- The Active Breathing Coordinator (ABC) is a monitoring device used to help minimize motion of the diaphragm and in minimizing the healthy dose that gets radiation in lung tumors and tumors in the upper abdomen. Patients with breast cancer may also use the device during radiotherapy, specifically patients with a breast tumor on their left side.
The Emory Department of Radiation Oncology has prepared this video to help patients understand what they can expect when instructed to use the ABC device during their treatment. This video assists with an American Sign Language (ASL) translator.
