place, and being eaten by the same worms.
@@sarcasmisreal5550 lol my mind was fucced up while typing that. I mixed it with Johnny Marr from The Smiths. But still, both are great guitarists. 🎸❤️
*You are all so absolutely brilliant, you've saved my life countless times. Your music has followed me since I was 14 years old. Thank you for always being there when I need you, Radiohead.*
I wish I could have that feeling of finding them for the first time again. Best part is, I was extremely against them. I had heard about them for quite a while before ever trying them out, and I thought they’d be total garbage. Boy was I wrong.
Indeed. If muzak were a chemical concoction (aka "lil of this, some of that, etcetera etcetera" (wink wink TYork))... If muzak were a mind, body, soul and spirit altering substance...its street name would be 'RADIOHEAD'
Hearing this brought me to tears. I love the music Radiohead makes now, and admire how they have evolved...but hearing this song was like running into an old friend you haven't seen in decades. You want the moment to last forever, but you know it can't. This brought me so many feelings and made me feel like I was 22 again. Thank you Radiohead.
The wonderful thing about Radiohead, nobody can ever decide what song or album is best. You don’t see that very often. I personally love this song and the meaning behind it. Of course, it’s hard to pick a favorite.
Agreed...their massive and amazing portfolio-- complete and total changes in musical/thematic concepts from album to album-- I believe is what sets RH apart from nearly EVERY group of their generation...their musical mastery emboldened by their undanted aversion to remaining stagnant/"no risk, no reward" approach diverse discology generates an overall appeal reaching an ever widening group of listeners...
The video is basically showing the comparison between how you look on the outside, and how you feel on the inside, day and night. During the day, on the outside, he seems like a pretty nice guy, on the inside, he’s scared, running from something, he’s a fighter, and eventually, his night and day become one. The man of war pertains to the fact that he has a war of personas, and how his outside persona clashes with his feelings.
I like the idea that the day is how he is on the outside and the night is how he feels on the inside. On the outside he's a confidant and happy looking man who is nice enough to run after someone to give them their phone back. On the inside he's an anxious man who's always worried about what others think and is constantly running from himself. "The worms will come for you, Big Boots." A reminder that all people have their problems and in the end, no matter how powerful you are, you end up in the ground just the same
It would appear you are right... too bad they didn't get it :) and very cool that their sound could potentially carry being a JB title song 18 years ahead in time :O
OmniFilmDK This song was pitched for James Bond but it was around since 1995. They tried pitching it for spectre in 2015 but we're denied because it wasn't made especially for the film and they couldn't nominate the movie for best orignal song if they did. After that radiohead made a whole new song just for the movie called spectre which was also denied because the producers for the movie said it was too sad and dark.
Karuna Satori ASMR I love that I watched some of your ASMR videos yesterday wondering what kind of music you listen to and now I randomly see this comment lol

@@SoulShines4Music Fun fact: This song was originally made as an homage to James Bond themes back in the 90's. A version was recorded for the original Avengers, but abandoned. In 2015, Radiohead were commissioned to make a Bond theme for Spectre and pitched this. The production team liked it, but rejected it when they learned that it wasn't an original song and thus wasn't eligible for an Academy Award for Best Original Composition. Radiohead then halted production of Moon Shaped Pool to write "Spectre," which was rejected for being too melancholy. th-cam.com/video/CLiDemXYSLc/w-d-xo.html Radiohead's Spectre th-cam.com/video/8jzDnsjYv9A/w-d-xo.html the song they went with for the film
A small, but brilliant inclusion: When the lead picks up the phone dropped by the bicyclist and later checks it, he sees a picture of himself on the bench reading the paper. It adds to the paranoia, confusion, fear and impending Doom of the anxiety and of the facade of normalcy he tries to put up during the daylight shots. Sheer genius is this video!
@@douwehuysmans5959 I played at .25 speed and went frame by frame and found that the "day" phone showed a picture of what could presumably be the lady who dropped the phone in the first place, and in the "night" shots showed no picture at all until the shot where he drops the phone.

