At last!! Someone who can ride corners on this Rocket. I have a GT but have fitted mid position foot rests as I prefer it for bike control & the ability to stand up. Having watched many videos on the Rocket(s), most riders (especially from the USA) ride through the city, get on the highway, ride in a straight line, open it up in 3rd gear and giggle at the torque & don't even get into top gear. (GT owner, U.K.)
OC: I would and have taken my Rocket 3 to the mountains and fast sweeping roads out around Vegas, definitely is better on the longer sweeping corners than tight twisties but you just have to adjust how you ride, especially since there's so much torque, it'll just pull you out of the corner with a ton of force. Picking your line right and body position makes a world of difference.
@@eitanzvik Good bikes BTW! The Vulcan S is quick, and handles in a very sporty way! High pegs give you a good lean angle! It is a cruiser (with very sporty handling)! Stay safe and shiny side up brother!
OC: my first and current bike is a Triumph Bonneville, with about the same lean angle as the rocket. I absolutely love taking it to some twisties, and would definitely rock a Rocket! I fully agree that a bigger, heavy bike and can make you use more judgement in turns. As a beginner rider, it's a plus to me.
I was on these roads two weeks ago, I dragged pegs,,,, brake pedal and gear shifter. Lots of times I just picked my foot and said the heck with it because there was no room left for my foot 🤔
I have a 2023 Rocket 3R, chrome edition. It's my first cruiser after 30 years of sport bikes and 10 years racing. I have found that you can ride the Rocket 3R quite fast in twisties with very little effort. The trick is to get forward on the bike, get some weight over the front wheel by keeping your upper body forward, and hang off a bit. Riding it in a combination of road race and dirt track style means you get way more ground clearance that what is experienced in this video. An extra 10 degrees. Once you move your body to prepare to hang off a bit, corner entry is effortless. If you want to tighten your line, just relax, and it falls into the corner. No need to push it down, no effort at all if done correctly. Just relax your arms, and she falls right in. If you want to get it a bit wider mid-corner, then give it a bit more throttle. Look well ahead, because she basically turns by herself once you initiate, and holds a line perfectly. In a forward aggressive position she can do quite a bit of small mid-corner correction if needed. When you have one cheek off and you're mid-corner, she responds well to leg pressure. The inside leg is weighted, because you have a cheek off the seat. To tighten the line, reduce pressure on your outside leg (don't take it off the peg MotoGP style). No need to press down on the inside leg, because this is happening due to your butt cheek hanging off on the inside. With this technique you can adjust the Rocket 3R for minor changes with the bars mid-corner. Just takes a bit of practice, and keeping relaxed on the handlebars. I keep the balls of my feet on the pegs when riding the 3R aggro. In this way you can ride very aggressively in twisties and use all that torque on corner exit. A spectacularly engineered bike, and beautiful too. I still have sport bikes for track days and a sport tourer for trips over 1,000 miles.
I have a 2007 Rocket 3 and have been all over those hills around Helen, the Dragon, and Cherohala Skyway. I got sideways in the curve by the dam at Fontana on the Moonshiner (28). It was easier before I went darkside. When the mech at Douglasville asked if i rode hard, he understood when I said it had Dragon scratches on the footboards. Lean angle has always been the limiting factor.
I scrape my Harley Road King floorboards all the time. They're like razor blades. The scraping doesn't bother me until it's the actual mounting brackets or frame...that's when it'll get you in trouble.
Used to ride those roads all the time when I lived near Blairseville.. Excellent time for sure! Blood mountain was one of my favorite. Looks like the road is ageing now. Richard Russel was paved no so long ago if I remember correctly. Cant wait to move back eventually from flat land central Florida. The mountains will spoil you as a rider for sure. Nice bike and video
Im no super fast rider but on the heavy version of my mt09 (t9gt) I had a local Rocket 3 rider misidentify me as a friend of his and so he took off after me in the local mountain road and I was surprised I could in no way lose him and in fact I suspect he could have passed me except he had decided to video the bike ahead (me) ...pretty amazing bike I think
I have taken my Rocket 3R to Blood Mountain, after only owning it a week. You did a lot better than I did! I would say I enjoyed the views better than the tight twisties.
The Rocket 3 is a fantastic bike! Shaking above 3800 RPM? Thats odd. That needs to be looked at. Unless you were talking about it maybe vibrates a little more or maybe was a bit buzzy above 3800. Scraping the pegs...the more you lean your body the less you have to lean the bike.
