@RobertWelsh thanks for taking the time. I followed u because we're using the same shade. Thankful that I found your channel as I prefer professional MUA coz you know what you're talking about. I love your recommendation on unleashia foundation! Ecstatic when this video came out coz I can explore more cushion foundation based on your recommendation
It made her look ignorant and out of touch, @@RobertWelsh. (And I'm old like she is -- so if I thought she seemed out of touch, I can imagine how it felt to younger people.)
To anyone hesitant to purchase the Tir Tir cushion out of fear of getting the wrong shade: they sell a sample kit that’s only a dollar. Worth the purchase to ensure you get the full product in your shade.
@@Notyourwifesotalktomenice83 YesStyle sells a sample kit of shades. If you know you foundation match in a different brand, there is also a site called findation that will match your shade to other brands based on the brand and shade you enter
We live in an age where it's now relatively easy to find out how to use a product correctly before buying it and trying it. Give the product a fighting chance because it could become a go to in future.
What fascinates me is that these bloggers have the ability to easily find out how to use these products, play with them and figure them out before they film. Instead they just don’t bother doing any work and just film without any understanding of the product. For me, that’s not doing your job and people are wasting their time watching your channel.
Yes!!!! I think this all the time! Quite frankly, if I want a review, I want it to be more than a first impression from someone who has taken pains not to learn how to use it correctly. It really bugs me when people do this. If they want to do a first impression, fine, but then do some kind of a follow-up because otherwise it just feels so half-hearted and lazy.
Utterly agree! It’s not that hard to figure out how to use something! We do! Sometimes you get it wrong the first couple times. Sometimes you don’t. They are so quick to say something sucks, which is so unfair to the brands. And their followers. Put in the work or don’t do it.
There’s so much bilingual content these days as well as English speaking Korean and expat creators who were on stuff way before it became viral. I think people take information access for granted. Like, I’m from back in the day when part of my motivation for learning Korean was understanding Naver blog reviews for makeup products. 😅 I’m still very lucky to be able to read and watch reviews of products that aren’t trending over here yet, but my language skills even have suffered a lot now that English subtitles are more and more readily available in most videos.
I think this is just the trend of “genuine first impression”, so some people just try to look honest and clumpy by doing everything on camera to get more sympathie I guess…
There’s this popular channel & she literally is sponsored by the brand but she called tir tir a Korean brand, I mean if I was sponsored I’d do a bit of basic research bruh & she was tapping the product so much. I just couldn’t continue watching it. It felt so annoying
This is my first comment on youtube and I've been on youtube since it first started lol. I'm Korean and use a lot of cushions. I am amazed with the detail of your application (lots of kbeauty youtubers teach these tips when applying cushions). Wiping the excess off on the lid before applying is a helpful tip. You get light coverage thats buildable in layers... I would recommend working in layers only on sections where you really need it. For example, light layer full face, then go back and cover eye or pore area. You can even use a lighter shade to highlight sections. (I have two shades, one summer and one winter). I know cushions are not for everyone, but I really appreciate the time you took to really experiment with korean products and share how it works best for you! Subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your refreshingly kind videos ❤
I didn’t think watching people put cushion foundations on would be so triggering. 😭 thank you for showing the correct way to use it! I’m half Korean so I’ve been aware of it for quite some time and nothing gets under my skin more than people trashing a product when they use it incorrectly.
I'm not Korean, I've never ever used a cushion foundation, and even I know how to use them correctly thanks to how many people use them these days and that multiple korean channels do makeup videos in English or have English subtitles
I'm half Korean, and can't get them to work for me so far, but that's down to user error/I need one with less coverage/maybe they're not meant for me. Doesn't mean it's bad, or a reason to trash them, ne?
People praised idols makeup and don't even know most of them use cushions. The only bad thing with most Korean brands is that it's catered to their pale skin population or those who want a lighter face. Their cushions are great and they have many dewy formulas.
Yea absolutely! Even in the time frame I’ve been using them, I have noticed a lot of brands are releasing darker shades .. I used to struggle to find even my shade!
I am heartened to hear about shade expansions, but pretending South Korea does not have a colorism issue isn’t cool. Rural South Koreans (not talking about migrant workers, just people of Korean ethnicity) who spend more time outside often have skin tones not represented by standard makeup. And not all East Asians have the same undertones, even people who have 100% Korean DNA do not all have identical skin, so let’s not pretend the issue is entirely demographic. The money and power in the world are moving to Asia, it’s important to hold the wealthiest Asian countries to certain global standards. Everyone knows they are supposed to become less racist now, so let’s hold all the wealthy nations accountable. We don’t want a repeat of the colonial English countries as asshattery .
