Needless to tell you the similarities we have in the kitchen (and many things in life) as two neighbor nations. As for this delicious Sarikopites, you mentioned the name might be coming from Turkey. Sari means yellow but not sure about the kopites lol. We have a desert Sariburma meaning like yellow twist (twisted dough) , but as far as I know they put walnuts in it instead of feta. oh and let me update/correct myself, like u mentioned sarik means turban and sarigi burma is a desert meaning the twisted turban and it was shortened by time as sariburma lol.

Love your channel. I have visited Crete many times but only the east of the Island. After covid I'll choose Chania Airport instead of Heraklion. Your son looks great wearing the Sariki. Go buy him the boots too. Cretan partisans wore the Sariki and were fierce fighters during ww2 and the Nazis never beat them. Your Heritage is of a strong and proud people and the food culture is amazing2😍

Yes! There are so many different versions of this combination (phyllo and mizythra) and they’re all delicious. I miss Chania so much and can’t wait to go back 🤗

Pretty common village name. Are you from Crete? I've been wanting to visit Crete for a few years now, Greece in general. In Romanian, we say Creta. One of my cousin's used to actually work in Greece.

Hi Mary! Our home flooded during Hurricane Harvey. It was a huge disaster. It took us a few months to fix it up and then we decided to sell it.. Hence the new kitchen.. lol! I know, it gets confusing and within another year we will probably move again :) thanks for being here!
