Not meaning to sound rude but with respect I’m so sick of people with literally flawless skin talking about how it’s not ok to wear cakey make up. No understanding of the fact that some people actually want to cover their imperfections and that this is often near impossible to do without having full coverage over them.. which is bound to look cakey at times
Right I’m acne prone and have so many dark sports and I’m trying to find better ways to do my makeup but these videos really be no help. They always have flawless skin. I just wish people who have acne/darkspots and ect. would do these type of videos more.
there are tons of videos of people with acne sharing how they cover their imperfections as naturally as they could, just search for "makeup for acne" or something like that. I used to be obsessed with covering my acne and hyperpigmentation that my makeup looks so cakey and weird but now I'm only about covering hyperpigmentation but not so much acne bcuz we can't really hide acne no matter how much concealer we put on top of it the bump is still there and the makeup base just ends up looking weird and unnatural. Acne sucks, but I've learned to normalize it to myself, even if it peeks through my foundation. It's stressful sure, but I'm moving my focus and money more into skincare to try and fix it. The journey is long and hard but it's less stressful (mentally) knowing that at least I'm doing my best & not just trying to cover the problem rather than solving it
Also not meaning to sound rude but cakey makeup NEVER covers the imperfections, maybe in photos or when you look from great distance, otherwise it only draws attention to whatever you have going on and it makes it look 10 times worse. Flawless skin or acne, both ways try not to overdo it ❤ I feel like it's always obvious to everyone else just not the person wearing the makeup
@@Elyssiasenvy Trust there is a way to cover acne and not look extremely cakey/ textured in the process. I’ve had ginormous cysts in my early teens, and one thing is hydration is key. I remember vividly the despair of getting a giant cyst on my cheek right before picture day 😫But there’s plenty of people online to show you how to do it so it looks as natural as possible without the pimple showing through and lasting all day.
@sara T. don't forget she used skin blurring filter. At 2:13 , you can see the knuckle of her fingers are blurred, but there is glitch in the middle of her forehead. You can see the shiny part has small little bumps
tip: if u are using a water based primer or cream, use water based concealer and foundation cause if ur using oil and water based products together, they will separate just like how water and oil separate but on your skin (nvm i watched the rest of the vid and she alr mentioned this)
@@Thisiszaizai this is slightly incorrect as most foundations regardless whether water-based or silicone-based will usually have water as the first ingredient. the best way is to check the next few ingredients! anything ending in -xane or -cone will be silicone based! if you do not see it, then it's water based :)

cera ve hydrating cleanser, coconut water gel moisturizer, missha spf sun milk, elf grip primer, l’oréal true match foundation, nyx concealer serum, LA girl concealer for bronzing, nyx can’t stop won’t stop pressed powder
the primer + foundation - this is so important! I had to give up on the Milk/Elf primers since most of my foundations are silicone based and they would always lift. The only water based foundations I can use w/them: MAC/Dior F&B. Kosas Revealer is supposed to be water-based but haven't tried them together.
Can i just say thank you for sharing the knowledge and all the good content ❤ Your videos have always been the most helpful to me. Since forever and through every makeup trend and skin condition I'm going through! Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I needed this. I almost gave up using foundation cause I kept peeling and it was so frustrating. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I’m going to try again.
Oh my gosh I’ve been wondering why my skin care routine has been leading to my skin peeling. Thank you so much for clarifying that. I didn’t realize it was because I was rubbing it!!
For everyone saying she doesn’t need make up… please just stop… you don’t need that coffee every day and yet you still buy one each morning… she wants to wear makeup.. let her. Just cus she’s blessed doesn’t mean she can’t wear whatever she wants.. aside from the fact that she’s teaching you how to do makeup.. how is she supposed to do it without demonstrating.. be kind
thanks for sharing these tips on how to avoid cakey makeup, this is a beauty game-changer! It brings to mind the invaluable lessons I gained from my lifecoach, Lisa Haisha, during a retreat in the Philippines. Your practical advice and her transformative wisdom are both guiding lights on the path to a flawless and authentic beauty routine.