i think they just had the camera on rails, so that it did the exact same route for both night and day and just added a preset that resembles handholding on post
I think that they shot the day scene all at once then the night scene and then spliced together where they needed to. Amazing video none the less, why do so many Radiohead leave so many questions unanswered...
This is such a fantastically conceived video. The directing and editing when he’s running over the road is phenomenal, especially when the car suddenly appears and he wheels away into the light. Bloody brilliant. Incredible song, amazing video. I fucking love you Radiohead.
I just can't get over how accurate the positioning of the man and the camera following him is in both versions (day and night), it's a completely mind boggling attention to detail. I wonder how many takes they had to do to get it so perfect? It's amazing

Shows to prove how timeless Radiohead's songs are. This Man of War was recorded in the 90's yet it's an absolute banger in 2017. It doesn't sound like a 90's tune, but it would have been as equally successful as their more somber tracks released with OK Computer.
This version was actually recorded in 2015. The versions recorded in 1997 and 1998 are still unreleased. When the band was asked to write a song for Spectre in 2015, they recorded this final version of the song and when that was rejected, they wrote the song Spectre (which also ended up being cut). You can tell Thom's voice sounds more like how it sounds now. Amazing track, either way! ❤
I've jut recently listen to radiohead, I know it's 90's band. But I thought this song made in 2017 bcs I saw it on upload date and it's doesn't look like 90's song
Honestly, as a life long radiohead fan, it actually does sound like a 90's tune. It's still pretty good. But you know I'm glad they cut it. I don't think it fits in their album. I mean, I agree with them. Just my humble opinion. Radiohead arew my favourite band of all time.

Big Boots symbolize like a son to a father when he's a child. Father comes home from work and the son recognizes his big work boots as a symbol of power or strength. Big boots belong to a big man though the song is trying to say mentally.
I like how in the music video the main guy's paranoia follows him into the day, too. First, it's just the night, the darkness, then it just becomes constant fear and paranoia. Just like the real thing. Well done.
To me it is all reality. I'm an attractive petite woman who looks approachable. When I walk down the streets of my city 😢 approach me in many different ways. It ranges from giving me roses, asking to take a selfie with me (I'm recognized for the unusual volunteer work I do), or they want to flirt. Some turn into stalkers that threaten and assault me. I've become afraid to walk on roads. The last stalker actually followed me to the Police Dept, but took off while the police were helping someone else.
If anyone else understands, this video is a PERFECT representation of what running away from ego-death feels like, whether it be from psychedelics, meditation, or whatever means you used to achieve it. The faster you run from it, the scarier and more confusing it becomes, but in reality it will always be a couple feet behind and isn’t trying to hurt you. It’s just there.
Definitely. I felt that way once, I knew it was coming. And once I realized what was going on I tried my best to pretend it's not happening to me which made it even worse and worse and worse and worse and worse. Until I realized I was the one doing it, I was doing it to myself.
Whoa... I respect your opinion, but don't mix up taste with quality please. The vast majority of Radiohead's most brilliant songs are to be found on the six most recent albums.
Man When his day becomes his night at 2:35 - gives me chills every time. I love this video concept so much - kudos to the freaking editors and production team that had to compile this to have it sync so beautifully
as someone with severe amnesia and dissociative disorder, this music video hits an emotion that i rarely get to feel through art. it's something so visceral and personal, as i'm sure it is to everyone, but specifically from someone with the experience of DID... wow
You hit the nail on the head, Chris! Losing track of time, feeling like things are chasing you, running in panic mode constantly, and being uncomfortable with your situation and in your own skin, felling like its you vs. them...these have been my experiences with PTSD.
feels like my social anxiety. Doesn't get in my way of life much, but when I walk down a busy high street or street with traffic, I feel like I'm being chased. I look cool on the exterior, but I start walking fast, my heart rate sky rockets, I can't think. I just walk and walk, holding my metaphorical breath till I'm in a calmer place.
Yep. I am either extroverted, outgoing, walking in the sunshine... or, I am running in the dark, practically shitting myself. Peeking around every corner, looking over my shoulder, ready to jump. And no one really knows it, because I put on such a damn good show. But I pace. Oh god, do I pace. And the terror. The absolute fucking terror.

