I absolutely love this voiceover style. You manage to time the commentary to build tension, answer questions the viewers might have about the position, and keep an exciting pace. Props to you and the editor
I agree. His commentary has the artistry of a scripted narrative, but if he has a script, he's a darn good actor. I think he's probably just gifted in being able to ad lib really well.
So impressed with Eric's opponent. She didn't just turtle up like so many of us do when attacked but counter attacked while defending and didn't take the queen until it was correct to do so. I'm actually surprised at the eval and that Eric still had a strong attack after the final queen sac. It's games like this that make me wish we could pick the most intense moment in the game and add 30 seconds or a minute to the clock because I feel the beautiful game could have continued for a few more moves without the time scramble.
4:15 Exactly why Chess Coach Andras says to stop telling people to count defenders and that you have to calculate all the captures. Counting defenders often just doesn't work and you have to end up calculating them all anyway and can lead you into trouble.
This voiceover commentary with the overlay is the best chess content I’ve ever seen. Over the board, partially online-esque, and realtime analysis. Incredible
You are the calmest chess player I have ever seen. Even when you've lost a game, or when you've been in a losing or difficult position, you kept your composure and cool, never losing your temper. That is a trait of a chess player that I admire the most and one that's inspiring to any chess player that had gotten very frustrated from their defeat.
Thank goodness for the post game analysis. I was going back and forth in the video trying to understand everything that was happening. What a great matchup, and a well played game.
That is an insane game!! Loved it from start to finish. Nice transparency for the viewers! Must have been an incredible feeling to actually play it yet terrifying at the same time :D Thanks for this very entertaining video :)
Wow! What a game! You both played really well but Eric was on another level. Loved the huge queen tension there! Finding good moves is one thing but finding them so quickly and accurately in such a time pressure is very impressive. Hats off!
Beautiful game, shades of the hikaru vs gelfand game, but with an actual queen sac at the end. I have games that I'm proud of but if I played that I would never top it
I usually don't like watching analysis videos of otb games because I don't like their format but I really liked this format and the game itself was incredible as well which helps a lot!
Dude for a second I thought this is the end of the hybrid format but then not only did it come back, it came back with a very interesting game. I just love these games that look so different. Makes for a lot of interesting choices.
Excellent stuff. And when you're facing off against a 'sit-upright, double flick pushing of hair behind each ear' type of opponent...you know it's going to be a battle! 😮
Jobava London setup with early h4 and long castles is amazing against the Dutch, most players don't get time to do anything before kingside gets obliterated. I beat a 2100 dude like while being 1k elo (3+0 blitz)
good game, I am watching your video and I improved in my chess, your are calm in your chess game.I try to understand what opponent next move because of your video. Thank you.

I believe Eric edits his own videos, so double props to Eric!

Eric Rosen is the KING of chess content. No gimmicks, just a normal, down-to-earth guy who happens to be a great chess player and a streamer.
Very good!!
"Of course we're in a playing hall with other players so I did not scream that out" 😂 Imagine Eric really screaming oh no my queen!! lmao
Would have made great content though.

Also: Queen hanging all game
lol
Well it’s not “hanging.”

You can see the player Eric played in the last round right behind Anna. Glad to see he made his round on time this round
LOL, and great eyes spotting that guy!!
Same on the game before. The #80 in the world player was on the left side of the room...
Oh no my, oh no my, oh no my, oh no my Queen!
Oh no my everything
This is like watching a Tal classic! Well done Eric, games like are such a treat to watch 🤩
Incredible game from you both. But man, all of those Queen sacrifices was simply beautiful. Obstinate for the glorious win. Well played!
Just imagine Eric shouting out 4 times in a row 'Oh no my Queen' haha

definitely the most exciting game i've seen so far this year, congrats on the win!
Holy cow! What an amazing game!!!! Thank you Eric for making chess so interesting!

This helps thank you.
Very interesting, Tension till the end game !!
Loved it 👍
What a cool and calm game played by you! Congrats on the win and all the best for the next games :) nice recap!!
Love watching these recaps!!
Thank goodness for the post game analysis. I was going back and forth in the video trying to understand everything that was happening. What a great matchup, and a well played game.
props to her for not falling for it three times in a row with little time on the clock
YES!! So pumped for this recap! Thank you Eric, love your channel and your chess!
This is why your channel is awesome. What a cool attacking line. I felt like I was watching Tal!
Eric is a tactics wizard. Leaves alot of tension in the position with a ton of combinations. Love the way he plays chess. Very exciting!!!!
Raisin' Rosen's real life rating
That is an insane game!! Loved it from start to finish. Nice transparency for the viewers! Must have been an incredible feeling to actually play it yet terrifying at the same time :D Thanks for this very entertaining video :)
Really cool game. Thanks Eric, love the channel
Eric "Tal" Rosen embodying the spirit of "two kinds of sacrifices" in one game. What fun attacking chess!
AMAZING moves by both of you in so little time in the final 6 moves!!!
her Nb6, oh no my knight, was a move that still blows my mind watching the game a 3rd time. Incredible foresight.
Wow! What a game! You both played really well but Eric was on another level. Loved the huge queen tension there! Finding good moves is one thing but finding them so quickly and accurately in such a time pressure is very impressive. Hats off!
Dude she’s a great player! I love your games they are always so wild and intriguing