I use makeup fixer after applying skincare and then I do makeup over it, once Im done w make up I redo makeup fixer which gives flawless makeup. Try this hack.. doing make up fixer on skincare fixes pores and doesn't let skin gets damaged by makeup also gives flawless makeup..
I avoid cakey makeup by simply not wearing foundation. My skin is the same as yours. Really all I need is concealer under my eyes. Why wear foundation when we don’t need it?
Exactly my feeling! At 44 I've given up wearing anything heavy. I still always properly skin prep but if I tried to use a foundation above sheer/light coverage which I can barely get by either, it ends up looking cakey yup, EVEN light coverage. So lately I've been more of a if needs must and only where the needs must, redness and dark circles but I've come to really hate makeup when I was once addicted ! I'm more into skincare now.
Thank you gorgeous! Truly appreciate this video, so much more than just a regular make-up tutorial! I definitely held my breath when you mentioned the oil-based and water-based sparring issue, luckily the primer I ordered is water-based as well as my foundation
yes, Tatcha dewy skin cream is worth the splurge ⭐️ it’s so good! I’m about to pull that La Roche Posay cleanser and sunscreen out my stash, because you make them both look so dreamy on the skin ☁️
That pic you have in the video cover image isn't caked skin - that's foundation that has separated on the skin due to lack of moisture and exfoliation. It's always skin care that is the culprit or product interaction
I wish I knew all this in middle school cuz BOY did I go thru every bad makeup mistake😭 from cakey to patchy, to oily to dryness, or over-using the contour, now I’m out of highschool and I have learned that the less = the better and I definitely agree with this entire makeup/prep video. I never hydrated my skin or used primer before, but now I know that it all depended on the ingredients😁👍🏻 I have had horrible acne basically my whole life, like severe, but it was mostly from genetics so there wasn’t anything to stop it, I’ve tried it all, but once I hit 18-19 it started going away on its own, so if anyone is reading this, just know it’s not so bad when ur in ur 20’s it’s just puberty. Can’t really do anything about it but makeup did help with the insecurities, I just wish I knew my mistakes on makeup sooner😅
to all the sensitive skin girls or eczema i would recommend definitely not getting the tatcha creams because they have fragrance in them and can be very irritating and burning on the face!!!
It might sound crazy but I’ve always used setting powder and used blush afterwards and it worked. Then I found out that you’re supposed to do it the other way around but my face starts burning sometimes like that, especially in the areas my glasses come in contact with my skin.
She has good skin because she really takes care of her skin faithfully. I’m telling y’all, if you can completely stay clear of make up until you get your skin to where you’re happy, when you do apply make up if will look like this. Discoloration & pimples are natural everyone has them, I would not put any make up on top of a break out. Also don’t stop your acne products even when they’re gone prevention is best.
Hi what type of skin do u have? I have mixed skin and a bit dehydrated. I also can’t use any products with artificial perfumes in it. I believe every skin is different and every product can go with different skin types. Another question is when u say prep the skin is it applying skin care products right before applying foundation concealer etc? Or u mean having a daily skin care routine?
FYI, don't use vaseline on your face (and avoid products with vaseline in them). It might look smooth and clear for a moment, but it clogs up your pores! (coming from a cosmetologist)
You have such beautiful skin, and I love your videos. What skin products do you use? Any suggestions on a good foundation with decent coverage? I am 46 and my skin has changed so much. I haven't found a foundation that works for me.
I actually liked your skin naturally over wearing this makeup even though both look good I honestly thought you were wearing makeup earlier in the video 😂
I love this routine ❤ when you use this method to prep skin with the Paula’s Choice exfoliation, do you use it in the same skincare that you have in the AM or PM? or when do you do this routine and use that product?