OC: Love the look of the Rocket 3R, but I'll always choose a sportbike or supersport for a day of riding in the mountains. That aggressive racing body position is where I want to be while going up and down the mountain roads.
yea triple magic i rode tridents and bonnys back in the day and started on 650s then stayed with the 750s the 3 cylinder engines long stroke and way they rev is a joy to ride
i know it's probably obvious to some of you, but the technique in riding a cruiser is completely different than a sportbike. you're going to set up for corners differently, use a different line, throttle and brake different. of course you're going to be slower, but speed and handling isn't the real goal of a cruiser anyhow. i've taken several big cruisers and baggers on technical roads. if you're on a date, for example, you don't want to scare the shit out of her. just enough excitement to get her blood pumping, while still knowing she's perfectly safe. cruisers are perfect for that.
I am glad for this review in the mountains because I live in Utah and ride the mountains all the time. I had the old version of the Rocket III and it was a fight in the twisties. I am not a sport bike rider but I do enjoy laying down my big Victory Vision in the tight corners. I really like this bike but I think your review helps me tame my urges and stick with what I have. Thanks.
Hey Chase, maybe check your peg position, they are adjustable and can be raised by an inch, R has about 30 degs of lean and possible to take through twistier and not scrape tho most Rocket owners tend to smooth their pegs off, not sport bike (nor a Diavel) but much more than most cruisers etc, definitely have to muscle it Rocket has long gearing in 5-6 and 70% throttle 1-3 and why 4th feels so good, 😎 Check out What A Day (OZ Rider) and he really hustles his Rocket 🚀 Quick shifter makes a big difference, makes shifts silk and really adds a sportier vibe to it. All that peg scraping really hammers home the difference between this beautiful home and a Diavel 1260. The Ducati can be ridden so much more aggressively when the opportunity presents itself. The Rocket is an awesome bike for sure, but the Ducati offers more versatility.
OC. Yes I would take it to the mountain. I, like others, would try and find roads with long sweeping corners. I just enjoy riding and have ridden enough to be able to enjoy most bikes out of their element if I set my expectations straight up front. I just rode a Kymco Spade 150 1200 miles on a week get out of town tour from Oregon to Idaho and back and had a great time! 😆.
Nice bike, watched the first test ride of you going up to the mountain and back. On the curves you were not driving aggressive at all and you were scraping the lower set pegs, I would see if you can adjust them higher.
OC: I'd take the Rocket to the mountains but somewhere like you did with long, sweeping turns. Not tight technical turns. This looks like it would be so fun to ride on a curvy highway.
A great review brother. I have been thinking about looking at the rocket. However I was wondering about the lean angles and the scrapping. Your is the only video I have found that actually tells it like it is regarding lean angles. Thankyou🤗

Beautiful part of the state- love N GA, esp the area your riding there. 60 through Chattahoochee Nat Forest is awesome too. Great to see the Rocket navigating those twisties.
Thank you very much for the video. I am currently trying to get a sports suspension tuning. The bike works very well in curves but has excessive bounce on the front fork and the handlebars sometimes wobble. The Rocket dares to ride with other sports bikes and frankly it does it very well. I hope to find that adjustment I need.
@@windtherapy99 You win, I actually didn't know the weight of the bike until you said it's the same as mine. The bike's dry weight is 641lbs. I thought it was a heavier bike.

"Mountains" and "Twisty Roads"?? Fella, you should try riding in England. All of our B roads are ultra twisty, with 1/2 the width of the ones you just rode!! But it's still a beautiful country to ride in during the Summer.
I’ve ridden a lot of mid control and forward controls bikes and my streetglide has the floorboards somewhere in between and it’s about perfect. I get what you were sayin about the extreme forward controls and I wouldn’t buy another one.
A Rocket in the mountains? Sure, I was born in the mountains, and where I first rode. Sweeping corners look great, tight and technical would be do-able, but not as much fun.
I'm used to naked bikes, and now own a CB650R, which I love! But as I get older, I want something more "beefy". Is there a world of a difference when curving (pegs scrapping), comparing to a normal naked bike? The bike isn't available in my city at the moment for test drive, so I just want to have a clearer notion of how the beast behaves in the Twisties. For me that's a must (I'm not a maniac driver, my driving is mostly chill)
At 14:45 you speak about shaking is that if you acceleraat at full power i notice by mine 4th gear full trottle at 60-70mph a vibration but each 2 sec not continue also in 2th gear i feel it...