@montananerd8244 Completely agree with you! Just wanna add that not only rural Koreans or those who spend more time outside tend to be more tan. Some Korean people don't believe my fully Korean husband is fully Korean because of his tan skin. Many Korean women with skintones darker than 23/25 often look to Western brands at department stores for more accurate colors. But that brings in another layer of classism because department stores carry luxury! To use your words, nobody wants the asshattery in 2024!
@Swantron4335 This. My Mother is a dark Olive Korean, and doesn't play nice when pale Koreans try to give her stick about complexion. I'm not as dark as she is, but it's been harder to find my shades since Shiseido scrapped their old shade range that I used for three decades. A few Chinese brands make darker shades that work, but that has its own set of issues.
For someone who's very unfamiliar with make up: this is definitely informative. He gatekeeps nothing and didn't assume everyone knows everything you know. Like when he began to show us how to use the cushion, he saud he prepped his skin like usual and i thought immediately 'well crap, what if my normal prep (or whatever its called because i only use toner and sunscreen whenever go outside) isnt enough/ lacking" but he showed us what he uses to prep his skin. Honestly many kudos to you Robert ❤
Why is bethany frankel reviewing makeup?! 😂😂😂 the girl doesnt even do her own makeup she has a makeup artist😂 like what?? Shes never been into makeup from what i saw. Im so confused
@@RobertWelsh that's so random🤣🤣🤣 the last person I was expecting to see, was Bethany. She can review her skinny drinks, but I won't be paying any attention to what she says about makeup🤣🤷♀️ I don't ever pay attention to someone's review if it's just "this is shit! Nobody buy it!". That's not helpful to anyone. Why is it shit? Who is it shit for? Maybe what she thinks is shit, is my goal, ya know? There's something for everyone, so I just don't put any weight on reviews that don't explain why they like/dislike it.
@@beth7343 to be fair, I could be spelling it wrong 🤣 I don't follow her, I just used to watch real housewives so I know her name, but I never see it. So I could be the one butchering it
Ive been using cushion foundation for 5 years im over 40 and think they are fantastic for mature skin. Bethany Frankle should stick to her skinny girl drink mixers because she definitely knows her way around a margarita.
This reminds me of when silicone blending "sponges" came out and the whole point was to extend use of your foundation, since none of it would get sucked into the applicator, but people who were used to brushes and sponges WAY over-applying their products or spreading it around in swipes and streaks, but then blaming the blender for not doing a good job. I haven't seen them much in stores anymore, but I remember getting one and really liking it.
+1!!! I've been using silicone sponges for YEARS now. Love it for doing my office makeup on the go. And people compliment my makeup all the time, because it doesn't look cakey. Truly a little goes a long way with silicone sponges. I only use brushes for special occasions now since it's a hassle to clean them regularly. 😩
I have dry skin so the silicone sponges worked pretty fantastic for me. I can see how people with too oily skin really don't benefit from not keeping more of the liquid part of the product on the skin?
I'm kinda old (58) but I love makeup and I've learned that as I age, less is more. Honestly, you are my favorite makeup expert on TH-cam because your are so real and down to earth. Sometimes I will click just because I know it's a guaranteed fact that you will giggle throughout and it just makes me smile.😊
it seems like ppl are sooo heavy handed. i have the tir tir n love it but saw that a lil went a long way, so i had no problem. you are a perfect teacher for my learning style. thnx
It’s like that jelly lip thing that everyone was pushing up too far, breaking it, and then reviewing it badly. Sometimes you need to just be gentle with things!
I love this type of video, especially from someone who’s opinion I actually trust! I’d love a series of “it’s not s***, you’re probably just using it wrong!” but I know you can’t even breathe without someone being offended and kicking off these days! Thank you Robert, for being a sane and sensible makeup voice!
Daimaru or Mitsukoshi department stores have koh gen do, might have MAC too. My sister and I often go there and Donki to stock up on stuff when we have long layovers in Japan.
Just because the cushion has SPF, it doesn't mean that you don't have to use sunscreen. You still have to use protection under the make up. The amount we use on the face is not enough to give good protection from the sun.
I am SO glad this video is one of the first that I saw when I was thinking about buying the TirTir foundation; the first was when I saw MissDarcei’s video and saw that match! As a Black woman of a certain age, there was no Fenty back in the day. That being said, I had NO idea how to apply a cushion foundation. There are still makeup artists and “influencers” who are using this foundation completely wrong- up to and including not even using the applicator **designed to be used with the makeup**- and are confused why it looks the way it does. It’s like trying to boil a hard-boiled egg in a skillet and being shocked that it didn’t work. The fact that you said you’ve been using cushion foundations for years is what made me buy my first (and most likely only cushion foundation due to skin tone match) cushion foundation. It’s also why I subscribed to your and your twin brother’s channel!
I'm a makeup doofus, and I love cushion foundations! I didn't realize how people could struggle so much! Goes to show that short form content misses some important details sometimes.
Missha is one of the OG cushions! Also very affordable. Asian makeup I think is not suppose to be caked on because we like the more natural look on the skin especially with foundations.
BF should reconsider videos like that one. I am her age (a couple of years older, actually) and I thought the way she spoke about the cushion foundations just made her sound old and out of touch. She's all about her branding, and nothing will make her irrelevant faster.