During my final years in college I began to struggle with severe anxiety and panic attacks. To me, this music video is the perfect representation of how I felt at that time. The ending as well suggest, at least to me, the same lesson I learned at the end of that period. That is, most of the time you're just running away from yourself; and if you manage to stop, you'll find out that there was nothing really serious to worry about in the first place. Hope you guys are doing okay, stay safe and strong everybody.
Despite the fact that OK, Computer didn’t leave my CD player back in the late 90s for over 2 years, I’m actually glad this song was officially released 20 years later, as it helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. Thank you, Radiohead.
This song is incredible. It has the creeping fear of Karma Police, the apocalyptic dread of Exit Music, and the existential torment of Street Spirit. And the music video is absolutely amazing. I didn't even really listen to the song until my second watch, I was just too captivated by the video.
Actually it reminds me a lot Karma Police, same tempo, same instrumentation, same mood. It's like they had to choose between those two songs to figure on OK Computer.
I used 2+2=5 and it’s reference to 1984for my English project because my professor had said she loved Radiohead. When I presented it she got so excited and even said thom Yorke was a great intellectual
This song hits me in a really deep place as someone who's suffered with PTSD and anxiety after an injury that left me medically discharged from The Forces. The difference between night and day can be something terrible and sometimes you can't escape certain feelings even in broad daylight. Nothing is more terrifying than that feeling like someone is going to come and get you if you turn your back for a bit too long. And you never get any peace with this kind of disorder and it's taken me a long time to get where I am now where I can go outside comfortably and do basic things like going to the shops.

This is the best music video I've seen in a long time. I love the use of perfectly cut night shots to represent his true state of mind. I love the encroaching shadows, and the musical timing of the first stalkers reveal. And I especially love the way he looked back at the girl. Masterful.
@@danielfrankiensimanjuntak4310 I believe what he is seeing at night is actually what he is seeing in his head, and in the daytime is what is actually happening. At night he is completely alone because he feels alone except for the strangers out to get him. When he walks passed the guy sitting down he noticed in his mind he was another person sitting there but he may as well have been a mannequin because he is too scared to ask him for help, so it's just a lifeless figure in his head.
Here's my interpretation of the vid. It started with a seesaw of somewhat normal moods during daytime and spurts of anxiety at night. Later, it didn't matter whether it was night or day. His anxiety (the guys chasing him) grew until they eventually caught up with him at the rails (I remember a line from Nude - "You've gone off the rails" but I'll explain the reference later). Since the guys drove him mad, he had to know whether they were really after him or they were merely "there". He came to realize they were never there to specifically cause any REAL harm to him. Notice when he stopped running and started walking, the guys started walking too. Back to the "off the rails" reference, he finally decided to WALK "along the rails" which means he made peace with himself because he learned that his FEAR was irrational and will just make him go "off the rails". By the looks of it, he seemed OK at the end of the vid.
Could it also be a case where the man is, in fact, dead without realizing it? At some point, it seems like that fever-dream-like state of delirium insinuates a lost perception of time. The further the video progressed, the less aware other people became of his presence, starting around the time the lady's phone fell out her pocket. The only one paying him any attention is the other dead chasing him down. Perhaps the lyrics "drift all you like" and the later "off the rails" reference could be the beginning and end told in reverse order. Again, another indication of time-dilation, not only represented by the time lapse of day and night but also in the lyrical content. He possibly died from some sort of accident, perhaps at the end on the train tracks by an incoming train. The rest of the people chasing him were simply other dead people trying to awaken him to this fact and it wasn't until he "drifted" back to the origin of his death that he calms down and walks along with them. He accepts them and drifts together. Maybe this video is him reliving his last moments in a purgatory-like state?...... or maybe I just overthought the whole thing (the most likely possibility) and the video is just fucking awesome.
I think it could be a symbolic experience of a guy who experiences PTSD in public after coming back from war (Man of War), and the people running are normal looking but his PTSD kicks in and he fears they are after him. It could also be symbolic for someone battling them selves inside their consciousness, until eventually they realize everything is okay.
It was a man (at daytime) and turned into what appears to be a mannequin (at nighttime). I took that scene at 2:51 to mean that as his anxiety became severe, he's had trouble telling which is REAL and which is not. In short, he began to lose touch with REALITY.
They didn't just leave this off the album, they left it off the B-sides EP they released after the album. To them, this wasn't even good enough to be a B-side. THAT is how good they are.
Now this portraits perfectly the feeling of anxiety and paranoia. Keeping yourself calm while you are scared and vulnerable on the inside. That feeling they out there to get you, and the thing is: They are.
Listening to it for the first time and I can't explain that feeling... here in my country such music is pretty uncommon, and I mostly listen to electronic, but Radiohead opened some kind of a new world for me... UPD from 2024 - it was the best and worst decision in my life to start listening Radiohead
I’ve seen some replies to a comment saying Radiohead has fallen off a little… they haven’t fallen off, they’re just growing old and it’s hard to do things in general when you’re old. If anything their work is more impressive now than ever because of the longevity of Radioheads determination
Guys, you know that dualism in Radiohead's art is a genius. It depends on how you see it. You might be depressed of the moment he falls and it seems he got cought, or you might feel a relief about the fact that nothing happens, they were running because he was running, they were just duplicating the shadows in his mind, and he must fall first to see that nobody wanted to do anything to him. That is also the sick spirit of a war. Everyone does it cause everyone does it and at the end of war everyone is stunning wtf was that. Collective paranoia and how easy we get gaslighted by that stupid pseudo-idea. That is why it is called "Man of war", to present the nature of that. Also, when we just run away from our shadows and don't fave it, it does not solve the problem but multiplicates it and infects others. That's the blindness of a war.
LookRain there was a nice article about it... they worked immensely hard and the photography was hand helding the entire way... no robot or repeatable gear setup. The director ended up in hospital from stress / dehydration when they were done.
What a throwback song. Sounds great, and like it belongs in the 90s. It's so weird to have a song released today with so much care and attention giving it, that sounds like its from the 90s. A time capsule. I don't think it would have fitted well on OK Computer, so a good idea to leave it off at the time imo, but that's taking nothing away from it. It's still a great b-side, or extra or, whatever you want to call it. Thanks for releasing it all these years later Radiohead. A lovely sentiment.
skatealex1 apparently the songs they choose to go in lot A were of such high quality we still haven't gotten over them. i still listen to Street Spirit (fade out) like every weekend. what did we do to deserve Radiohead?
I think the videoclip is about anxiety/depression - notice how the people chasing him always do so at the same pace as he runs , they're always just behind. At one point around 3:20 he runs like mad to get away from them, but they catch up to him anyway. In other words you can't get rid of the demons chasing you until you actually deal with it yourself, so put yourself first and make sure you are happy within yourself :)

