I had the same bike but mine had chrome fenders. Loved it ! I picked it up in Saigon in 2012 for like 4 million dong. Me and my brother in law restored it together.
Fascinating how limited tools can do this job. I have a full shop with ample Snap On tools and a full array of equipment and would be challenged to take this on. Truly a genuine mechanic with talents and a pallet to work on. Hats off to you my friend. -from Wisconsin USA
so happy to read Your comments and great to have no 1 tools that I’ve ever use too.. realy great to see this video.. the way he smoothening the in and exhaust valce the way he clean the engine surface, there’s no vapor blast sand blast etc, just fuel and some grinding and sanding machine.. Respect on You both 👏🏼
Hy guys, i'm from Brazil and I like soo much of the videos of engine restaurations. If u get a perfect engine assembly use blue lithium grease in the engine gaskets !
Você é um excelente mecânico, mas tenha cuidado com a sua saúde e use luvas para protegê-lo desses solventes utilizados na limpeza das peças mecânicas. Parabéns e um grande abraço desde o Brasil.
Multi purpose safety sandals are amazing. Good for grinding, working with chemicals, crush prevention and motorcycling; I need a pair. But, seriously, you’re a genius. I wonder what you could achieve in a fully equipped workshop....?
wow, i comment in your picture a few day ago about this bike. And today you upload this video. I have so much respect for you now. Please keep up the good work. Good luck
A lot of work related to cleaning, painting, necessary replacements. It is good to watch from the outside, but it is very concrete work in the yard. Best wishes :).
@@vhjvbhjb5280 - I have no idea what he is saying. I am simply speculating based on my knowledge gained from having rebuilt both types of engines. 4-strokes are inherently more complicated than 2- strokes but 4-strokes tend to have better fuel consumption due to not wasting fuel through the exhaust port and the engines generally last longer between rebuild/rebores. Everything has its optimum range of application.
Question: How did you get an ALUMINUM engine and transmission assembly so rusty? Aluminum don't rust. The only steel on that engine is the cylinders. Everything else - head, crank case/transmission ... is aluminum.
I had the same bike but mine had chrome fenders. Loved it ! I picked it up in Saigon in 2012 for like 4 million dong. Me and my brother in law restored it together.
Funny how all the aluminium parts had red rust on them.

Never ever saw a Honda SS50 engine like that, I suspect it is a Chinese 110-125CC engine with a Honda crankcase cover fitted.
Good job
Young man, you are a good mechanic. You breathed new life into that motor. Good job!
My father had a 68, which has the same features as the 67 except for the handle bar. Very cool, guys. Thanks for showing this.
Using sandpaper grit as grinding compound is genius.
Nope its stupid. Will definetly have the wrong grit and is to rough or fine. And he is lapping them incorrectly.
I had a step through one of those. It was good for about 35 MPH and got over 200 MPG. Perfect for a teen working at a Hospital in a Kitchen.

Wonderful attention to detail, truly a master of the most unnecessarily complex 50cc ever built. You go man!
JD L unnecessarily complex?
Whats unnecessary about it?
I guess you dont have an Answer...?
@@vhjvbhjb5280 - I guess its relative to a 2-stroke Yamaha FS1E
Jagshemasher so you mean he is saying all four stroke engines are unnecessarily complex?

I bought my SS40 new in 73 and I did 35,000 miles on it before I sold it and the only problem I had was a burnt out exhaust valve at 15,000 miles.
Parabéns companheiro

I eyerolled at that too. A rebuild minus fake rust would still be cool.
I would have thought that was scrap already. Good job!
