3D Printed RC Crawler "Foams" with flexible filament ... they actually worked ... amazingly well!
Yes, it really does say 3D Printed Foams in the title, and yes they really are made out of flexible filament. I couldn't believe how well my crawlers worked with them either and looking forward to testing them on my trail trucks as well.
If you want all the benefits of a soft foam with the hard sidewalls of a closed cell foam, both at the same time, then these definitely work!
In the video I put them in some Pro-Line Trenchers but some of the footage is from testing them in JConcepts Landmines too, I just forgot to call it out on the video.
Let me know what you think in the comments?

Going crazy painting a new shell! Airbrush paints without the airbrush ...
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I decided my LCG Crawler needed a new shell as the chopped up Dodge Ram 1500 (Modern day power wagon) shell wasn't cutting it. So I decided to get a Mon-tec Rock Body and some Pro-Line airbrush paint and do something a little different. It made a complete mess and my fingers were about 6 different colours but it turned out better than I expected and I love it. I hope this video gives you a bit ...
I got an SCX24 which will go full LCG after I've done this video ...
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I was very lucky to get a surprise Axial SCX24 for my birthday and I thought I'd take it out and see how hilarious it would be bog stock and then do my normal thing of tune and upgrade until it's almost unrecognisable. It actually turned out to be a really capable little thing. It does have a few obvious flaws like floppy shocks and a bit of a weird battery placement, but otherwise the servo on...

Finishing up the 3D printed shell ...

Well the shell is together and fitted but now it's time to seal the 3D print layers with some polyurethane varnish. Also some windows are needed so let's get those in as well. #justscalin Get crawler things I found on Amazon here (affiliate link): www.amazon.co.uk/shop/justscalin Follow me on Facebook: justscalin Just Scalin' Facebook group: groups/1213346495677263 Get...
I 3D printed a crawler shell now all I have to do is put it together!
มุมมอง 3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I felt like I was missing out since I'd not tried driving a hard body crawler. So I went off and found a nice Dodge Ram from the 80's and digitally pinched, bobbed, doved, shaved and chopped the arches. It took a lot of sanding, brushing, superglue and hot glue to get it together, but I think it was a pretty cool experience and definitely one I wanted to share. #justscalin Get crawler things I ...

    I added width. Now i'm working on adding a touch of weight. It's expensive and I'd rather not spend the money. I was thinking brass up front and aluminum in the rear.

    Your entire method in the rear is completely opposite of how anti squat works. Using a 1:1 drag car with a 4 link rear end as an example, raising the rear of the upper links and/or lowering the front of the upper rear links creates anti squat and will actually lift the rear under acceleration. This is what drives the front axle down. Our crawlers are no different.

    • @HollerRC
      @HollerRC 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right. I’m surprised it took 3 years for someone to comment who knew better. I learned about anti squat from watching videos on 1:1 vehicle geometry which inspired me to design and sell rear link risers for the scx24 and CR18P that mount to the rear axle. I’m going to try one on my trx4, but I’m skeptical that petg is durable enough.

    Put also a black one on my Bronco chassis. A little bit of trimming on the inner fender, put the original bumpers and the side sliders on and crawls the same like the Bronco. Why not? The same chassis and the body is lexan, no heavy hard body. The body is just a shell...

    Printing out some of these as we speak - I take my Capra in water occasionally and squeezing out foams is a big ol' pain in the butt. I like that I don't have to worry much about water damage and I can just drain them.

    I like my chassis a little higher for clearance, then use 1/4 oz adhesive wheel weight around the inside of my rims. So I have decent clearance heavier wheels, and battery pack low over the front axle

  • @morris4069
    @morris4069 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find it not how far the front unloads but how much the rear loads n squats that reduces your climbing angle. Doing the spring mod in only the rear may work better with the front normal but a low preset. Any amount of overdrive helps also.