Okay, the song is amazing, but this mv is a masterpiece as well. This was *perfectly* done.
Nice profile picture
Cheers! Forever a fan of the Wasteland. And Star Wars. And Saturday Night Live :D
Hey man do you know where i can listen the old version? And thank you for the data.
I remember someone sharing this song on TH-cam by the name Big Boots previously.
Totally agree, man! :) It sounds like it could totally be the opening song of a James Bond flick!
I totally agree.

The way I see is it’s a song about paranoia/schizophrenia, but i like your explanation a lot

I just realized that "The worms will come for you, Big Boots" is a reference to Hamlet, who basically says that everyone (including the rich and powerful) ends up in the same place, and being eaten by the same worms.
perhaps this is where the line that is similar in the wall came from??..
I don't think this is a reference to Hamlet but is instead simply a common theme and concept.

The video is basically showing the comparison between how you look on the outside, and how you feel on the inside, day and night. During the day, on the outside, he seems like a pretty nice guy, on the inside, he’s scared, running from something, he’s a fighter, and eventually, his night and day become one. The man of war pertains to the fact that he has a war of personas, and how his outside persona clashes with his feelings.
i interpreted it the same exact way
I interpret it as a war vet trying to escape his ptsd
This looks like a better interpretation, since its not only correct to the literal message of a war vet.