This was one of the coolest games I’ve gotten to see! Thank you so much for your content and sharing this! 😁
I love watching you playing, and all of explaining you give leads to much easier understanding and developing of the one skills. Thanks you
Amazing game, love positive vibes you bring everywhere i see you.
What an awesome game! I really like the new commentary over the live game style :D
I'm really enjoying this format of showing your games. Also, this was a great game to watch!
Incredible game. Anna is still young, she has good future ahead of her!
Fingers crossed she learns to smile and be polite. Eric is so incredibly polite and pleasant, it's a stark difference.
Besides a brilliancy prize, each tournament should have a prize, awarded to both players, for the most Just Damned Fun game! Seriously!
...there is something very comforting about watching an Eric Rosen recap video, but i just cant point my finger on it yet !
That game was AWESOME.
Love the attacking chess. 👍
Wow! What an intensely beautiful game! So many sacrifices!
This is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.
Amazing game! Well played!
What a fantastic game and voiceover. And great analysis as always!
Eric is too polite. 😆 Say oh no my queen next time. LOL
Lookin really filled out and strong Eric! Nice chess too!
Brilliant game, Eric! Your opponent fought really hard, as well. Wonderful stuff!
Eric....that game is beastly!... so at odds.with your mild mannered narration.... it needs a scandanavian death-metal soundack!
Great game! Voiceover of your own otb game with video is amazing!
Hall of fame type game, really fun to watch!
She fell into "Oh no, my Queen". that's gotta hurt
This is one of the best games I’ve ever seen.
What a game. Incredible!
Wow, outstanding game
Awesome game Eric!
That was awesome. Reminiscent of Mikhail Tal where the opponent often could’ve defended, but didn’t believe they could.
Exciting game! Loving these recaps.
She came up with some great moves also.
This was more complex than classic time Grandmaster games I’ve seen. Well done, both!
Amazing game by both players. I really like this format and presentation style too.
A true master game (especially given the time constraint). I look forward to Agamator's review. 😁
Dude for a second I thought this is the end of the hybrid format but then not only did it come back, it came back with a very interesting game. I just love these games that look so different. Makes for a lot of interesting choices.
I enjoy watching Rosen's games the most amongst all the chess content creators because he plays like how Gotham talks.
Very nice win!
Incredible sacrifices fron you and props to her for holding on that long
Awesome game! I love those tournament videos, it looks so surreal for me. I really gotta get into competetive chess.
Incredible game, both sides found fantastic resources under time pressure.
let’s gooo Eric great game!
Fantastic game, I am always sad when I see people lose because they never smile after the game they lose. Well done Eric.
Wow you weren’t kidding! What a treat of a game to watch
Holy McShizzle Eric, so much for watching your games right before going to sleep! 😰 Epic game bro! 👍🏻
Excellent stuff. And when you're facing off against a 'sit-upright, double flick pushing of hair behind each ear' type of opponent...you know it's going to be a battle! 😮
Man what a cool game. Kudos to your opponent. She fought like a beast.
What a wild game, esp in a tournament! Thanks for sharing gg
Let’s go Eric! Really nice game👍🏻
Jeez, to see all these is line is a skill I wish I will acquire one day. GG, Eric!
Such a fun game to watch, although it also looks super stressful to play from either side. Thanks for putting these games on lichess for us to study!
What a sharp game, fascinating!
wow that was such an amazing match. She played so incredibly well
That was an amazing game. You both played really well ❤
AWESOME game! Definitely what you watch blitz chess to see!
What a game ! Is this Eric's immortal ?
What an amazing game!
(and Eric Rosen perhaps sat thinking: "why there are so unfriendly people?")
Congratulations ! What a game
Crazy game, good job!
3:29 E5 is a common thematic break among aggressive Leningrad Dutch players.

Sickkkk game. Man she was pissed at the end lol
My favourite type of video, even when the game is less insane!
Great video👍
Amazing game! Great attacking chess in the style of the old masters
Fantastic game, especially given the time pressure both players were under.
Outstanding, you are great.
Nezhmedinov himself would be proud of this game. What an attack!
That's one crazy game!
Shoutout to guy from the last game hanging behind Anna's head
Great game for both
good game, I am watching your video and I improved in my chess, your are calm in your chess game.I try to understand what opponent next move because of your video. Thank you.
