Great video! Just bought the anker one and am super excited to use it! One thing I will say in defense of apple's battery pack which I've used daily for a couple years now, it's not really designed to charge your phone from dead. I bought 2 of these Anker QI2 portable banks to charge my IPhone 15. After a week of usage on both banks, I would absolutely avoid this wireless bank until they solve the heat issues. It becomes extremely HOT in your pocket after 30-40 mins of charging, I got temp warnings on my iPhone. @@charliebrown331 I know reasons for keeping your phone aside. I'm only asking because I wouldn't choose to place my phone in my pocket while it's wirelessly charging. If my hands are filled, I would just choose not to charge if it's going to be there for an extended period.
Hi, Max Tech. When the iPhone 15 Pro Max hit 80% and stayed for a bit. Could that be the iPhone delaying the charge to lengthen the battery life on the iPhone? Very nice comparison. 😊
If you're buying the Anker to attach to you phone and walk around with I think you're doing it wrong (too bulky). I bought this for my wife and me for traveling and I think it does exactly what you'd expect. Quick boost on the go with the wireless and larger capacity top off's with the cable. I would have like to seen charging on the wireless vs. the puck and then wired vs. the puck.
I finally found an honest review of this product. Every other review gives glowing reports about the Qi2 (which is great) but says nothing about how the build up of heat slows charging, reduces efficiency, and possibly affects battery life. These products are helpful in a pinch but definitely not great for regular use.
They will too keep the EU Happy as the new law says New Designs must use Type C and/or Wireless Charging older tech that is still made has a few more years to comply but as of now all new tech must use USB C or Wireless to Charge
Theres a reason why Apple limits the wireless charging to 7.5W - heating. Past 7.5W, the phone battery will experience high heating that damages the battery. There is a need to prioritize the health of the phone internal battery than how fast it would charge. This is what people do not understand. The magsafe battery should not be used as "power bamk" but as "battery extender only" attach it to your phone even if its fully charge especially when not in use. If you want fast charging, use cable.
and by tests this product preserves the battery life more vs using a standard powerbank, only use the powerbank when your battery is low if you are out.
I don’t wanna sound like im hating. But I don’t use an external battery when my phone dies. I start using it from 30% ish or when its 50%. Can u try charging from then on? If the 15% 7% makes any difference? TIA
you will use it not as a powerbank when your battery is low, you use it while you're using your phone. To dumb down the term 'battery extender' basically it uses the magsafe pack capacity first before using the battery capacity of the phone.
I love & have so many Anker products but some haven't been stellar. Their compact dock just overheats whereas OWC 14-port Dock stays pretty darn cool. Thanks for the comparison review!
Anything GaN (Gallium Nitride!) is going to be 30 to 60 percent cooler than a Silicone Equivalent as it is more efficient at energy transfer thus much cooler and as a result less wasted power Big Tech is trying to replace Silicone Chips with Gan as a stop Gap until Photonic Chips are as cheap and reliable at least to what we have now but Gallium is much harder to work with at 4NM and smaller so new techniques and possibly new Fab machines need to be developed! Remember Gallium is more a Liquid at most temps above freezing than a solid even holding it will turn it from solid to liquid almost instantly So in short by Gan Chargers especially Gen II (Better Regulation Chips and heat protections!) also even if charging at 30 to 60 watts use a 100w rated cable at least is not higher (150 or even 200!) as they have better eMarker Chips Basically a Chip that says how much it can handle and how hot it thinks it is, Plus generally more heat dissipation when needed through better materials! Also use a charger that is higher rated than the device for best energy efficiency few devices ever work best at their max speed for very long so if your phone handles 30w buy a 45w or 68w charger. Also if it has multiple ports don't use them or at the very least not on devices that need more than 1w to 5w to charge (Like Kindles and toothbrushes!) Good Cables Brands include FasGear, Beasus, UGreen, Cable Creations Also for Chargers Belkin is not only Reliable and easy to find but have Great Warranties that cover your equipment (Phones/Tablets Laptops etc!) for Damage if they Fail to work Over Voltage, Heat Control, Surge Protection etc etc! Anker I find hit and miss they are not bad but only become so popular as the CCP backs them so they spend on Ads Big Time Also if you can find them Aukey use to be a good brand
I got the Anker MagGo 10000. It'a a great battery but still have a lot flaws. 1st it does not fit the 6.1" iPhone 15 Pro, only the Max. The battery is longer than the 15 Pro when mounted on the phone. 2nd is the build quality. The Charging Pad face of the power bank does not stay flat on the phone when charging, the surface has irregularities (bad quality) and the lower part where the second magnet is located has always a 1-2 millimeters raise from the glass back of the phone. 3rd, on the iPhone 15 Pro it starts to charge with 15 Watts but after 30-40 mins goes all the way down to 5-6 Watts (measured on Ampere).