You are officially nominated for comment of year, **applause** completely feasible in the collective mind of Radiohead
I like the idea that the day is how he is on the outside and the night is how he feels on the inside. On the outside he's a confidant and happy looking man who is nice enough to run after someone to give them their phone back. On the inside he's an anxious man who's always worried about what others think and is constantly running from himself. "The worms will come for you, Big Boots."

that's rough, wish you the best, it's tough but you can power through it
Despite the fact that OK, Computer didn’t leave my CD player back in the late 90s for over 2 years, I’m actually glad this song was officially released 20 years later, as it helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. Thank you, Radiohead.
2 years??
Right here with ya.
I don't want to live in a world without Radiohead
Me too
This song is incredible. It has the creeping fear of Karma Police, the apocalyptic dread of Exit Music, and the existential torment of Street Spirit. And the music video is absolutely amazing. I didn't even really listen to the song until my second watch, I was just too captivated by the video.
Yes yes YES YES YES
Actually it reminds me a lot Karma Police, same tempo, same instrumentation, same mood. It's like they had to choose between those two songs to figure on OK Computer.
David Tessier yes but no, this song was "recorded" 1 year after OK Computer

Thanks for that precision, didn't know that ;)
Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't after you
But you might be an android
I've been waiting for this ever since Meeting People Is Easy.
Marco Baltazar you are not alone.
Marco Baltazar you. i like ypur comment. i got it. thats why i like it. good.
Literally used this as an example of social anxiety disorder for my university college final project
The professor couldn't help but tear up a bit.
As someone with an anxiety disorder it hits deep.
@@c2e.7877 it's all in your mind, our darkness is our best light.
that happened
I used 2+2=5 and it’s reference to 1984for my English project because my professor had said she loved Radiohead. When I presented it she got so excited and even said thom Yorke was a great intellectual
THOM YORKE WATCHES RICK AND MORTY
BY FAR THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME. ALL TIME.
Dom The Dank no. Chainsmokers are the way better
4:20 He stops and they don't catch him. When he starts walking again they follow him at the same pace as they did before. I smell hidden symbolism.
Maybe those people are there to follow him, not harm him.
They probably represent & symbolize the traumatic events that haunt us since our youth.
Lyrics..
Drift all you like
From ocean to ocean
Search the whole world
But drunken confessions
And hijacked affairs
Will just make you more alone
If you come home
I’ll bake you a cake
Made of all their eyes
I wish you could see me
Dressed for the kill
A nasty surprise
You’re my man-o-war
And the worms will come for your
Big boots
So unplug the phones
Stop all the taps
It all comes flooding back
From poisonous cloud
To poisoned dwarf
What a nasty surprise
You’re my man-o-war
And the worms will come for your
Big boots
Yeah the worms will come for you
Big boots
Static you are right
When* you come home
Actual New Lyrics:

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender

This cinematography is gorgeous👌🏻
as a cinema buff myself, yeah man this is good
Jake MacDonagh particularly that first cut to night yum
Can anyone tell if this is shot on film or digital? Looks like film to me
this video is a cinematic masterpiece
Hi I recommend a new indie album here on youtube called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
How did this song go unreleased...
And ok computer was their best album without this song , wow.
Eagerly waiting for the whole OKNOTOK bonus disc to release 😍😍
Jaikrishnan Menon what's on the bonus disk?
Jaikrishnan Menon it doesn't really fit the OK computer dynamic, that's why it wasn't released. This is more like the tracks in the bends, which naturally radiohead were trying to progress from. It's a great song though
Just when you think the art of marrying audio & visual is dead...this perfection

Yes, Jacob's Ladder
I'm a rabbit in your headlights....
Amazing song. It’s a testament to Radiohead’s greatest that they never even deemed this song worthy to put on an album.
This is the best music video I've seen in a long time. I love the use of perfectly cut night shots to represent his true state of mind. I love the encroaching shadows, and the musical timing of the first stalkers reveal. And I especially love the way he looked back at the girl. Masterful.
cookumms same
Hold up. There’s a guy who turns into a mannequin sitting on the street. God damn it I love this
Why?
@@yourknightmanny reminds him of the film Mannequin
What is the meaning of that?
@@danielfrankiensimanjuntak4310 I believe what he is seeing at night is actually what he is seeing in his head, and in the daytime is what is actually happening. At night he is completely alone because he feels alone except for the strangers out to get him. When he walks passed the guy sitting down he noticed in his mind he was another person sitting there but he may as well have been a mannequin because he is too scared to ask him for help, so it's just a lifeless figure in his head.
@@jordancook8511 So in the end he stll alone and the one who chasing him is himself?
God, what a masterpiece.
Arguably the greatest rock band of the last 35 years. All their albums, from OK Computer on, have been warnings we still refuse to heed.
i like u u seem nice, be blessed forever.
it's like he was a murderer and he's running away from the memory of all the people he's killed
Then what if he is the man in the 'Just' video and the people who died in that video are these memories chasing him now..
mdbee5 ohhhh now I like this video
Man of war. He returned from war.
Radiohead's music is timeless...
I've seen you absolutely everywhere recently. Placebo, Coldplay, Muse and now Radiohead. How is this happening hahaha
Hahaha ! yes I'm a music lover ! And maybe because we like the same bands, music ?
Absolutely agree with you
Here's my interpretation of the vid.