@AliceHunter-0827 I agree. I'm 58 and find her just an attention monger. Maybe she thrives on media exposure and since she's not on Real Housewives, this is her new forum.
BF forgets that she's only famous due to someone else pulling out of a tv show! ( Bethany Getting Married - it was called something else to begin with). I cannot STAND the woman!
Is she one of the Real Housewives of Somewhere or Other too, @@samanthafairweather9186 ? To me, she's just one of those people that everyone else knew one day, and I was left there scratching my head.
Thank you for saying that if something doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it’s crap. So many things that people have said are crap are my holy grails lol. I like people that review makeup and comment on how it works for them and say what kind of skin they have what their struggles are stuff like that because I have discovered a lot of products through skin twins.
Tati did a review of this cushion foundation about a week ago. She tried it for a month. Loved it! She said it was one of the best cushion foundations. Then TikTok came out about this foundation, and no one knew how to wear it. Ugh.
Even Robert didn't tap the inner lid. Only if you put too much on. Watch the video and pay attention before you criticize. They both enjoyed the product. They weren't giving it a bad review bc of misuse.
@@darkangel4185 imagine the assumptions here. Imagine speaking to anyone like this in person. 🤢Imagine liking this response. I’m a pro and I lived in Asia. My comment remains.
@jessabeauty917 I stand by what I said. I would address you the same if you were in front of me. I really don't care if you are a "pro". I'm stating the facts.
I’m sorry but I thought cushion foundations are the easiest, most fool proof products there are- cushion makeup in general. I didn’t realize how many people aren’t aware of how to even apply these because it is so self explanatory, but I’m so happy you did show people because I absolutely love love cushion foundations. Seeing brands expand the shades makes me giddy.
I still use the Missha BB cream everyday and it wears amazing and looks great on mature skin. My fav part is I don’t have to set with powder and it has great longevity! Love their cushion foundation too. I bought the TirTir cushion foundation and can’t wait to try it out
Ok so this is really random but I remember you saying in a video that you used to work at a a strip club... I would be really interested in seeing how you'd do the make up for the dancers. Like it was in (I would assume) dim lighting and just different conditions. I'd just like to see you explain the difference between like "everyday" makeup and the dancers makeup and what you'd use and stuff like that
I did! 😂! It wasn’t crazy different to “going out makeup” at the time to be honest! It was 2013, so it was very much the style of black and silver smokey eye and a red lip!
Wet n wild had a cushion foundation many many years ago it was so beautiful like flawless I’ve been searching for something similar for almost ten years
Omg it was my favorite ! I remember thinking I found my forever foundation until it got discontinued . 2 yrs ago I bought an expired one but it didn’t work the same 😢 they should bring it back
loved hearing you correct the uninformed loudmouths on the internet but also praise the cushion foundations from korea. as a long time k-beauty consumer i cannot find anything better than foundations or lip products from Rom&nd, 3CE, Missha etc etc that i buy since i started listening to Kpop over a decade ago (and not to talk about the obviously amazing skin care products they have over there.) Thanks for educating us all again Robert✨👏
I am the same way! I got into K-beauty after getting into kpop in 2012 and basically haven't looked back! Most of my products now are K-beauty because I find the formulas to be unmatched! I am glad Robert has been able to educate people about these products and how to use them!
Coming back for a tutorial after finally getting my hands on the Tirtir Mask Fit Cushion. So far, so good. I'm not sure if I like the finish better than my HG BareMinerals powder foundation, but it being smudge-proof is a huge plus.
Yes I am with you. Clinique brought back a version of it in 2017-2018 called Clinique Super City Block BB Cushion Compact but only kept it in US Market for less than a year or two. It also had deep shades and I hope it comes back. I had no idea it had early beginnings back then, though, thanks for sharing.
@@judymcdougallit's so crazy you mention this.. I'm an always late to party kinda gal lol, "stuck in my ways".. and I've been finally tapping into the liquid and cream blushers recently. Just last night I had been thinking to myself that my little ol cover girl blusher bricks that I've been using since I believe the 90's, will always just be my favorite. Among a little handful of other old gems. That aren't discontinued 😭.
I love hownyour passion and enthusiasm shines through when you have teaching moments! its so cool to see someone wanting to share their experience and not gatekeep
I bought the Tir Tir foundation after watching you use it and thankfully I saw how you applied it. It is amazing. I keep it light and love it so much, I’m also 47 and it still looks fab, plus a lovely personalised card. I gave them a glowing review with a nod to your fine self for introducing me to it. Just amazing. ❤
I'm glad there's a video like this out there and not just those influencers piling stuff onto their faces and expecting them to magically blend themselves out.
I was about to scream when she was gliding the foundation 😫 also the first woman shitting on the CLIO kill cover? That’s the best foundation I’ve ever used
Funny enough you and Tati Westbrook are the two people that convinced me to buy this comaoct because i was afraid it wasnt going to work for me or that i would hate it. I've had it for about a week now and i love it. It's so easy to apply and if you do it RIGHT it looks amazing. I do notice a small amount of dryness in certain areas but that could be my skin and/or maybe disnt use the correct setting powder for this foundation I live in a sub-tropical climate. This so far has had the best lasting power for me (i bike ten minutes one way to get to work everyday) so I'm quite happy with it.
