@@pcb1962 That's because there is no "accident report" when the thing starts to fail, and you jump out of the bucket onto the roof near you--- or you jump into the tree that you're trimming and watch that thing tip over while you're hanging safely in the tree. Nothing gets reported, but these things happen in slow motion, and more often than someone getting hurt. I've witnessed this myself, with a trailer bucket. The thing blew a seal or something and just started to fall toward the ground, and my brother bailed out of the bucket onto our roof, since we were right next to the house, and that bucket fell all the way down and slamed into the tailgate of my truck. Nothing was reported, I just took it back and demanded a refund. If he would have been strapped in, it would have been ugly. That thing hit in a full free fall, and smashed half way through my tailgate. Just saying, in my experience-- I wouldn't want to be strapped in. I'm a tree climber, I ran my own crew for years--- I'd much rather be on a rope in the tree than in a bucket anyway.
@@calholli Anecdote isn't the singular of data. There are countless incident reports that support wearing a harness in bucket trucks, elevated platforms and the like.
Assuming proper maintenance, boom failures that would make bailing out a good option exceedingly rare. What will get you is the object you are working on, installing, removing, modifying will fall or move in such a way that will eject you from the bucket at height.

I knew the tree was going to fall on the crawler and I never saw this video before and then you would have to take the time to make the repairs and many times put off till later. At my age now I've only recently started listening to 2nd voice, and not the easier 1st voice, but believe me it's hard to do, but in the end, it also works out to be much better and easier!

Thats a cool machine with the boom lift. Now what would be even cooler is Andrew originally wanted a tracked dumper. So lets see if he could come up with a build project making a quick release system for the boom lift, so he could use it as a dumper when needed or the boom lift on different jobs and get 2 uses out of it. Thanks for the video, take care.
Love the little tracked bucket, it should definitely prove extremely useful. NOW FOR THE LECTURE: SAFETY!!! I know you normally demonstrate good safety practices, BUT THIS TIME YOU FAILED MISERABLY!!! You were working with a chain saw from a bucket, and there were times when you were cutting over your head. VERY DANGEROUS. So, let's see, what should you have done... Start with personal protective equipment: harness, (a professional sawyer was killed in Massachusetts last week! by a fall from a bucket) helmet (especially since you were cutting over your head - a no no), goggles, hearing protection, chain saw chaps and chain saw jacket. Good safety practices: as you learned (the hard way) never park the rig in the fall zone of the timber, always extend the bucket at least 12 to 15 feet from the unit, even further when possible; always keep the saw below shoulder level (to prevent kickbacks into your face) ; rope off EVERY segment before cutting it. FINALLY, never work timber from a bucket without a spotter. I very rarely comment on TH-cam videos, but I follow you, like you you, your channel and the content, so I felt it necessary to speak up. Safety is too important to stay silent about. Stay safe, Bruce
Andrew: *gets new piece of equipment* Also Andrew: *Proceeds to accidentally drop a tree on it that same day* Those are fun little machines. The railroad I currently work for rented a bucket truck as well as one with a dump body for us to remove overhanging tree limbs with, as well as to remove stacks of used railroad ties with. I liked it so much, that I just bought a Wacker Neuson DT15 (although this is miniature compared to the full size machine I used). I looked at a few like what you have, but I decided I needed one with a dump bed which could swivel.