Apple's MagSafe Battery Pack is literally designed to keep your phone between the 40-90% range so as to not overcharge the battery and diminish its life. This also means it's designed to not charge your phone past 90% since getting it all the way up to 100 is not efficient and would result in more heat for less power. The MagSafe Battery Pack is not so much a charger as it is a battery extender, and using it as such just means I don't have to worry about having a wall charger and cable on me. I really hope they bring it back with USB-C 'cause having two would honestly be ideal for my use case.
I just ordered an otterbox defender case on Amazon and am now seeing these videos. I doubt wireless charging will be an option for my iPhone. Great review btw
Wired charging so much better it‘s crazy. I would much more enjoy the apple pack to deliver the energy that the phone uses and not charge it so there is less heat.
A decent power bank with a capacity of 10,000mhA has about 60% efficiency if after charging the iPhone 15 with a 3300mhA battery, only 37% of the power remains (3700mhA from 10,000mhA). If we take into account the efficiency of 60%, the real remains capacity after fully charging the iPhone 15 is about 2200mhA (3700 x 0,6) to use again. So tipical powerbank 10000mhA can charge iphone 14/15 about 1,7 times!
great review - I was wondering how the Alogic Matrix ULTIMATE 3-in-1 Wireless Charger with 5,000mAh MagSafe Power Bank will do (states that this can do 15W fast charging)
I prefer the apple one for all the built in features especially with reverse charging and temperature control it’s smoother and compact because that’s what works best. I take mine to Disney for a day and it’s good enough to last the day.
Well they named it right but the spelled it wrong, boat “anchor” is what that huge thing is. These days I have charging everywhere and I’d rather have the Apple for its compact convenience when I get caught on a very rare chance of running low.
Beside wireless, Oppo svooc charging technology are much better than PD protocol. SVOOC charge at 65W, 80W maintain temp at 40c max in 30c and below room temp, while while any iphone charge at just 20-27W phone temp is 39-40c, that suck
I love the idea of these kind of battery packs but they are completely unusable and even destructive in warm weather. I’d love one that attached to the back and has a small cable integrated into it
Is there a reason why Apple stopped selling these power banks? I tried purchasing one a couple months ago and couldn’t find any on their site, store or any other stores
It depends on the purpose of the spare battery. If you just need a little extra charge as a backup it seems the Apple MagSafe battery would be fine and charge to 40% relatively quickly. Enough to get you out of a jam if you’ve been taking lots of pictures.
Well using the apple MagSafe charger, usually my 12 Pro Max last a day with around 30percent .definitely using the apple puck to charge when i reached 54% got around 2-3hr charge to get 94%. Well thinking it’s more of a top up, best to get a verbatim slim powerbank 10k mah and PD charge, it’s much more faster and efficient and lesser lost power due to heat transfer, but for a small top up charge, apple magsafe portable charger does the job imo
Which is why these "reviewers" dont know what the heck they are talking about. They compare 2 different things and tell you how bad 1 product is because they dont even know how to use it. One is a battery charger and the other is a battery pack. One is meant to charge your phone after you have been using it for a bit and need to charge it up. The other product is a battery pack meant to stay on the phone and be used together with the phone charged together at 100% and from there you go on about your day. I can guarantee you that if you use the Apple battery pack the way its supposed to be used you can use up the whole battery pack and your phone will be well over 50% by the time you get home with over 5 hours of on screen time and your phones internal battery health will suffer less in the long run. The Anker one if used wirelessly will get your phone hotter and will absolutely kill your phones battery over time.
I would choose the Anker one over the Apple one because of the flip stand and usb c charging. Also the 6000 mah version is even better if you for watching movies.
I bought one but the magnet is weak. It's still good to have a backup charger. Love the display. I mostly use it for my airpods and ipad I keep in the car
The Anker one is too thick for me. I wish a Qi2 5,000mah SLIM battery pack existed, something like the Anker 621 but can do 15w. Maybe that's asking for a lot.
I have a power bank from Charmast, 5000mAh, smaller than Apple's, magnetic (without MagSafe but PD and integrated cable) and a few other highlights. Charges my iPhone from 20-80% in half an hour and didn't cost $20. So what is MagSafe for? Surely it can be easy?! But your video was very informative. Great content. Greetings from Germany so far. 🙂👌
For some reasons - since 17.4 update most of my anker products ain’t charging my phone 14 pro max .. maybe it’s just me but reply if you are facing same problem - Power bank or brick but nothing working but it works on my partners phone who still is on 17.3
What’s the point of these though..? If you’re on the go and need a charge, you need the most efficient charge, which would be a battery pack delivering 30 watts via USB C.