@@RobertWelsh the morning ride isn't usually too bad since it'll be warm but still the sun isn't at its peak or setting so I usually do ok. Ride home tho is a bit more rough on it. Still if I were to go home and use power to reset the makeup it would continue to last. It WILL start to slide if I touch it when I get home (I'm taking it off anyway at that point so I don't care) but if I had to go back out, I could just repowder and be good. I will say, do not use the ELF power grip primer with this, I did one day and when I came home, the bike ride had caused it all to separate. I use the ELF poreless putty primer and that works really well. I have another of the ELF primers (comes in the blue pump bottle, I forget what it's called) and I haven't tried it with that yet but I will at some point. The putty primer works well so I don't have much reason to change it up lol
Very helpful! I randomly tried some cushion foundations years ago and found them too dewy for my oily skin so having your notes on skin type for the different brands is great!
Okay Robert. I've never seen blue eyeshadow look so beautiful before. I would love an old school makeup tutorial on this look! I miss the old makeup tutorial formatted videos, and I know youtube has evolved and trends change...but as a girlie who worked at sephora in 2014 those types of videos will remain in my heart forever.
This was a fantastic demonstration! Ex mua from many moons ago. Recently purchased TirTir & new it was full coverage so went in lightly. I see a lot of reviewers just use too much of any product right off the bat instead of slowly building. Great advice. 🇦🇺❤️
I use Koh Gen Do cushion foundation I bought in Japan. Changed my life! I don't use primer or powder anymore, and it looks better on my textured skin than the dozens of foundations, bb creams, concealers, etc I tried from sephora. It's much more expensive in the US, but worth it.
@MadameChouette800 Yes! As long as you don't put a ton on, and don't put any setting powders over it. I had peeling skin from a VI peel, and nobody could tell. Outside of that, I have deep pores, scarring, and dry patchy skin. Also, keep in mind that it usually looks better the longer you keep it on. It kind of "melts" into the features of the face, so it doesn't look like you just painted over your skin with something.
@jujutrini8412 Sometimes, but less than other products I've tried. Usually if it's hot hotside and/or I've been doing a lot of physical activity. If there is excess in any creases, I will wipe it away with my finger, and it usually won't build up again.
I use the regular Koh Gen Do foundations and I just think they make the best complexion products. Their aqua foundation is my holy grail and it at least has a range of shades despite not having many.
I remember in the late 70s & early 80s using Elizabeth Arden foundations that came with a sponge/cushion were a revelation. Aside from a brush, I've used nothing since for applying foundation. These days I experiment with brands but always use a sponge, which I've found does less long term damage to skin - younger people take note.
Red Door cream to powder foundation. My grandmother asked her US based relatives to smuggle some for her back to the Philippines and those weren't cheap as my aunties told me.😅
I bought this and was skeptical but I enjoy it. I use it very sparingly cause the coverage is pretty intense. Thanks for the tutorial. I am 58 and have a good skin routine but still drier skin and it works for me.
I would absolutely love to see your cushion foundation reviews,so we know what to buy. Especially us older gals who need full coverage. Thank you so much 😊
@@donotreply8979 they don't though. Some moisturizers, primers, powders and even sprays are capable of altering foundation formula, that might have broken down the antioxidant in the formula
I’m glad more creators are showing the right way to use these products. A little goes a long way. Don’t give up on these cushions. Some are amazing! I do have to mix two shades to get my color match and sometimes will color correct first before applying as my undertones may sometimes not be the best.
As always, your tutorial on using cushion foundation is very clear, i.e., the hand placement, how much pressure to use, etc. Your experience as a professional MUA comes through. This is why your content is very helpful to me.
Omg Robert! I still use the Missha BB cream. It’s my ride or die. For mature skin ladies, it is everything and the tone is perfection. No orange or yellow in sight ♥️♥️
Korean sun cushions are a game changer! I get the shade concerns of some people, because I actually returned the first Tirtir compact I bought due to wrong shade (21N-too light) and oxidation. But I did find the exact shade for me and I’ve been super happy with it. Figure out your skin tone (neutral, warm, cool) and it should help. Tried Jang Saem Mool as well, and while I like that too, I just prefer the Tirtir more because it lasts all day. The key I think, is having a good base before application. And like you said, toner helps a lot. Tirtir Milk toner is a holy grail for me. The regular one at night, the light version in the morning. Although my first toner is always Pyunkang Yul, then Tirtir milk toner, Vit C, then Round Lab sunscreen, then the cushion foundation. Yeah I still use regular sunscreen under it, just for good measure. Great video! Just subscribed. ❤
Thanks Robert for your awesome tips and reviews. Your energy and the choice of words you chose to speak about these products is giving Class and Royalty 🤴 which I love it! We need more people like you! Theres a lot of products that don’t amaze me either and I sometimes feel like it’s over hyped but there’s no need to call it BS or 💩.
Excited to see this! I just found out that L'oreal stopped making their mineral powder foundation and I am desperate to find a new type of foundation before I can't get it anymore. Liquid ones just do NOT sit on my skin, no matter what I do 😭😭😭