What is it you want? It is a cruiser and very powerful. I own a 2022 Rocket 3G. If you want tight corners then try Cedar Point roller coasters Ohio or try to get a ride on a F-16 or F-22. This is silly. "It's scrapping, scrapping. It is not made for that. If you want Isle of Man TT then fly to England and get a puddle jumper to the island and rent a sports bike. And BTW it doesn't make ice cream or donuts in case you think it should.
so jealous, I rode all my bikes up in north georgia on what's called 'six gap' except my rocket. always wanted to put the rocket in N. georgia, but now I don't have it anymore
Would really like to know if you can increase the height on the pegs for more lean angle. I’m looking at getting one of these and had seen a promo vid of the rider getting his knee down so something seems amiss somewhere.
So glad you did this video. But which do like better rocket or sportster on a curvy mountain ride ? Or to hard to say because not enough time with the harley
Hey Chase. Currently have a 23 Sportster S and was thinking of upgrading to the new Rocket 3 R Storm. I usually take the Sportster S to twisties. Would you recommend the swapV
It's been few years, but used to ride up there most every weekend with the North Georgia Southern Cruisers (SCRC). Did a lot of it on a fairly big bike, the Honda VTX1800, since I'm 6'-4" and 240ish. Tell me please, what's your size?, and would you have rated the R3 higher if you were size-matched to the bike??? (If you're smaller, then the bike probably feels a bit too big to flick around, but when you're my size, about the only bike that doesn't look small under me is a bagger, or maybe a Street Glide at a minimum. Been there, ridden that.. won't succumb to that brands' $$$-sucking tactics..). This might be one of the best options for a bigger man wanting a sporty power cruiser with an incredible powerplant, yes? (I kinda like the thought of 150/150 rear wheel numbers...) 🙂
how are you getting those head on camera shots? Do you sometimes have a camera man you chase? I woudl think you would see a long selfie stick in the FPV?
Funny how it is so common for motorcyclists in the twisties to ignore the meaning of a double yellow because it is of course so much easier/safer to pass than in with driving a 4 wheel vehicles ...so easy to ignore that I think video makers on youtube forget and failing to consider the fact they are displaying themselves breaking the law. lol I mean I doubt anything would ever come of it but Im just saying
'Scrapping pegs' on a bike doesnt really mean anything, for one you're scraping the 'angle sensors' aka bolts attached to the peg and if you think going around corners at 70mph is slow you may have to rethink the way you ride completely
@@AridersLifeYT that's what you'd think but he claimed he was alone and I never seen the same car or bike tailing him or passing him for the camera shots.
I can ride a Yamaha XT 600 way fast and fun that this boring riding. I love the design and hate the Mamouth engine. Please, make it in a 3 cylinder 1600cc or 1800 that one can drive sportly.
You are leaning for the sake of leaning! At those speeds, with those light bends - you just don't need to! How you scraped with that speed and those turns makes NO sense! You could have done it all with counter steering! Much love ❤

A simple tune remap on this bike will have it at 160Hp/160TQ at the wheel! Instead of 140/140
I’ve been reading there is a Triumph “stage kit” that takes it close to 200hp at the wheel. Unreal!
Welcome to the cruiser life bruh!
Beautiful part of the state- love N GA, esp the area your riding there. 60 through Chattahoochee Nat Forest is awesome too. Great to see the Rocket navigating those twisties.
I heard that when you scrape the pegs it’s a little warning but the Avalon Cobra Chrome tyres allow for a tad more.
That’s a beautiful bike. Maybe the nicest one I have seen.
I thought those pegs where adjustable up and down a bit did you move them up?
Great ride in the mountains. Ove that bike
I love everything about this bike except the price.
You love the weight too?
@@AkaBull 160lb of torque wouldn’t be usable if it weighed 500lbs.
@@windtherapy99 Wait what. You said the R1 did what. No not Blockhead's FXLRS.
@@AkaBull blockheads bike weighs 670lbs. About the same as this. Wym
@@windtherapy99 You win, I actually didn't know the weight of the bike until you said it's the same as mine. The bike's dry weight is 641lbs. I thought it was a heavier bike.
Left leaning typically scrapes sooner than right due to the crown in the road…unless you are in the UK, then it would be the opposite…and also wrong.
😜
i took my 2005 rocket 3 up to arkansas in the mountains and caught up to some crotchrockets in the twisties who were just putting along. so I passed them up and began hitting it hard. I scraped pegs for about 20 minutes till I got to a gas station and the crotchrockets had started to keep up with me when they saw a huge bike outrace them scraping pegs.. they pulled up and asked me "what the hell is that huge bike that we could hardly keep up with?"
