Was it truly necessary to put this add in the vid they way it was? As a funny punchline segway after a story that involves real people and real grief? Couldn't it be placed in the intro or outro? I'm not thrilled to buy anything that interferes so much with what I really came for here. I don't understand content creators who promote sponsors like this. Frankly i have enough of ads for the rest of a lifetime. Knock it off, or at least respect the viewers and your own art

Yea. From the looks of the photos the entire area appears to be covered in dense foliage and waist high brush. A body could be laying just a few meters from the main path and you'd never see it. I dont tend to buy into the foul play aspect of disappearances in the wilderness, because its often a case of ppl refusing to believe that the wilds are THAT capable of taking your life if you aren't careful.
Furthermore. If someone had been stalking him...why not call for help...or get video of the guy? A single pic that doesn't even clearly show the person is of little use. Far more likely that he lost footing somewhere up high and ended up on the slope buried beneath dense foliage

For the first photo, the golden rule is always best followed. NEVER EVER post on Facebook where you are going, only where you have been. I say this because the night before the kid posted his plans to hike up the Stairway to Heaven letting those with ill intentions know his plans. If he wanted to tell friends he could have used WhatsApp or private messengers. Sadly if not using the option to make posts private and his posts were public it meant that the person in his last photo probably decided to take advantage of the situation. It is why when on Facebook set any posts to private/friends only, never post where you are planning to go but only where you have been, and avoid adding those you do not know to your friends list. Because just like on hiking trails you always need to take proper precautions when using social media.

    Congrats on the 1M subs!
As for Maura's case: She said there was a family emergency, not a death; she was calling a Vermont resort line, IIRC, not trying to get an apartment; she hit a snowbank, not a tree; the school bus driver lived right by where the car was crashed, so he was returning home when he approached and talked to her; the bus driver knew immediately that she lied about making the call to AAA because cell service was bad to nonexistent up there (still is, from what I've heard). Also believe it was the woman across the street who reported the light in the car, and I think she thought it was someone lighting a cigarette, but in all likelihood probably was a flip phone light.
...I spent way too much time listening to the Missing Maura Murray podcast, lol...
I think she got spooked at the thought of getting caught drunk driving (particularly after the crash with her dad's car) and ran into the woods to evade the police... then got hurt, lost, or both. Sadly, I think it was probably death by misadventure; I feel so bad for her family. (I don't think the bus driver had anything to do with it.)

      @catherinephillips2262 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

She actually did say it was a death, at least that’s what her sister said in her podcast! Additionally all the information you have is generally sound, but she had shown signs of mental illness and being unwell for a year or two before she went missing, so I doubt she ran off due to being afraid of getting caught drunk driving. I think there is a chance she hurt herself or there were other suspects on the area her family are set on investigating

I think you're right. People unfamilar with the deep woods really tend to underestimate how hard it is to find a human body (or anything else) in that kind of terrain. And her body wouldn't have remained intact for long with the wildlife in that area.
And as for why she would do something so dangerous, alcohol is renowned for leading to foolish choices.
Quite possibly she ran through the woods until she got tired, then lay down to sleep it off and never woke up due to the cold.

The dad lacks remorse/human empathy as well it seems

I am born and raised in the area of the college Maura Murray attended.
It is common knowledge the nursing course at UMass Amherst is brutal.
Amherst is down the road from a North-South interstate highway. I sincerely believe Maura Murray had a mental break due to the stress of school, went for a drive, got lost in her own mind, and ended up going north straight up into New Hampshire. She crashed, then ran into the woods in an impaired mental state.
I believe with my whole chest she succumbed to the wilderness, and her remains have been scavenged by animals. One day a hunter will find her skull and dental records will identify her.

The Hawaiian stairs one is just a case of Pareidolia, our brain trying to seek human features in naturally occurring foliage, or smoke, or clouds etc. I believe it wasn't a person lying in wait (especially as the 'person' in the bushes is looking the wrong way), but that he simply had a serious fall or accident while climbing the trail.