I never used Beautyblender, sponge, or cushion because I`m a brush lover. Thank you for your excellent lesson. You are an outstanding artist, and I never regretted that I discovered your channel 5-6 yrs ago. Wish you health💜
My daughter introduced me to you and your brother's channel. I really enjoy watching you and the tips and tricks you give to all of us is so helpful. I am in my 60's and I will scroll through your videos looking for one that talks about make-up for mature skin. Thank you so much for all you do. Have a good day.
Excellent information as always Robert. I'm learning how to utilize the cushion foundation as well as powdered foundation. Foundations in general are complex. getting the color correct, texture, smell, wearability. The list is long and valid. Thank you for making it easier.
I have a couple of Missha ones and they're so lovely. I lucked into the peeeeeeeeeerfect shade and I can use it for light or full coverage. I also love being able to touch up my makeup after I've left the house (in case I've god forbid - blown my nose!) Start light, tappy tappy tap! I also don't use contour or bronzer so there's hardly anything to go on top of it, just blush really
This is such a great video because it explains cushion foundations so respectfully and in such a knowledgeable way, thank you! I hate when influencers talk about Korean makeup and skincare without any deeper knowledge and just kind of end up making fun of it or exoticising it for shock value, misusing the products and then blaming all of K-beauty.
I was excited to try the TirTir foundation and it matched my skin perfectly (which nothing does). I have used it with every primer I have and even no primer. I’ve used it the way Robert says and also with a brush etc. It feels terrible on my skin no matter what I did. I’m sad because that color was perfect 😢 I hope I can figure it out. Learning curve for sure but will keep trying! ❤
Americans love to pile on layers and layers of makeup and I am very simplistic with huge pores and a love of natural beauty, which is why I’ve identified with non-transformative East Asian makeup styles ever since I came of age (old enough to wear makeup per parents rules). Even if you get American products that mimic Korean products, from skincare to makeup I find they are just much too intense or harsh on my skin. I remember being so intensely aggravated by the new word “selfie” when I had been familiar with “selca” for like a decade before; the English phrase sounding like some massage wand me time stuff 🤣 while 셀카 (selca) was literally “self camera” and made logical sense to me. Now I’m in my 30s and I stay off social media except TH-cam; this is the only makeup channel I ever watch haha. It’s nice of you to teach people who I would’ve probably cringed at had I had social media. I was lucky in that I studied Korean in my teens then took classes in uni so I viewed Korean reviews and tutorial on Naver and stuff long before they ever entered the Western market. It’s not lost on me the privilege I have as someone already familiar with Korean products, so I’m forgiving unless people are clearly being racist/xenophobic behind their reviews.
Like how you mentioned which cushion foundation is best for. Also really like how you took the time to explain what you should and should not do when using these foundations. 👍
I have the clio kill cover cushion that Bethany was holding in her video lol I love it! I barely touch the cushion and that is enough for this one! It’s long lasting, doesn’t irritate my skin, and has a really nice light to medium buildable coverage. It also comes with a refill! My girl at the Korean & Japanese beauty store I go to told me to buy it and she was so right! My entire skin care routine is products she has told me would be good for my skin and literally everything is AMAZING, my skin has never looked better
Thank you for talking through this. A lot of people in the comments are talking about how long cushions have been out and how everyone should just know how to use them, but there's a first time for everyone. In my case, I've never used one before. Why? Because there weren't a lot of them available in my shade.
OMG, I’m 49, my skin has a lot of texture, patchy pigmentation, acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and I’m really oily in some areas. I bought the TirTir foundation after watching this video and it’s amazing! It doesn’t settle into pores or lines, looks natural, and stays put! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It made me so mad the first time I watched Bethany’s video when she said they dry out easily when she never even closed the inside lid. Like yeah it’s gonna dry out, you never closed it
Thank you so much for this video. I can definitely see how people are pressing too hard and are getting way you much product! A light press and a light pat will make for a beautiful application. I now can’t wait to try it!
To Bethany - cushion foundations are not BS - you just dont know how to use it - Asians have been doing this tapping technique for years - used to see my mum doing it growing up and she still does in her 50’s - even to this day Asians still use cushions rather than brushes or sponges
Yesssss! I love Missha everything and it works amazing on my 50 year old skin. TirTir is formulated slightly different to me, but still ok. Korean skincare also just plays well with any of my makeup choices. I’ve used it for a long time.
Cushion foundation is the best invention ever. Since I discovered it, cannot use any other type, cause cushions make my skin so so beautiful as natural pretty! Its amazing
The powder really perfected it at the end. I’ve never used a foundation before and I’m 20, I’ll be referencing this video when I use my TirTir tomorrow morning. Thank you.
While pressing and tapping is the way, don’t forget to put primer on before and also if you are spot setting to make parts matte dont forget to pat on top of your foundation as well with the setting powder of your choice. ❤