I would love to see a video with all your equipment lined up and a quick talk through. You have recycled and modified what a lot of people would call junk, and you have a business out of it. Congratulations.
LOLOLOLOL... 6:26 "I was gonna move that"! This guy is awesome! Love watching all of his videos!
Haha couldn’t wait to see the comments , Seems like there’s as many tree experts as there are concrete/welding pros out there
Way cool but, PLEASE wear a harness, bounce out is a real hazard as is perfectly level at heights so as not to tip over, take care WHILE IN THE AIR.
meh.. those things are better off for you to be able to bail out if you need to. You don't want to be strapped to something that going down.
@@calholli That view doesn't seem to be supported by the evidence in the accident reports that I've seen
Andrew, your channel is getting more and more interesting as time goes by. Thanks for putting out such great, unfiltered content. Taking the time to hit the record button when you ain’t got to, but you teach so many young and old men to not be afraid to get the hands dirty. Bless you sir.
I'm 75 OY now and you remind me so much of myself when I was your age, one voice in my head would say, I should move that crawler the tree might fall on it, but then another other voice said Nah, you have this thing in total control no need to waste time moving that crawler lets get going.
Andrew vid to start off the morning 👍🏻
A vid to finish the night here 🙃
That thing is sweet! For sure a cool tool to have, the Isuzu diesel is a good one, buddy had one in a older skid loader and that thing always worked and made good power. Of course, it being an IHI, it'll last a long time and won't break!
Isuzu engines are serious. Have one in our Ex 120 dash 5 with over 33k hrs. Engine never touched. Very hungry for diesel tho. Old Isuzu engines making big money for export to middle eastern country’s
Get some double braided nylon rope. It's what we used in the service to hold our ships to the pier. Much stronger.
As I have commented before, your videos are always interesting and informative. You are a MacGyver in true fashion and is never worried to tackle a situation. Today's video says a lot about you in the fact you don't cover up" your errors. See ya soon!
That looks fun andrew, and it can only get better from now on .
They say "Nothing runs like a deere"...I say "Nothing runs like Cody" lol Cool rig there Andrew!
As Andrew would agree, nothing costs and breaks like a Deere
Ah the good ol' IHI 35 , we used to use these carriers as seismic drill rigs , they can take a beating
When Cody found the bone I thought this was going to turn into CSI Catskills.
You never seem to amaze me on what new peice of equipment you find!
The person who did the conversion work did a great job. Looks factory!
As someone who's uses this set up regularly, I'd recommend some 2'x3' wood or metal plates to go under the feet for equal ground distribution.
Andrew make some pads for the stabilizers to give you more safety when using it in the soft ground.
yeah.. and always point your vehicle in the direction that you are going to be booming out... I wouldn't fully boom out to the side on that thing, unless I was on concrete.
Ok
Welcome to another episode of “What not to do!” Staring Andrew Camarata.
classic case of arrested development ..
I liked how he was jumping up and down to reach a limb in the tree when he literally just bought a boom truck!! use it Andrew duuh.. 😆😆
My mother and I watch your videos all the time! We love your videos very much. We watch many of them many times. You are the man! We would both love to see a video of the enclosed castle upstairs. How it is set up now!
Love your videos Andrew
I was never so glad to see Levi turn up on all fours after Cody playing chasings with someone’s leg bone
Cody ain’t stopping for anyone :’)
MY BONE! 😈
I just wish I had his energy lol
"Hey Levi! What do you think of the new........ THING!" Haha, love the videos andrew!
Absolutely hilarious!
Hey AC, I hope yer make'n a minimum of $50K/yr
and hopefully $100K on yer vids. Specially with
the huge back catalogue you have.
This one already trudge'n toward half a million in a few days,
and some of yer old stuff in the tens of millions!
Seems like it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Agreed
Thats a cool machine with the boom lift. Now what would be even cooler is Andrew originally wanted a tracked dumper. So lets see if he could come up with a build project making a quick release system for the boom lift, so he could use it as a dumper when needed or the boom lift on different jobs and get 2 uses out of it. Thanks for the video, take care.
this is addictive bro , i was watching another vid for u
Love the little tracked bucket, it should definitely prove extremely useful.
NOW FOR THE LECTURE:
SAFETY!!!
Andrew's alot of things, one of those things is not a tree guy.
proves no one is truly a 'Jack of all Trades'
Andrew: *gets new piece of equipment*
Also Andrew: *Proceeds to accidentally drop a tree on it that same day*
Those are fun little machines.
Any Merchandise Andrew? Love to get my hands on a T-Shirt, your channel is the best on TH-cam, that’s coming from another TH-camr here in Ireland. Your a legend over here
"This thing is way too nice. Let me drop this tree on it so I can have something to fix."-probably AC.
Is he entertaining: yes
Is he a professional tree trimmer: no LoL
Is he dangerous: yes
Maybe not, but he delivers more in 1 year, than some in a lifetime.
Great guy, who never look for an excuse.
cmmon Andrew,you're jealous
Imagine if He actually took care of His stuff. That's a sign of youth. With a little more experience He would realize how much more stuff He could do with his time if He wasn't fixing things He neglected. It's both entertaining and sad.
@@williamdebow3478 What are you talking about lol he always buys used and beat up stuff and repairs it.
This is something I didn’t know I needed until now
isnt that how it always is lol
Well done for not editing out the bits that didn't go to plan. I like that about your videos .
That's the coolest little bucket truck I've ever seen. That for sure will come in handy this season!
Cody playing with the bone he found: :D
The murderer that hid a body in those woods: D:
Codys got a bone??!!! Youre not burying the bodies deep enough, andrew!
There's an old saying... "He who dies with the most toys, wins"... I think we know who's going to win.
neat new toy for the collection. looking forward to future jobs with this one
Hey Andrew great find, and always good to see old Levi out and about...
Those support legs has quite narrow reach, be careful... And place something like film faced plywood under the legs so they doesn't sink in the soil
Or even proper outrigger pads.
also pull your trousers down when it's time to go poopoo
Cody has old man Johnson's leg. He went missing almost 5 years ago.
6:48 *adds to the collection of dead wood stuck up in the air* "that's funny"
I agree, I cracked up when I saw it just come to rest up there
I had a 130hp Cummins offroad lift bucket with dump and crane back in '69. Had 3 tracks.
99ft working height. Dropped a 20k oak tree on it. Didn't even notice.
Still have it today. Runs better than ever
I like the way Andrew just repairs stuff and gets on with , a skill many younger people do not have 👍🏻 Great vids Andrew
That rope broke for no reason.
all rope is not created equal
If you'd hitched the tree higher up, the rope wouldn't have broken!
"Hey- I don't have one of those! And it's got treads like a tank?? SOLD!!" 😂
That thing is cool man! Whoever converted that did a nice job. I love that old Ford tractor too. That's my favorite of the Camarata fleet. 👍👍
I had two giant oak trees cut and the truck they used left huge ruts in my lawn I had to work to get somewhat out. Your machine won't leave ruts. You have yourself a perfect tree trimming/cutting machine.