I agree. I find it’s much more likely that an unfortunate accident happened like he fell while picking something up, or maybe he was trying to take a photo and tripped. People don’t understand just how dense the foliage is and how already dangerous the stairway was. I just do find it odd how his items weren’t found, like his body could have been food for wild animals if he took a fatal fall but his belonging? I’m sure it’s not a body though. It’s just a shadow with various branches and foliage making the human brain see a humanoid shape.

I'm glad I got to hike the stairway to heaven in 2014. It is definitely a dicey climb with alot of potential dangers, that I can confirm. Furthermore, there's definitely homeless / drug addicts that live within the brushes and you can hear them during the hike to the entrance of the stairs which can be unnerving. I was with my then gf hiking through at 2am to bypass security stationed at the entrance to deter people from climbing....I wouldn't doubt that he was A) Murdered or B) Willingly disappeared. There's no way he simply just fell off from the stairs and can't be found as the stairs are guarded with side rails and even if he fell, the thick mountain brush would catch him. He wouldn't be untraceable.

    • @WHI73LION

100%. That last photo he took, was not exactly a ‘hey, look how I have climbed’ type of photo right? It’s taken away from the best shot being the ‘staircase’ which would have captured how high he really was. Instead, he captured a photo completely off the rail, to the side of the mountain, showing a man who looks to have known he was spotted, and to see if anybody else was around whilst kneeling down. I believe that man in the photo ‘from the sounds of this story’ could have possibly been held captive, possibly raped and finally murdered. The screams heard from hikers asking for help may have been the time he was murdered shortly after. Very interesting story!!!

Congratulations on the MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!!! That’s amazing and you DESERVE it more than a lot of people on here!! I have LOVED your channel now for a while!!
I saw a comment that said that Bart’s dad forgiving him is “sus” and while it is something that seems unthinkable I have learned over the years that you don’t know how you would feel or do after experiencing something traumatic. I used to say a lot of things I’d do or say or whatever and when it happened I did NONE of it!! So whether it seems suspicious it really isn’t that hard to believe when it comes to a parent and their children-the love a parent has for their children is unbreakable (not always…) and with Bart being his only loved one left from that awful ordeal it’s not hard to see why his dad forgave him. And it’s not like he didn’t think he shouldn’t have been punished….he just had to forgive him because living a life with that sort of pain isn’t a good life to live! Sorry I had to say something about it and couldn’t find the actual comment (TH-cam scrolls through them now and I saw it pop up but couldn’t find it)

If that stairway has been closed off for 30 years that also means maintenance isn't being done either. Why the eff would you climb an outside, eroded, 30 year old stucture? At that point "stairway to heaven" starts to be a literal thing.
Makes me wonder why the stairway hasn't been torn down. On the other hand, you'd probably still get some people trying to climb the ridge but now absent the stairway, which is even more dangerous. Makes me think the authorities consider it being there is better than not having it there.

I LOVE that the video started immediately. No annoying introduction or 60 seconds of adding us to like or subscribe. Straight to the point.

for Maura’s case, if she went into the woods how have search teams and locals who know those woods have found her by now? Even that one hiker who went missing on the AT was found a few years later a mile or two from the main trail. And if you’re drunk you can’t get THAT far in the woods while it’s snowing.

The stairway to heaven story was answered. The man in the bushes came forward and they proved he did nothing wrong.

With that Maura Murray case, there was also that sick and lonely old man who was posting TH-cam videos alleging that he had her.a.. Mr112Dirtbag (I had to look it up, he's a POS not worth remembering), and police figured out who he was and came to the conclusion he just wanted to insert himself into the story. His video(s?) are still on TH-cam for some reason, and I can see why you left him out of your video. There was also someone who was communicating with two people searching for her (linked to her father, I believe) who were receiving coded messages and ended up with coordinates on the side of some mountain. They hiked out there with shovels and filmed it... it was off-trail, in the middle of the woods, but there was no sign of her having been buried near there. All of this comes from a very well made documentary that really gets into all of the details, times, people at the scene, witnesses, theories, everything that's happened. Her father is a main person in this doc and he's still searching. It's worth the watch if you haven't seen it and are drawn to Maura's story.

That second story must have been so awful for the father.
Not only did he lose his son and wife, but his other son, who was clearly guilty or suspicious of the murder of his family is just GONE. Never know when he'd pop up or if.