Thank you Robert, what a great and informative video. I am 60 years old and over the past 9 years I have lost 240lbs. Being 60, my skin is not as 'giving' as it used to be. One of the comments I get after, OMG you are so skinny and how did you do it, is, your skin is so beautiful, how do you not have that saggy weight loss face? Simple- Korean beauty products. I have used Korean products for over 12 years now. I used to use a powder foundation that I loved but they stopped making it. For quite some time now I have been trying to find a good foundation that works well on 'mature' skin. I was not succeeding. I ordered TirTir (I wear 17C) because everyone was loving the cushion foundation and love it, even when I was using it wrong! After watching your video, I went back and used it "properly" and WOW, I love it even MORE! Thank you again for the great video, I am going to go look thru your videos, looking for suggestions on how to cover up those under eye dark bags!!!!

I’ve been walking on my treadmill daily at a slight incline, like a slow speed walk pase and I do that for 45 mins while I watch a vlog on TH-cam or something, that’s on top of my dog walks that are about an hour. I also have a walking pad and I will do some extra steps if I feel like it but I don’t force myself to do that that’s just extra if I’m feeling extra that day. My diet was shit before so I just have a protein shake for breakfast because I really like them 😂 then lunch I will have something small with no carbs and dinner I have whatever I want that’s healthy in a sensible portion. I eat as much vegetables and fruit thought out the day as I want, and if I feel hungry after dinner I have a tea like a green tea or peppermint tea. My issue was always evening snaking. I could go the whole day without eating but in the evening in front of the tv…. I could eat two days worth of food 😂