You can plug a short USB C in from most MagSafe battery packs; it just doesn't hang down. For some, the point is that they don't want the hassle of a cord hanging down while they're going about their day (my wife plays music at work and finds it very difficult to have a cord hanging down when she's on her feet).
There’s NO mention of these two battery packs being FULLY CHARGED before the charging test began! My Apple MagSafe Battery FULLY charges my iPhone without dying! Is MY Apple MagSafe battery somehow better than all the others! I doubt it.

With all that power loss with wireless charging, I’ll just stick with the Anker 5000 mah Nano power bank with usb c connection, as it will charge much faster & better, with less heat, and $60.00 cheaper!
2:30 if your using the Apple magsafe battery pack to power your phone from the dead then you are using it wrong and you dont understand the intended use of the battery pack.
yes, no. i have a 20.000mah samsung 25w powerbank inside my backpack. fully charges my M1 MacBook Pro and charges 5 times my iPhone 13 Pro. with the anker 65w charger, it fully charges the power bank it 2.5h. oh, and the samsung power bank also fast charges my iPhone. just as fast as the 20w wall brick. when it comes to emergencies, i always keep the apple battery pack in my jeans. it’s slim, small, barely weighs anything.
Qi2 comes to mimic Magsafe wireless charging speed up to 15W. Now I can see that there is a lot of details to consider, including temperature on batteries. I've seen in other videos that charging with usb C Magsafe charges your phone faster with less heat. Have anyone tried using the Magsafe cable on a battery Usb C port?
MagSafe is not a charger !! You put it on your phone when both battery pack and phone are 100% charged……. After using your phone the MagSafe battery pack discharges first, then you remove it and use your phone with still 90% battery. Again MagSafe is not a charger to put on your phone after your phone Is going flat !!!! All you guys comparing these products when you don’t know what the MagSafe actually is…… comparing 🍎 & 🍊’s
Now, this prove more that wireless charging are sucks, not only overheat your phone ( which is bad for batt lifespan ) it's actually even superslow carging speed, imagine your phone heatup like 40c for long period of time, not to mention charging with a case, i rather get slimmer 5k mAh powerbank with wired cable
All portable wireless chargers get too hot for me to like them except for Apple’s. I buy a new phone every 4 years so battery health is pretty important for me. But, I’m not saying I’ll stick with Apple’s charger (no), because it charges the device batteries with too little percentage. So for now, my choice of portable wireless charger is: none ✨
There’s no comparison here! Apple is the way to go! It can be carried in our pocket, great magnets, the battery widget is working, slim, light! This Anker is like carrying an elephant with you!!
He also forgets the fuller a battery gets the longer it takes to finish the last 15 to 20 percent as the battery is stressed regardless of wireless or wired charging
the limit you're talking about is the iPhone's internal battery charging limit, but this limit is at around 50% at 30 minutes with a 30w usb charger. the Anker Qi2 battery took 1.5 hours to reach 50%.
No the last 10 to 20% of any lithium based battery or cell be it Ion Polymer Sodium etc the charging slows as it get fuller as well as hotter it's essentially a type of Compression Imagine a tank of air the more air it gets filled with the harder it gets too fill and the hotter the gases inside get the reason why the gas fills cold as it is let out is thermodynamics as the molecules get further apart they are less stressed and thus loose heat aka energy! you literally can not beat laws of nature like Thermal Dynamics we can bend them a little or possible in rare cases alot but we cannot break them when we try nothing happens if we are lucky and if we are not bad things very bad things happen@@Roy-c2u1b

If you're running your phone until it's dead... you need a different solution. The lightweight apple battery pack is for topping up and getting you out of a bind.
I have an Apple’s battery pack and can’t say that I’m very happy with it. The technology leaves much to be desired. The main problem as you said is overheating. Maybe my IPhone 12’s battery is not ok, but when it’s above 30 degrees Celsius outside this thing just doesn’t work. After 15 minutes it overheats and the charging stops. Don’t think that I’ve got a fake battery pack, I’m sure it’s an original one. To add to this - Apple’s battery pack can hardly charge the phone when you’re using it, even not very hard. It charges really fast only when the weather is cold, frosty. Conclusion - it’s not a powerbank, it’s a battery extender designed to be worn during all day on the back of your phone.

Hi, Max Tech. When the iPhone 15 Pro Max hit 80% and stayed for a bit. Could that be the iPhone delaying the charge to lengthen the battery life on the iPhone?
