3D Printed RC Crawler "Foams" with flexible filament ... they actually worked ... amazingly well!

  • Yes, it really does say 3D Printed Foams in the title, and yes they really are made out of flexible filament. I couldn't believe how well my crawlers worked with them either and looking forward to testing them on my trail trucks as well.
    If you want all the benefits of a soft foam with the hard sidewalls of a closed cell foam, both at the same time, then these definitely work!
    In the video I put them in some Pro-Line Trenchers but some of the footage is from testing them in JConcepts Landmines too, I just forgot to call it out on the video.
    Let me know what you think in the comments?

    Printing out some of these as we speak - I take my Capra in water occasionally and squeezing out foams is a big ol' pain in the butt. I like that I don't have to worry much about water damage and I can just drain them.

  • @HolmesHobbies
    @HolmesHobbies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Nice work! The combination of supple outer and stiff inner seems pretty close to spot on. I do wonder if it could be structured to resist side load while allowing more splay than equivalent foam. Like having really tall closed cell inners but without the stiffness in the middle.

      @JustScalin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great idea! That's definitely going to be my next step if they turn out durable long term. I've certainly been surprised by them and have pulled off moves that I would have killed a normal foam trying