That's a beautiful view, been there many times. Stay safe out there.
What part is that? We go out once a year and ride that whole area but not sure where that last spot is.
@@SLBPerformance He was going up Hwy 129 and then went onto 180 just before Blairsville and then on to Richard Russell Scenic Hwy. back down toward Helen
love the triple triumph engine
For some reason, the Triumph Rocket 3R reminds me of a smaller version of the Dodge Tomahawk.
More like an F1-50 🤭🤭
At less than 1/3 the capacity and 1/20th the cost but way more practical.
SMORTINDUSTRIES!!!
Ha! That's not a cruiser, it's a monster! 😃
Nice ride with rocket .....mindblowing 🤟👌
so jealous, I rode all my bikes up in north georgia on what's called 'six gap' except my rocket. always wanted to put the rocket in N. georgia, but now I don't have it anymore
OC: yes. if it's a motorcycle then yes. that simple.
Would really like to know if you can increase the height on the pegs for more lean angle. I’m looking at getting one of these and had seen a promo vid of the rider getting his knee down so something seems amiss somewhere.
He's not hanging off the bike. Also, the pegs are adjustable
@@noizychildalso the suspension could be improperly set up for his weight.
OMG HAPPY ROBOT EYES!!
So glad you did this video. But which do like better rocket or sportster on a curvy mountain ride ? Or to hard to say because not enough time with the harley
How do you get the 3rd person shots?
So what we need are electric adjustable pegs for when we use sport mode
would forward foot controls have avoided scraping those pegs and made it a better ride?
Did the new Sportster S and Rocket - time to do the newest Diavel S.
You spent most of the video talking about pegs scraping. Yea, we get it, it's a cruiser.
how are you getting those head on camera shots? Do you sometimes have a camera man you chase? I woudl think you would see a long selfie stick in the FPV?
It has a lean angle. I would not take that up a mountin for speed. Why you have Sport Bikes for that. Cool Bikes and engine... ;-D
He's just testing it out for others who maybe interested in buying and eventually taking it up a mountains.
Whats the lean angle on that bike I cant find it anywhere ?
Does the Rocket 3 have a quickshifter? I know its not a sportbike but just curious.
is it a painful process to raise the foot pegs?
I think he'd have to go with forwards, that would help just a bit.
What ever happened to the Scrambler 1200 !? Any follow up!?
What sort of wind hits you when riding it. It is cruiser but without a wind shield.. isn’t it difficult
needs to be raised abt 3-4 inches for clearance haha
@ 3:30, probably from a lead car, but what kind (brand, model) camera took that footage?
Chase for God's sake find a 2nd gen Vmax and try that on the twisties
Juat about everyone i know keeps telling me to buy a Harley, nope the rocket 3 is the bike i want...
Might be a dumb question but if you're by yourself how are you getting the camera angles from the side and front looking at you and the bike?
he would do the road twice and has a follow car with a camera crew.
@@AridersLifeYT that's what you'd think but he claimed he was alone and I never seen the same car or bike tailing him or passing him for the camera shots.
@@bigk7788 thats because the vlog was solo, then later it was filmed with just a follow car and spliced together.
I’ll take anything to the mountains if it’s what I got to ride.
Yo chase! you got any music tips for crusing around or going hella fast around a corner? Lol :D
Such a great looking bike!
hi can someone tell me if the speed in the America misinformed miles or kilometres can’t remember. love the video great roads great bike well done.
Shave the pegs 1" and you'll be able to take faster tighter turns while 'canyon carving'.....
What one of the bike is the fastest the 3 R or The GT
Passcodes and fobs would make more sense.
2500cc is crazy
I disagree. I’d take a rocket to space not mountains.
💥💥💥
Countersteer and ride it like you stole it! I'm giving my Duc and R1 bros a hard time with it. They hate me!
I have a 2018 Yamaha Vmax that will give that thing a fit. Say when.
Yea. People rode Harly Davidsons in war.
I can ride a Yamaha XT 600 way fast and fun that this boring riding. I love the design and hate the Mamouth engine. Please, make it in a 3 cylinder 1600cc or 1800 that one can drive sportly.
take it to a drag strip
OC nice 🙂 bro
You are leaning for the sake of leaning! At those speeds, with those light bends - you just don't need to! How you scraped with that speed and those turns makes NO sense! You could have done it all with counter steering! Much love ❤
Is it really this quiet? I can’t even hear it!
No; not unless you are riding an XDiavel.