Very nice comparison. 😊
NO, Optimized battery was turned off so there were no restrictions on performance just lots of overheating.
I bought one Anker mag safe powerbank, and it is overhearing my iPhone while Apple powerbank and Belkin are working just fine.
now that's what you call a proper comparison! magnetic chargers are cool but I still use the Samsung wireless charger from the S6 with my iphone
Hoping apple update this with type c.
They will too keep the EU Happy as the new law says New Designs must use Type C and/or Wireless Charging older tech that is still made has a few more years to comply but as of now all new tech must use USB C or Wireless to Charge
Ain’t landscape and horizontal mean da same?
Theres a reason why Apple limits the wireless charging to 7.5W - heating.
Past 7.5W, the phone battery will experience high heating that damages the battery. There is a need to prioritize the health of the phone internal battery than how fast it would charge.
This is what people do not understand. The magsafe battery should not be used as "power bamk" but as "battery extender only" attach it to your phone even if its fully charge especially when not in use. If you want fast charging, use cable.
👏👏👏
and by tests this product preserves the battery life more vs using a standard powerbank, only use the powerbank when your battery is low if you are out.
I’ve seen lot of reviews but this is the best video with super good explanation and the details we all need generally.
Remember Gallium is more a Liquid at most temps above freezing than a solid even holding it will turn it from solid to liquid almost instantly
So in short by Gan Chargers especially Gen II (Better Regulation Chips and heat protections!) also even if charging at 30 to 60 watts use a 100w rated cable at least is not higher (150 or even 200!) as they have better eMarker Chips Basically a Chip that says how much it can handle and how hot it thinks it is, Plus generally more heat dissipation when needed through better materials!
Also use a charger that is higher rated than the device for best energy efficiency few devices ever work best at their max speed for very long so if your phone handles 30w buy a 45w or 68w charger. Also if it has multiple ports don't use them or at the very least not on devices that need more than 1w to 5w to charge (Like Kindles and toothbrushes!)
Good Cables Brands include FasGear, Beasus, UGreen, Cable Creations
Also for Chargers Belkin is not only Reliable and easy to find but have Great Warranties that cover your equipment (Phones/Tablets Laptops etc!) for Damage if they Fail to work Over Voltage, Heat Control, Surge Protection etc etc!
Anker I find hit and miss they are not bad but only become so popular as the CCP backs them so they spend on Ads Big Time
Also if you can find them Aukey use to be a good brand
This is so far the best review I have ever got about this power bank. Thank you
Apple's MagSafe Battery Pack is literally designed to keep your phone between the 40-90% range so as to not overcharge the battery and diminish its life.
But the efficiency and safety of Magsafe for your battery is unparalleled my guy!
How does this Anker Qi2 magnetic battery pack compare with Anker’s Qi2 “puck” that you mentioned?
Please do the Anker 622 MagGo 5000maH pack next
And also comparing the total charge gained using wireless vs using a USB C cable from it
I prefer the apple one for all the built in features especially with reverse charging and temperature control it’s smoother and compact because that’s what works best. I take mine to Disney for a day and it’s good enough to last the day.
Have you seen Momax Q.Mag X1 powerbank? They say on their website that it's Qi2 already. But I have not seen any TH-camr review it yet.
I’d love one that attached to the back and has a small cable integrated into it
Could be Fun to compare this to the ICEMAG with build in fan
How about with optimized charging turned on does it make a difference?
If you use the usb cable, it last a lot longer
Is there a reason why Apple stopped selling these power banks? I tried purchasing one a couple months ago and couldn’t find any on their site, store or any other stores
Lightning to USB C
@@Quan1993 does that mean they’re going to release a battery pack with usbc?
Actually i was hoping apple to release type c version of thier battery pack but they didn't 😢
About good take care iPhone 15 Pro Apple or Anker?
Doubling voltage increases wattage, not amperage. mAH remains 1460. Wanna retract?
I also heard fast charging hurts your battery health.
Why wouldn’t you be comparing this to the one that is a direct equivalent- Anker has a thinner, lower capacity one
This thing overheats a lot and destroyed my 15PM battery health. 10% loss in 6 months.
This thing mean anker or apple?
@Maxtech Awesome vid, Max. If you can’t recommend the MagGo 10K what can you recommend - that has a stand and wireless charging?
wasn't the whole point of qi2 that it was way more efficient and generated less heat? its seems like magsafe/qi1 is performing the same or even better
But the MagSafe battery from apple can also charge with 15W
So guys, it still worth it to buy ANKER power brick? for iPhone15?
Landscape or horizontal?🤔
What portable charger would your recommend then if it’s not the Apple or Anker for 2024?
