It's European law which generally requires express permission for something to be lawful. It's called Napoleonic law. UK law is based on common law which is basically what comes down from judges deciding the results of cases over time.

The biggest misconception in 2023 is 8/10 people think you need their permission to film them from a public place.
Where they got this idea from, I'm not quite sure.
In b-roll pictures from the past people smiled and waved at the camera, making it nearly impossible to get footage of their normal daily activities.🙂

@@northernaudits I would love for you to start requesting the 999 calls they make. It would be fun to hear the lies they tell the operator. For this interaction, I would have been pointing out the irony of a security company who is this paranoid about possible break-ins. Any potential customer may think twice about trusting them, considering how little faith they have in their own security.
Do any of these security types ever know the public photography laws.
In these times the authorising bodies should be teaching this.
It should be rudimentary at this point.
Same applies to the police.

Protects limited understanding of the law is quite embarrassing for those of us in the industry. Truly shameful.
It's totally beautiful when an idiot runs his mouth off telling the world and his wife that he is going to make a false report to the police without realising he is providing the evidence of the false report which could land him in jail.
I do loathe arrogant idiots who smirk and say that's not going to happen ! But it is such fun to watch the colour drain from their faces when one proves them wrong chapter and verse. Auditors call it the walk of shame
Whilst Protec don't supply security staff or train them, they do provide security solutions and equipment. That means that they have to have some understanding of the laws around security and privacy etc to ensure their equipment meets regulations.

What a load of rubbish. All they do is manufacture and install overpriced fire alarms. They are clever though as these products are what are called closed protocol to stop other companies from taking over the systems they install.

Then they demand to know answers, and you never give them a straight answer like "I'm filming to put it on TH-cam" straight away, not that you have to answer any questions.
You go along with their nonsense that "you need to get permission from the owners" for a while, and when you tell them that you don't, they refuse to listen.
Then they sometimes make up criminal offences which haven't been committed 15:18 "Attempt to break in," make up non-existent offences like 15:20 "Coversion of evidence, to stop us from getting that details back," and talk absolute nonsense like 15:25 "I'm sure you don't want the Met Police on this, because that's who's responsible for Bosch"
1 - There's no such word as "coversion."
2 - That sentence is grammatically incorrect.
3 - The Met Police has no jurisdiction in Lancashire.
4 - The Police are not Bosch's employees.
Plus the usual comparisons between businesses and houses.
as a electrician I deal with this company now and then but after seeing this i think i will take my business elsewhere, wow I'm absolutely shocked at their behaviour what SCUMBAGS. if my employees or managers acted like that with members of the public I would dismiss them immediately. well ProTech you've lost a customer. I hope other electrical contractors and firms watch this disgusting behaviour. and I hope the boss who he was talking about takes a very dim view on these bullying fools .
I think it's some individuals rather than the whole business. Also I would imagine they are now very educated (or so I've heard) so give them a last chance 👍👍
One thing I'll say is they told you you're on private property, the lamp post has a council designation number on it. Point that out to them and they'll not have a leg to stand on.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the Amazon car can only go onto public property as they would have to pay royalties to any company if they went onto their property. If you check the route the Amazon car went on, it only went halfway down Beale Road.

Or just filming in public and basic drone laws. My best advice would be that if you see someone filming your business from public just observe from a distance and only intervene if they genuinely give you cause for concern. If you feel you need to speak to them remember that they are allowed to film in public whatever they can see, and remain polite. Don't make demands or tell they what they can or cannot do. Also a drone weighing less than 250g is highly likely to be legal to fly over.

I hope the CEO of “Protec” gets to see this and give out the appropriate re-training.

To think, if they had been nice to you, they might have been able to make an agreement/deal with you for some high quality promotional footage of their facility, ...but no, they had to act like fools. Awesome drone footage mate.

I used to work at Protec 35 years ago, it's a really good business actually. I still know loads of people there. Shame they don't educate themselves on public filming etc. 🤔
Thanks. I think most businesses do realise but the odd few let them down. I also think sometimes the regular training at some of these companies leave them with the impression that they should "tackle" people filming in public when they really just want them to stay alert and look out for hostile reconnaissance. Once some of these people enter the argument on camera (and they only ever come to me on my videos) then they find it hard to back down and admit they made a mistake so they continue to argue and end up saying silly things to try and win. Usually after I visit they bolster their training and improve.
I'm imagining the call handler at the police call centre.
"He's doing what......taking pictures on public land?....... Oh thats OK, he's allowed. You've not got any amatuer lawyers out there making an arse of themselves have you?" 🙂
😂 they probably tell them first to close their gates. There's an easy way to tell if the police aren't coming because they close the gate. It's probably the first thing they tell them. If they close the gates - they have had the usual "auditor pep talk" that the call handlers give them. Once the gates close they are totally aware of the police advice on dealing with audits and the police aren't coming 😂 part of that advice will be "make sure no interacts with them" or similar, at that point that's when they probably shot out to call off the guys 😂

The fool admitted that his intent was to make a false complaint of attempted break in to the police, and unlawfully detain you! And he works for a company involved in fire detection that has dealings with the police!
We can ridicule the ludicrous delusional behaviour, ridiculous levels of hubris, and obvious cognitive dissonance, but the biggest concerns are over the ease with which they attempt enforce imaginary laws, and infringe other people’s rights, completely without authority.
Ultimately they are far more dangerous than they imagine the photographer to be.
Yeah false reports can lead to TH-camrs being detained for hours and the liars usually get away with it. Several TH-camrs recently spent a long time sat in cells because allegedly false reports were made. If it turns out security made these reports then who will pay these TH-camrs compensation for their ordeals ?
@@northernaudits The public, sadly. What we need is a false allegations law that creates genuine accountability for these serial nappy filling liars. But there would have to be a section that holds the police officers personally accountable when they fail to properly investigate such allegations. That would hopefully address the issue to a large extent. But I’m just a ‘conspiracy theorist’ and ‘climate change denier’ sitting sunning myself in a glorious heatwave…👀🧐😎😜🙈

Well is does strengthen my case as to why I'm filming. When people say stop filming, yeah right. It's not an isolated incident. On my next one he tells the police I am on his site and refusing to leave, but because I'm recording it all, we all know I didn't even go on the site at all. Only problem: the police never seem to be bothered about the false reports. In my latest one the police said the business said I went into their property, I told the police they had lied and he said "that's ok" ohh is it, can I make something up then about them then please?
