Has anyone ever calculated how much fuel is wasted by North America's use of stop signs over yield or uncontrolled "driver to the right goes" methods of traffic control? When a European friend heard I lived in Canada, he said.... Ya.... that's the place where people stop at even rural intersections with no other traffic in sight.
Everybody hate these speed boxes. Everybody love the police ticketing bicyclists for speeding. Speeding cars are not a problem. Speeding bicyclists are. Go figure!
Thank you! I work as a Crossing Guard in downtown Toronto and during rush hour a driver goes through a red light almost every minute. I tell drivers it's a $1,000 ticket and they laugh in my face. I hope they catch every last one of these rude and dangerous drivers.
I don't know, as long as they are not too picky with speeds I guess, also, once people know where they are they'll just speed in the other parts of the streets that they don't have them in anyways because you can't put one of these every 500 meters one after the other, put them in risk areas such as school zones or high accident areas only.
Speed cameras are the result of a lack of good road design imagination. Speed cameras are for profit. They only stop people from speeding who notice and care. Designing the road so that people are safe at the above average driving speed is a solution.
Funny! And the tickets sent to the car owners has a sign of "WHO'S BAD?" on the end of the bill. I bet they cancel all the tickets from the good people that were ticketed while rushing to help someone else....
Except for the Dozen kids hit every year by people doing 50-60 in a 30-40 zone. As I driver who provides service in residential areas I have no problem with speed cameras.🤷♂️
I will drive farther to work to avoid these areas of the cameras ...even if I have to pay more money in fuel for your FN carbon taxes that will harm the planet by your words ...MONEY GRAB IS ALL THIS IS !
Speed Cameras are the best Schools on roadside teaching people how to drive and how to keep themselves Calm and Obey the Law applicable all the time for safety of humanity.
Really? A fine 2 weeks later that you didn't even know happened makes things safer? Grow a brain, do some research on the matter and realize it's about revenue generation and not safety.
If the fines were means-based (based on net worth and income - probably) then this indiscriminate means of taxing speeders is acceptable. Otherwise it is an unfair tax. Any punishment that is excessive, or not applied equally is not legal. The effect of the fine must be equal for all. (Consider a scenario in an Ontario lake where a multi-millionaire builds 100 feet of poured concrete dock out into navigable waterway, knowing that a permit would be refused and accepting that the fine is just added to project cost. The effect of the fine is not equal for all.)
Is that why pedestrian deaths are 4x what they were a decade ago? Germany has highways without limits but every single residential road is 30kmh. There are people that get degrees and come together to decide these limits. just obey the speed limit.

Thought that's why we lowered the street speed limits to make it safer. Deep down thought it's not really about safety. The wef claims it reduces emissions lol.
40 km/h unreasonable? Try 30 km/h. I find that when there's very little traffic on the road and you are driving at the posted speed limit, it feels like you're driving so slow.