Thank you for speaking on this. Seen too many reviews of the tir tir and people just slopping it on, too much product on the sponge. Hate when influencers slop the makeup on, it’s so painful to watch
Thank you for helping us filter through all the misinformation on how best to use cushion foundation. I love this method of application and your content has helped many of us capture the full value of these great products.
I bought Missha cushion several years ago…. Pretty sure the directions on how to use it came with it bc I used it correctly, and at that time didn’t even know how to use a beauty blender. Def appreciate this breakdown of which areas to apply to first though, Robert! Super helpful ❤️
For people asking, the shade I use in the Romand cushion is 25 sand xx
Perfect timing!
I'm sorry if you have mentioned it before, how about other foundations? What shade you're using?

saying a type of product that people use everyday in other countries is “bullshit” is crazy 😭

It makes complete and total sense when you consider it came from an American. World revolves around ‘Murica right? 😅
Little bit of white privilege there.
it's bordering on confidently ignorant and racist for me! So disrespectful
To anyone hesitant to purchase the Tir Tir cushion out of fear of getting the wrong shade: they sell a sample kit that’s only a dollar. Worth the purchase to ensure you get the full product in your shade.
Oooh where do they sell it??

@@Notyourwifesotalktomenice83 YesStyle sells a sample kit of shades. If you know you foundation match in a different brand, there is also a site called findation that will match your shade to other brands based on the brand and shade you enter
People using foundation wrong is literally one of my biggest pet peeves. Especially when they claim the makeup is bad when really…they're the problem.
Exactly! It’s fine to not like something but to say it’s awful and a scam just because you don’t like it is a weird view to have! 😂
We live in an age where it's now relatively easy to find out how to use a product correctly before buying it and trying it. Give the product a fighting chance because it could become a go to in future.
Omg same! you use the product wrong and it’s the products fault? 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Me too!!
My mom has a phrase for this: "user error" 😂
I LOVE that tirtir listened/called Darcei !! Darcei is such a sweet funny down to earth girl and totally deserves all her success

Amazing tips, thank you ❤
MUA here and I really appreciate ur comment. 🙂
@@DinkyInky2 hey , your busy living your best life don't bother lol😂 good for you....sooo sweet
so agree with you, I watched so many youtubes and just cringe every single time I see an angloxason apply a cushion foundation and just go noooooooo
Cushion foundations have been around in Korea for YEARS and to hear Bethany call it a scam is beyond obnoxious. TY for this video!
Tirtir listened and extended their range miss Darci has been talking with them and she has almost got her shade

@@RobertWelsh that's so random🤣🤣🤣 the last person I was expecting to see, was Bethany. That's not helpful to anyone. Why is it shit? Who is it shit for? Maybe what she thinks is shit, is my goal, ya know? This reminds me of when silicone blending "sponges" came out and the whole point was to extend use of your foundation, since none of it would get sucked into the applicator, but people who were used to brushes and sponges WAY over-applying their products or spreading it around in swipes and streaks, but then blaming the blender for not doing a good job. I haven't seen them much in stores anymore, but I remember getting one and really liking it.
Robert tried using one. It didn't go well.

Oh is that how they were supposed to work 😂
I use silicone detail sponges quite often
I have dry skin so the silicone sponges worked pretty fantastic for me. I can see how people with too oily skin really don't benefit from not keeping more of the liquid part of the product on the skin?
I'm kinda old (58) but I love makeup and I've learned that as I age, less is more. Honestly, you are my favorite makeup expert on TH-cam because your are so real and down to earth. It’s like that jelly lip thing that everyone was pushing up too far, breaking it, and then reviewing it badly. Sometimes you need to just be gentle with things!
LOTS of people are heavy handed unfortunately and have yet to realize they’re the problem, not the product.

You can buy all of that in Don Quijote, btw! Koh Gen Do miiight not be in some, and he'll have to check a makeup store in the mall.

@@sam0318 Oh thanks so much!🩷
Just because the cushion has SPF, it doesn't mean that you don't have to use sunscreen.

Personally, I cannot stomach Betheny and her ridiculous, uninformed videos just for exposure.
Bethenny F would probably due tik tok reviews of motor oil if she thought she could make a buck out of it.

Tati did a review of this cushion foundation about a week ago. She tried it for a month. Loved it! She said it was one of the best cushion foundations. Then TikTok came out about this foundation, and no one knew how to wear it. Ugh.
She didn’t use it right-you’re supposed to tap it on the inside cover before going to the face. Even with a bit of misuse she seemed to like it.
Even Robert didn't tap the inner lid. Only if you put too much on. Watch the video and pay attention before you criticize. They both enjoyed the product. They weren't giving it a bad review bc of misuse.

I live in a sub-tropical climate. This so far has had the best lasting power for me (i bike ten minutes one way to get to work everyday) so I'm quite happy with it.
Oh way for it to last through a bike journey in that weather is amazing!
Wait it's good on textured skin? I have keratosis pilaris and i struggle to find a good foundation.
@@porygon777 What about wrinkles? Does it sink into and emphasise wrinkles.

