Completely agree. I think the lyrics prime me, then when the shimmering wobbly synthesizer comes in and it all slows down it hits me all at once.
IMHO MGMT new album is probably the best indie album of this decade so far, still seems quite underrated in some circles.
This is how it always goes with them. Wait another 10 years and everyone will be calling this album a classic.

Such an interesting topic for a song and the production is the cherry on top
This albums sounds like a quieter, slower combination of Pink Floyd and the Cure. If that makes any sense
It does, it has an experimental yet catchy guitar riff that creates atmosphere through a complex but simple melody

there's like nothing to say about this song, it's just insanely good, incredibly relatable and feels pretty relevant to how i think a lot of people feel or have at least felt once

Something very deep cut smashing pumpkins about this that I love. Like when Robert smith and billy corgan collabed. I’m so proud of you guys! Mgmt was my first concert! And my ex boyfriend locked me in the car when they had their free meet and greet after the show. So sad, he drove us off. I would have benefited from meeting these guys 100%. My dream is a collab between MGMT and Never Shout Never, NSN has evolved a lot and is now an indie/psychedelic rock band, it would be a fantastic work of art.
This is incredible. Great writing. Great structure. Made me cry. And really hard to pin down in terms of genre. I got hints of Supertramp progressive and Radiohead feels. Not to mention a Pearl Thompson-like guitar, straight out of Disintegration. Quite a track. It's getting thousands of different, correct responses here.