Love your interpretation!! 🖤
+Championette What about that white statue thing sitting on the sidewalk
I think it could be a symbolic experience of a guy who experiences PTSD in public after coming back from war (Man of War), and the people running are normal looking but his PTSD kicks in and he fears they are after him. It could also be symbolic for someone battling them selves inside their consciousness, until eventually they realize everything is okay.
It was a man (at daytime) and turned into what appears to be a mannequin (at nighttime). I took that scene at 2:51 to mean that as his anxiety became severe, he's had trouble telling which is REAL and which is not. In short, he began to lose touch with REALITY.
Props to the directors and their staff making the Radiohead music videos! They do a wonderful job!
imagina any band that would left this music out of an album, this is how good they are
imo its better than half of the actual album, could’ve replaced electioneering or the tourist
Radiohead leftovers are better than today's rock music
They didn't just leave this off the album, they left it off the B-sides EP they released after the album. To them, this wasn't even good enough to be a B-side. THAT is how good they are.
@myiqis2752 the Tourist is a great closer tho. I dont care much for Airbag
This can easily be in one of the episode of Black Mirror. It'll be PERFECT.
Or a JB intro at that.
Ooi Chek Tung they already are
very finan he means this song
@@scarfacegaming9848 this song is in an episode of black mirror btw

Now this portraits perfectly the feeling of anxiety and paranoia. Keeping yourself calm while you are scared and vulnerable on the inside. That feeling they out there to get you, and the thing is: They are.
Listening to it for the first time and I can't explain that feeling... here in my country such music is pretty uncommon, and I mostly listen to electronic, but Radiohead opened some kind of a new world for me...
UPD from 2024 - it was the best and worst decision in my life to start listening Radiohead

Welcome.
Radiohead- It Follows
I wonder what other gems this band is sitting on.
Low Key Sound System right!? Would love to dig through their hard drives.

The cure for cancer
My ears had been blessed again, thanks Radiohead!
I’ve seen some replies to a comment saying Radiohead has fallen off a little… they haven’t fallen off, they’re just growing old and it’s hard to do things in general when you’re old. If anything their work is more impressive now than ever because of the longevity of Radioheads determination
I love this song so much, but Jesus the highlight is the guitar at 1:45. Absolutely inspired work.

Anybody else get gradually depressed as the song slowly ends??
Am I the only one who felt bad for the man when he was on the ground thinking he was going to get beat up?
Paulo Ricardo Portillo Ramirez sappy xd do u know?
M3O6ix The definition of melancholy...
The video for me represents life itself. I don't think it's depressing, it feels more cathartic.
this band changed my life
oh man i can't imagine how much time and effort went into the production of this music video
LookRain there was a nice article about it... they worked immensely hard and the photography was hand helding the entire way... no robot or repeatable gear setup. The director ended up in hospital from stress / dehydration when they were done.
wow I knew it must've been difficult but the director ending up in a hospital? Never saw that coming wow much respect to the crew
Achoo I sometimes find it impressive how Radiohead release some of their best songs as b-sides or even not release them for so long like this one.
skatealex1 apparently the songs they choose to go in lot A were of such high quality we still haven't gotten over them. i still listen to Street Spirit (fade out) like every weekend. what did we do to deserve Radiohead?
I will take electric guitars when I can get them.
I think the videoclip is about anxiety/depression - notice how the people chasing him always do so at the same pace as he runs , they're always just behind. At one point around 3:20 he runs like mad to get away from them, but they catch up to him anyway. In other words you can't get rid of the demons chasing you until you actually deal with it yourself, so put yourself first and make sure you are happy within yourself :)
that beginning makes my soul go crazy oh my gosh thank you so much
same ☹️☹️