Yessssss!!!!
I love it too. Robert turned me onto it.
They are all going full Meredith Duxbury with this one 😂
😂
Thanks Robert for your awesome tips and reviews. Your energy and the choice of words you chose to speak about these products is giving Class and Royalty 🤴 which I love it! We need more people like you! Theres a lot of products that don’t amaze me either and I sometimes feel like it’s over hyped but there’s no need to call it BS or 💩.
Excited to see this! I just found out that L'oreal stopped making their mineral powder foundation and I am desperate to find a new type of foundation before I can't get it anymore. Liquid ones just do NOT sit on my skin, no matter what I do 😭😭😭
If you decide to stick with powder, you might want to try Jane Iredale's mineral powder foundation. It comes loose or pressed.
If you're in EU, maybe you could try Neve Cosmetics mineral foundation, it looks quite natural and lasts a decent amount of time on my skin.
Fenty have a full coverage powder foundation in a compact!
Oh I didn't even realize your bangs were up until you mentioned it! 😅😅😅😅
2:43 That sly shade omg lmao. Felt that chill breeze all the way in Cali. 😂
Thank you for talking through this. A lot of people in the comments are talking about how long cushions have been out and how everyone should just know how to use them, but there's a first time for everyone. In my case, I've never used one before. Why? Because there weren't a lot of them available in my shade.
I had no idea so many people would struggle with how to use a cushion foundation 😭😭
No seriously. It's not that hard and cushion foundations have just been there for years so these kind of videos confuse me
OMG, I’m 49, my skin has a lot of texture, patchy pigmentation, acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and I’m really oily in some areas.
"Tested, tried, and praised..." and award winning too. I adore Missha. Everything from Missha is excellent. Well done, Robert. Education is necessary.
and japanese, too. so good. i used every one of the skin79 bb creams... and i loved them all
Skin79 is also Korean. But I agree, Japanese brands are good too!
Oh honey.. thats also a korean brand
Yesssss! I love Missha everything and it works amazing on my 50 year old skin. TirTir is formulated slightly different to me, but still ok. Korean skincare also just plays well with any of my makeup choices. I’ve used it for a long time.
Your eye makeup is gorgeous Robert💜
And your voice sounds so good, i love your videos so much.
Thank you! 🖤
Cushion foundation is the best invention ever. Since I discovered it, cannot use any other type, cause cushions make my skin so so beautiful as natural pretty! Its amazing
Oohhh I’ve never been here this early! I’m excited 💜🖤🩶💜🖤🩶
Thank you for being early 🖤🖤🖤
The powder really perfected it at the end. I’ve never used a foundation before and I’m 20, I’ll be referencing this video when I use my TirTir tomorrow morning. Thank you.
I wouldn’t listen to anything Bethenny says. Her opinions are trash.
While pressing and tapping is the way, don’t forget to put primer on before and also if you are spot setting to make parts matte dont forget to pat on top of your foundation as well with the setting powder of your choice. ❤
Oooh yes I was excited to see this one ❤
God, I love you!! I’m just now rediscovering your channel, and makeup, after the pandemic and being in a relationship with an abusive boyfriend who wouldn’t allow me to wear it. You are so classy, so professional, and so informative. I love that your delivery hasn’t changed. Thanks for being you.
The only problem I have is always getting the wrong shade.. sigh
Anyone else look at their screen and answer back as if being talked to directly? why is everyone tapping it more than once into product?
😂😂 I do this when I watch other videos! 🖤🖤
@@RobertWelsh you know i had to buy the tirtir foundation (23N) and i chose my winter colour like a derp (wish you were here its so hard to find a summer one for me). i tried it and i love it. but yes there is a but i need to do my skincare first because it stuck to my dry patches. so need to moisturize better but wow! that's a beautiful foundation! umm what else have i missed from japan :) i got the face and hair oil. anything else you recommend?
Robert, I cannot thank you enough for this video. I got my TirTir last week and was very disappointed. However, now I use my TirTir milk toner, go in super light and tap (using your technique) and am shocked how beautiful my skin looks. I've even had compliments from my sister, which is a 1st!
Thank you, much love x
Robert is this a recently recorded video ?? I am asking (not trying to be rude) because you seem to be losing weight. I myself going on a weight loss journey starting from today 😂
Hey! I film all my videos about 1 or two weeks in advance unless it’s like a “scandle!” So it’s kind of recent! I don’t talk much about it because I know it can trigger some people but I have been loosing weight! I’ve been walking a lot (treadmill) and really changed up my diet the past months and I’ve lost around 22lbs so far! Gradually and slowly. I thought.. I’m 35.. I need to get healthy! 😂 good luck on your journey !!
@@RobertWelsh OMG thanks for sharing this is soooo inspiring and encouraging. Can I ask you what diet or changes you've been putting in place because the results suits you very well you look fresh and healthy I am so happy for you, keep on going you are doing very good. Wish me luck lol.
Thank you! Yea I don’t gate keep! 😂 although usual disclaimer I’m not a dietitian!
@@RobertWelsh Robert you are my food twin hahaha I am guilty of same thing and I have a terrible sweet tooth and when I eat sweets I need something savory afterwards lol... it's a vicious loop.
Googl amount of thank you (I watch the twin channel too lol) for sharing and taking time to write this detailed answer. You lift up my spirit for my journey and I am also trying to reduce carbs. You are a great human being and good luck again. Much love 🖤💜🖤💜🖤
Thank you for speaking on this. Seen too many reviews of the tir tir and people just slopping it on, too much product on the sponge. Hate when influencers slop the makeup on, it’s so painful to watch
Looks like Ms Frankel is rage baiting to stay relevant.
I love this foundation. LOVE it! For my sensitive skin, it's the lightest foundation next to powder foundation.
