The album that created a musical bond between an old prog rocker and his teenage son. A brilliant album that is still as fresh today as it was when it was released. One of my prog rock heroes,Peter Gabriel, is a massive fan of Thom Yorke.

    • @MatthewC33199
      @MatthewC33199 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

That totally makes sense because Peter Gabriel and Thom Yorke are kind of similar in the music they make. I'm a big fan of Gabriel too (Phil Collins was better with Genesis but Gabriel is the better singer/had the better solo career).

    "...Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
    Let down and hanging around..."
No one like Radiohead can transform an apparently depressing piece into an authentic musical masterpiece of redemption, suddently transporting the listener from sadness and despair to hope and clarity, precisely after threatening to end this sublime tune (notice the tempo change at (8:04), thereafter "bouncing back" its notes with newly grown wings of certainty and security. Thom Yorke's vocal sensibility in "Let Down" might never be matched. Que banda más chingona!!!

    Wake from your sleep
    The drying of your tears
    Today we escape
    We escape
    Pack and get dressed
    Before your father hears us
    Before all hell
    Breaks loose
    Breathe, keep breathing
    Don't lose your nerve
    Breathe, keep breathing
    I can't do this alone
    Sing us a song
A song to keep us warm
    There's such a chill
    Such a chill
And you can laugh a spineless laugh
We hope your rules and wisdom choke you
Now we are one in everlasting peace
We hope that you choke, that you choke
    We hope that you choke
    That you choke
    We hope that you choke
    That you choke
    Transport, motorways and tramlines
    Starting and then stopping
    Taking off and landing
    The emptiest of feelings
    Disappointed people
    Clinging on to bottles
And when it comes it's so
    So disappointing
    Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
    Let down and hanging around
    Shell smashed, juices flowing
    Wings twitch, legs are going
    Don't get sentimental
    It always ends up drivel
One day I'm going to grow wings
    A chemical reaction
    Hysterical and useless
    Hysterical and
    Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
    Let down and hanging around
    Let down again
    Let down again
    Let down again
You know, you know where you are with
You know where you are with
    Floor collapsing
    Floating, bouncing back
And one day I am going to grow wings
A chemical reaction (you'll know where you are)
Hysterical and useless (you'll know where you are)
Hysterical and (you'll know where you are)
    Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
    Let down and hanging around
    Karma police, arrest this man
    He talks in maths
    He buzzes like a fridge
    He's like a detuned radio
    Karma police, arrest this girl
    Her Hitler hairdo
    Is making me feel ill
And we have crashed her party
    This is what you'll get
    This is what you'll get
    This is what you'll get
    When you mess with us
Karma police, I've given all I can
    It's not enough
    I've given all I can
But we're still on the payroll
    This is what you'll get
    This is what you'll get
    This is what you'll get
    When you mess with us
    For a minute there
I lost myself, I lost myself
    Phew, for a minute there
I lost myself, I lost myself
    For a minute there