The apple magsafe pack is a totally different product than what the chargers are.
For some reasons - since 17.4 update most of my anker products ain’t charging my phone 14 pro max .. maybe it’s just me but reply if you are facing same problem - Power bank or brick but nothing working but it works on my partners phone who still is on 17.3
What about if u charged the phone using the Anker battery via usb-c?
Which magsafe powerbank would be the best for my 15 pro max ?
Not worth the upgrade I got the anker before that one and it’s horrible heats up so bad and can’t even charge it enough
But which battery pack is better for an iPhone 13 mini or 12 mini?
The Apple MagSafe would be optimal for smaller phones and possibly charge it completely from 0%. and it's the same size as the iPhone Mini.
This was prob the best review of this I have seen. Good job! I learned a lot!
So the 30000mAh magsafe power banks on Aliexpress are scams?
What’s the point of these though..? If you’re on the go and need a charge, you need the most efficient charge, which would be a battery pack delivering 30 watts via USB C.
You can plug a short USB C in from most MagSafe battery packs; it just doesn't hang down. For some, the point is that they don't want the hassle of a cord hanging down while they're going about their day (my wife plays music at work and finds it very difficult to have a cord hanging down when she's on her feet).
Apple one small and easy to use don’t need extra display this is over kill
Excellent video. Very informative and helpful.
There’s NO mention of these two battery packs being FULLY CHARGED before the charging test began!
My Apple MagSafe Battery FULLY charges my iPhone without dying!
Is MY Apple MagSafe battery somehow better than all the others!
I doubt it.
20w power input?
I’ve seen my apple battery go up to 24/26wts while charging my iPhone.
Qi 2 was Future Proof ,One That Manfactures Should Work With liquid cooling Vapour chamber For Beter Thermal Management For Both Mobile & Wireless Charger Vc Cooling System ,Apple & Google Pixel phones & Anker qi2 & Other Brands Should Work ,Samsung Already Started Using Vapor Chamber & Oneplus Has Dual VC Sandwiched .
Can you make a video on the best way to charge your phone ?
Oh no… Maybe they can fix it via firmware in a few weeks?
Got this anker charger on tiktok for $29, hell of a deal.
With all that power loss with wireless charging, I’ll just stick with the Anker 5000 mah Nano power bank with usb c connection, as it will charge much faster & better, with less heat, and $60.00 cheaper!
Not really look at the size of it..try 2 apple battery’s vs anker or just stick with what works usbc cable..
When can you buy the new Powerbanks
Wasn’t apples discontinued because of no c port?
Does it charge at 15w wirelessly an iPhone 13?
Qi2 comes to mimic Magsafe wireless charging speed up to 15W. Now I can see that there is a lot of details to consider, including temperature on batteries. I've seen in other videos that charging with usb C Magsafe charges your phone faster with less heat. Have anyone tried using the Magsafe cable on a battery Usb C port?
Do a compare with Sharge ICEMAG please 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Inductive charging is convenient, but wasteful and slow. All that heat is wasted energy and results in throttling. I prefer using wired chargers.
Exactly these tech reviewers are not reviewers they just put these videos out without even understanding what it is that they are reviewing.
I like Apple’s design for the battery extension rather than a fat ass brick. The goal is for back up battery not to be charging at 100% at all times
What did I learn from this video:”but both of them !! ”
Why even compare these things? It’s not a battery extender like apple’s plus 3rd party packs get uncomfortably hot
An iPhone is normally required to complete 1 business day therefore magsafe battery is decently serving the purpose..!
I used Anker 621 for 3 days straight and it didn't get hot at all.
main point here is that apple stopped selling theirs (until a new usb-c one comes out hopefully) so the comparison is somewhat useless
There’s no comparison here! Apple is the way to go! It can be carried in our pocket, great magnets, the battery widget is working, slim, light! This Anker is like carrying an elephant with you!!
😁
Is it now with 25w on 16 pro?
NGL... i bought Anker's 622 MagGo 5,000 mAh and size bloat is a real thing. They have a folding stand which is much better.
If I want a battery pack I want it small. Any larger and I'll take a full on non-Magsafe battery pack
People make fun of the Apple battery pack for being overrated... but it fits a niche quite well. If you're running your phone until it's dead... you need a different solution. The lightweight apple battery pack is for topping up and getting you out of a bind.
Thanks. Just saved my some $$$$. Keep it up
I have an Apple’s battery pack and can’t say that I’m very happy with it.
I think you may have a fake apple battery pack, as they don’t over heat.
@@mindfulllovelife The battery pack doesn’t overheat, the phone overheats.
