When this song hit number 1 on the charts they still played at my high school. that was located on their usual music path. Pat Simmons and I happened to have breakfast at the same little restaurant in Soquel, California, everyone let him be and after time he was just another regular. He rode a Harley and would pull-up out front shaking the glass. A good man he is.... And BTW.. they are still working on world peace through music.

The first song featuring Michael McDonald as lead singer with the Doobie Brothers was called Takin' It To The Streets in 1976. It is a very good tune and really shows off Michael's superb vocal abilities.

great band to see in concert, because they didn't use a bunch of studio sound gimmicks when recording records, so when they played live, it sounded just like what you heard on the radio. Love this Band. Was a freshman in High School 1972, and this was their first hit song, with many more to follow. All of their songs lyrics had an upbeat message to the listeners.
