    “The Last Restart,” that’s what the book should be called! It almost made me cry, because Fasting was my last chance at restarting. So powerful, you’re right, Jackie!

      I thought the exact same thing as I listen to this podcast! That would be a great title for the book. And so I loved it when Jackie mentioned that too! At the same time, I realize that the book is meant for first-timers as well :-) I can't wait for this book to be released! ❤

    I eat carnivore have done for the past 8 years. When I break my fast with meat and eggs I feel great no slump and feel satiated

      Congratulations 🎉! per her book I m one of those people that can’t weigh myself becuz it really misses me up so I use clothes to measure my success like Gin mentioned.

      I have just started fasting aging because in the past, I failed because I was not fasting clean like I should be. Big thank you for showing me my wrongs with why adding sweetener to my coffee or having a Coke Zero was making me do wrong to my fasting. Definitely clean fasting from now on, again thank you🙂

    I eat one meal a day… so my window is naturally less than one hour. Nothing to track… thank you, I love this video! 😊 one thing, I have heard Jason Fung say that a lemon in your water is ok…but it sounds like it is better to not have that.

    After 3 years of fasting, I just randomly made blueberry pancakes at 11 am. In an hour, I wanted a nap. It was a great reminder. The pancakes were fabulous, but they need to be dessert at the end of my window. Great discussion. Jackie is the one who got me started on this whole wonderful journey.

    What a great video. I learned so much and yall answerd a ton of questions for me. Ive been fasting (dirty apparently lol) but starting on November 1st im starting totally clean 20 hr fast with a 4 hour eating window. I think i got this girls. I really appreciate you both.

    I have been listening to Gin on podcasts for several months. This is the first time I have SEEN her and she just didn't look like the picture in my mind. Lol. I had to just listen and not watch this video. Such good info that I didn't want my weird perception to keep me from processing the info!

    I loved listening to both ladies! What they said makes a lot of sense. So, it seems that if someone wants to put up with possible shakiness or headache once in a while, then it is still POSSIBLE to ''get away with'' adding creamed coffee , etc., during their ''fasting'' period, and also lose weight. I only have 25 pounds to lose, so if it keeps me on the plan.....maybe not clean fasting, per se, but maybe some people NEED to add some of these things in order to remain consistent on this eating lifestyle (?)

    what about Dr. Boz theories or Glucose Goddess who says before eating take 1 T of ACV and start meal in order of Veggies 1st, carbs and fat 2nd and startch/dessert last...then move for 10 minutes??

    I saw a podcast yesterday with the Dr who wrote the book "Exercised ". All I could think was how I would love a book concerning activity from a scientific research standpoint and Gin Stephens approach to translating the information. That would be an awesome next...next book! Love Gin Stephens!

    if you are not taking in any calories, you are fasting. is it an autophagy fast if you do diet soda, or use sugar free creamer in your coffee? no, but don't tell people they're not fasting just because they're not drinking only water or black coffee/tea. weight loss is calories in and calories out. period. whatever gets you through your fast....DO IT! This whole conversation would be discouraging to someone who is just trying to lose unwanted weight.

    The Daniel fast is considered a clean fast, it’s clean eating.

    I love you both! My friend gave me Delay, Don’t Deny. I love it and got Gins charting book. Now its only black ice coffee, unsweet ice tea, or topo chico!

    I start out eating whatever in my eating period and lose. Then eating better FEELS good, so I gravitate towards cleaner fasting. Sweets are severely limited after dinner bc I'll wake with cotton mouth so I don't do it.

    After reading her book, I’ve been wondering if smelling and thinking about foods, which also causes an insulin response, hinders weight loss. If you talk to her again, could you ask her if she’s looked into that research.

    Nice interview!! Timely too - as I am only into IF for 10 weeks now and devouring 😂 Fast, Feast, Repeat! Just watched the TED talk Gin references in the book (Eran Segal, I think?) which was eye-opening. I'm still trying to find my "sweet spot" with fasting. Good stuff!!

    Daniel Trevor's book "unholy trinity... how carbs, sugar and oils make us fat sick and addicted" it says a 100% healthy fat does not break a fast. (Page 145). Examples: butter, MCG oil, ghee, heavy cream. What has your and Gin Stephen's research uncovered regarding that? Thank you in advance.

    Why does Gin say that we don’t expect weight loss for the first month? What is the explanation?

    In fact, I think that if you want to make Intermittent Fasting lifestyle and get long-term benefits, you need to focus on eating window, not so much on the fast it self. But let's not make it like a diet "window"😂, because there's keto-fasting, carnavore-fasting, calorie restricted-fasting e.t.c.

    I’m so frustrated. I have been fasting for 12 weeks and haven’t lost any weight. I started with16/8. And pretty quickly moved to OMAD. I’m now trying 20/4. Nothing moves the scale. What I’m I doing wrong

    I am so ready to start IF! I do have one question though. I understand I need to drink plain water. However, the only way I can drink water is when I put a tiny bit of pink salt. Think that would raise my insulin level?

      No salt does not raise insulin levels. You can have clean electrolyte powders that don’t have sweeteners

    do you put the whole packet of LMNT in your cup? I 1/2 it and not sure if I'm missing out on all the benefits.....? also do we need it everday? Anyone taking LMNT daily? and how much? Thank you in advance..

      I eat low carb so having a whole packet is so helpful for me! I can feel a difference when I don’t include it. If you’re feeling fine you might be okay with 1/2 but I know for me I have to have the whole packet:)

    Isn’t element flavored so Gin would not allow it on a clean fast? Just curious because I’m reading her book. Sorry if I’m like the 4,000th person to ask this.

      they have both flavored and unflavored. if sticking to strict clean fasting, you would want to stay with the unflavored.

    oh crap. i just checked my coffee and it has natural and artifical flavors in it >.< oh well, i'll finish it and grab a pure black coffee. Does ketones matter? I've been fasting for 20+ hrs and then i'll have my meal, and then the next morning around 16 hrs I'll measure my ketones and its like 0.1-0.3 ...does ketones matter?

    I am interested in teaching my glucose levels. My husband is diabetic and he has a CGM but he has to have a prescription for it. Is there a way to get a CGM without prescription?
