In Switzerland, where we have no Gov.-EV incentives, the price of the LR dual motor increased by about 1.6% (with a colour added) from 58'900 CHF to 59'900 CHF. But now you have to chose between Range and POOWER, which is really hard...

Tesla performance, red, white interior with nav 69990-no longer eligible for 7500 tax incentive. Really good. I am pondering the options and the long range single motor has me thinking...as does the EV6...and the Model Y! Your reports are really helping...towards a Polestar.
Hi Bradley. Another great video. Personally, just taken delivery of my new Polestar 2 and love it. Would still go for dual motor if I'd had the other options. One question if you don't mind - what setting do you recommend for charging from domestic supply? I charged for 12 hours last night at 32kW and only added 80 miles. Thanks
@ neil Saye That would have been 32 amps set in the car I think and it depends upon your wall charger. Generally single phase is 7kw and three phase would be up to 22kw but the polestar 2 can only do 11kw on ac
@@neilsaye1 my one is only charging on octopus go at night. It does about 30% in 4 hours at 7kw 74kwh battery @7kwh should be around 10hrs. Particularly if you are only charging to 90%. Great video! a small note: Volvo Group = Busses, Trucks, Construction Equipment, Marine, .. Volvo Cars = separate entity (sold from Volvo group to Ford some 20 years ago, again sold from Ford to Geely some 10 years ago.)
I'm going to lease a polestar 2 as my first car. The only reason I can do this is because they've made the performance optional. This allows me to actually insure the car. Even though a base tesla model 3 is a bit cheaper than the Polestar 2 LR SM, I cannot get insurance on the Tesla. Unless I have my dad as the named driver then it is £15,000 a year for insurance lol. However, the polestar is £2,300 for the first year. Baring in mind I am 19 and at the time I receive the car I would have held my license for less than 3 months, that is very cheap for a first car.
The changes have now made it too expensive for me to lease (with the options I require). I asked for a couple of quotes from leasing companies but they both told me they are in the dark on pricing and delivery of the Polestar. I’m ditching the electric option for now and buying a petrol run-around for the next 12-24 months until more EV’s are released and prices come down.
Another great video. I agree, it’s good to see options and I like that they’ve gone for 3 packs rather than endless extras to choose from. I was disappointed when first the grant went and now the price for the same car has technically risen but I’ve finally got my order in. Went for the dual motor with plus and pilot packs. I think I would have felt like I wasn’t getting the car I really wanted without those. I did have to think long and hard about the dual motor vs single motor long range. Head said single motor, mainly because of the range but again, I’d really wanted the performance of the AWD even if I don’t use that a lot. Bring in September.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm sure you will love it when it arrives and to be honest, the dual motor performance is superb and one of the most fun things about the car. The other nice thing is that you will have the heat pump and tinted rear windows which are a nice added bonus!
Polestar has a NCAP 5-star rating - I wonder what effect not adding the pilot pack makes to this as I think NCAP takes into account these features. Will it also effect the insurance premium? I was a little disappointed with the effect on the price for the equivalent of the launch car and this straight after the Government effectively pulls the £3K grant. You do get the Heat pump though; I hope it’s worth the extra £3K. However, after taking a test drive last Friday in a launch car, I’m hooked. Currently own a BMW 3 series XDrive so will not go back to 2-wheel drive. Thanks for all your videos, its a great help.
Biggest complaint against EVs was that the manufacturers were only producing Top Spec. Models. Good to see more Companies offering different specifications for their EVs.
I desperately tried to buy a Polestar but they wouldn't sell me one. Went for a 3 year lease, filled in all the paperwork and was then told my application was rejected. They directed me to their underwriters ALD (utterly hopeless), they said the issue was with Polestar as my application was never received for credit checks, back, forth, back, forth. Eventually got a call from someone further up the food chain, who while pleasant, once again gave me no option to proceed with the lease. I bought a Telsa 3 instead, who had no issues at all with me leasing a car. Shame, as I really liked the Polestar 2, but this experience has put me right off the brand.
Comfort, noise? What´s the big issue on these points? I have a Polestar 2. My other car is a Mercedes GLC 350e 4 Matic with air suspension. Very comfortable and pretty damn quiet. But I find the Polestar 2 not that much of a let down when I drive it.
POINT OF INFORMATION - UPDATE Again, apologies for piggy-backing on your channel Bradley, but an update to my earlier gripe about successive extended delivery dates is needed, if only to allay any despondency my earlier comments may have caused to those having recently placed an order or who are contemplating doing so. Pleased to say it's positive news and so where better to spread this than here. Its all about the VIN. I've discovered once your order page records a VIN it means things are actually happening - and seemingly for the good. A while ago, having placed my order in early February, with an advertised anticipated delivery in April, the delivery date was pushed repeatedly further and further back - finally to 'August/September'. Polestar does not volunteer this - you have to monitor your order record yourself to discover the bad news. But about 10 days ago my page suddenly recorded a VIN and the anticipated delivery was reduced to 'July.' A few days later an 'anticipated build date' - 26th April, appeared and the anticipated delivery date was then given as 14th July. Yesterday again on checking, the 'anticipated delivery date' is now stated as 16th June. Not April as originally advertised, but then not September either. You need to open up the 'Download pro former invoice' PDF to discover the actual dates for yourself but presumably, nearer to the due date, Polestar will be in contact proactively for the money! Hope this much more encouraging experience is helpful, Jeff.
I was torn. The Tesla 3 offers better performance and range but I have eventually decided I am not prepared to pay out that sort of money when there are still unresolved doubts about build quality. I love the look of the Polestar and really, don't need 0-60 in silly times, and range is a key factor for me so am looking at the long-range single motor. My only concern, never having driven an electric car, is how responsive it will be in overtaking - I do a lot of driving on rural roads where the ability to be able to overtake safely is essential - try getting stuck behind a lorry for miles on a rural road. My current (diesel) car is good enough but for the outlay for a Polestar, I would want better. The other option is a Mustang, but the Polestar is, quite frankly, classier. Now I am torn between Polestar long range versions (single or twin motor) and will have to wait until I see actual 'live' reviews of the variants
Thanks Malcolm, one thing I will say with an electric car is that the torque is instant, no lag at all whcih makes overtaking very easy. I think you'd find even the single motor version to be fine but it would be worth testing driving just to be sure. Hopefully access to test drive cars will become easier in the future.
So £3000 more than the previous model for the same spec with added heat pump. And £6000 more than a month ago with grant. Tesla reduced their price by £1500 (long range duel motor) for the same model with added heat pump. As such I cancelled by Polestar test drive. (I was meant to have one in Banbury last year but was cancelled, so to me this is £6000 more than I was interested in). I’d rather get a q4 or pre-reg I pace for the £52k range. Better residuals due to the badges. Ps why are you comparing the performance M3 vs max polestar? The long range Tesla is cheaper and spec’d similar with more performance. Both have panoramic roof, heat pump, matrix lights, wireless phone charger, 360 cameras, driver assistance and so on.
Very good point, I did try to make it clear that it isn't a fair comparison but so much time is spent comparing the Polestar with the Model 3 and the prices are very similar. Tesla straight line performance wins every time however I'd argue that the Polestar handles better, is more comforable on the road and has less interior noise. Plus the build quality is top notch.
Same in Norway - These new ordering options mask a surprising high price hike for the LR-AWD variant. It is a little disappointing, especially with Tesla reducing their prices at the moment.
