    I get SO FRUSTRATED when this happens. I'll be blending my foundation and the beauty blender will literally pull off the foundation leaving a giant hole in my foundation. Some spots will stay in place while others will just lift off and not stick to my skin. I'm going to have to do a little bit of trial and error to find out what works best for me.

      i know why this happens. its because of using dry beauty blender. coz its porous and tends to absorb things. we wet it so that it can no longer absorb any thing

    I’ve got dry skin with lots of acne scars and folliculitis so I’m often dealing with dry patches and/or redness to cover but full coverage foundation looks crazy on me so I’ve just mastered spot concealing and using skin tints and I get compliments on how “real” my makeup looks all the time

    • @purrgundy
      @purrgundy ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Love that! Do you have any skin tint recommendations? I've been on the lookout for ones with SPF for my sensitive skin lately!

    • @sunilgangarh7448
      @sunilgangarh7448 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@purrgundy My current faves are the Rimmel Skin Kind or the Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30! I use pretty small amounts and pair it with spot concealing and it does wonders for looking like real skin. The Haus Labs foundation is god tier for complexion too. Again, I only use small amounts of that so it’s like a skin tint

      Wdym by "spot concealing"? Like concealer? Sorry if that's a dumb question kinda new to the intricacies of makeup

    • @sunilgangarh7448
      @sunilgangarh7448 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@bron8290 Perfectly fine question as it’s not widely practiced these days! It’s basically using a concealer that’s an exact match to your skin and targeting just where you need concealing (like spots). It’s not a brightening technique, it’s just used to cover problem areas. Mostly used for models or people who like light coverage

    • @tammiemartinez6485

      I never got into using liquid foundations (even as a teen). I didn't have problematic skin, just a few blemishes during that time of the month but not even every month. The one time I tried it I immediately took it off because I felt like I was wearing a mask. It's always been powder foundation for me and then it's lightly applied. As a young adult that's when I got attacked by the pimple squad which I have some scarring from. Once skin tints hit the scene hard I started using one along with my powder foundation. I like the way that combo works. If I don't want to I won't use the skin tint all over my face. Because the match is perfect no one can tell. Love this because like I previously said I don't feel like I'm wearing a mask and my face feels like it can breathe...

    I'm not a fan of influencers dripping products, especially makeup products all over the skin for visual effects more than functionality because it is way too much product. People at home forget that they don't have studio lighting or high end cameras and it will look different at home and especially in natural lighting. I appreciate your approach to educate with a realistic viewpoint. I use the back of my hand as a palette for liquid/ cream products for myself and use a glass pallette when applying makeup on others. This method allows for an even base and better blending of contour, highlight and blush prior to setting with powder.

    I have extremely oily skin, I also suffer with some texture, acne and my pores are large. I use elf toner and moisturizer, and a tiny layer of elf setting spray before applying foundation with a beauty blender (I get it wet and ring it out before I start anything, and let it sit for a few) and a don't touch powder. It works really well for my face and has taken me years to perfect! I use the occasional primer (very thin layer) on my cheeks and around my nose if I'm particularly dry and oily that day. He's right, it takes time but it's so worth it! Thanks Robert for teaching me how to find what works for my skin✨💜

I do use a primer but only a small amnt in the tzone, where pores are more visible & for me, primer does actually help more than a moisturizer or a serum. The hydration mist & beauty blender combo are also my saving grace for tying my whole look together and for patchiness, again smth you've mentioned before that I've incorporated. You’ve said it once before about the mist and I have to say it’s perfect. My skin dry/dehydrated sitting under the air conditioner/heater at work is screaming ‘give me moisture’. I did get the new Estée Lauder hydrating mist, I feel 100 pulling out one of their products but it really is good - then I tap it in just like you said and day at work done. It lasts about 5 hours. Go to lunch looking like scrambled eggs and return looking fresher with no eggs - do wait for it dry into your skin or you’ll run the risk of wiping it off! Love you Robert ❤

    These tips are great. One thing to note too is the ingredients of your makeup or skincare!, Do not mix silicone, oil and water based ingredients. I've been doing the same routine and recently it gets patchy after just an hour outside (humid tropical) and it was driving me crazy as towhat could've caused it. After checking alll of my skincare and makeup ingredients, it was my new sunscreen which was water based was causing my makeup to separate haha (since all of my makeup is silicone based and well I guess I was using my sunscreen as the primer too)

    It took me a long time to realize I was over-prepping my skin with skincare. I’m not one to use too much of any given skincare product, but my face has generally been dry, so I love the feel of thicker, heavier products. But these don’t do well with foundation. My makeup went on so much better when I just cleansed my skin and applied a runny, slightly creamy serum. I thought it was crazy when I tried it, but it works beautifully! I was just making all the wrong assumptions about what my skin should need under makeup.

The very last part about having patience was really nice because I feel like I’m wasting money trying all these products. I didn’t educate myself first. But on my dry skin I use a vegan skincare oil after my moisturizer. I like the Bobbi brown vitamin c primer moisturizer, that’s my next buy! I need cream primers and limited hydrating powder. Powder helps with my creasing but to combat the dry look after the powders I use a dewy lightweight glow setting spray before and after starting makeup. 😅

    My make up used to separate and I was adamant I had oily skin, I barely moisturised because I didn’t want to exacerbate the greasy texture. My friend told me about her friend who had the same problem and a dermatologist said she actually had dry skin and it was oily because she was ‘cleaning’ it too much and stripping it of its natural oils. I stopped with my obsessive need to clean my skin with 100’s of different products and moisturise daily and my skin is so much better and definitely thanks me for it!

    Instead of using Setting Sprays, Especially for Dry Skin. You can use Toner. You can also use Toner in replacement of Water with your Beauty Sponge. The ideal of using Toners as a replacement of Setting Sprays or Water is because it has all the natural ingredients & Hydration the Skin needs to rehydrate. Most Dry Skin people always wonder why their makeup is always separating- including myself, is because dry skin & Alcohol products don't cooperate it tends to separate your makeup. Makeup products that contain Alcohol will eventually dry out the skin. For dry skin people, non- alcohol makeup products are your best suggestions, in my opinion and from my experience. I hope this helps. [:

    • @majesticsammie1234

      @@Jaishr__eeram By all means any Toner without chemical should work and yes rose water toners should work. Matter of fact I use the Thyers Rose Petal Toner and it works wonders. Instead of a Toner, you may also use a Makeup Mist Setting Spray, if you look into the ingredients you will notice those Misting Makeup Spray Bottles do not contain Alcohol. I hope this helped. ☺️

    The mineral powder thing works. I had really bad eczema the other day and was going to see a band (Placebo, yay!), allll around my nose & eyebrows was peeling so I did a gel moisturiser, not much foundation but pulled too hard on my powder lid & spilt tons of powder on my face. I panicked but on looking in the mirror it worked! It did all peel the next day but it worked.

      I've had this happen too...try using a gentle exfoliation product weekly and dermaplane. As far as the nose, he says its a really stubbron place for makeup, even for him. Maybe skin the foundation on your nose & instead do some Contouring and highlight ? That's what I've started doing, along with a very small amnt of super fine powder that's my skin tone. I use a really small amnt on a small little poof if I don't wanna contour that day and it looks really nice. Hope those tips will maybe help?
