So we've spent 5 years just to make seasonal characters, thanks, great move.

I don't think you have to do that, more that it is an option now. Could be okay, but two things. 1, need to be allowed to use mains if you want anyway, and 2, the way that progress/effort on a seasonal character will need to be *meaningful* for when it carries back to the main. I have my fingers crossed on this one, but yes, a lot of other games have tried and failed on this one, so has me concerned...
Might as well just tell us tat our main will be wiped. You start all over again. So at this point at least a few of us can just quit.

This is a masterclass in how to further kill your game's player base.
Waving the ban hammer and rolling back the players banned by three weeks was pretty darn effective at making sure theyll never get return business from those customers ever again. I know heaps of people that swore they would never come back and never buy another product from Massive again, and they havent. They moved on to other games.

This approach of a new character every season does not make sense for Division 2. Sure, it works for other games, but for the division, nah.
If it comes to the cost of a having a new experience that has a really interesting new gameplay, then I'm happy

@@MemoriesLP Amost 3k hours in The Division 2, actually very excited for seasonal characters and that we all will be starting back at level 1 each season. Keeps the grind alive, DZs a blood bath for gear again, as well as an actual purpose to going into the open world completing missions/activites etc.

So, you’re adding seasons characters that start at the beginning and reset the next season? Like a wipe? If this if forced and if I can’t play my main guy then I’m out. Can’t even play the extra stuff since I’m solo. This ain’t an extraction shooter man. You guys cancelled that.
lol no they didn't try to be an extraction shooter. They already have Dark Zone. What they are trying to do is having similar system to Diablo 4. Which worked for them and create a great engagement metric.

Basically come season 2! In order to play any seasonal content and unlock battle pass progression, you will have to leave your main character behind and make a new character in that season to start all over again from scratch, then when that season ends you do it all over again. It's a lazy recycling technique to "keep" players playing long term. But in reality it's a stupid lazy decision and effects everyone who plays the game, and not everyone has the time to keep doing the same stuff all the time

You can do that without issue. I didnt even know there were seasonal characters and I'm already halfway through the manhunt.
@bangyahead1 it starts in Y6S2. What you're doing now is Y6S1. Starting next season, you will not be able to use your main character to run seasonal content or participate in the seasonal pass, you'll have to make a new character (which I will not do).
You just don't do this to a 6 year old game with so many players having such huge time investments already. I don't care that I can use my main after the season, it's a short lull and there isn't a point to that, because Id already done it with the character I was forced to make.
This change hasn't been the point of the game (long term investment, build refining, conquering highest difficulty) and since they'll likely stick to this and implement it in div3, I'm just walking away. I don't like like d3/4, POE, or any game that does this. They turned a game that was practically made for my gaming style and trashed it to sell us time savers, and boost their daily engagement metric (which 2 seasons ago they were agaisnt). I'm sure the suits came up with this, just look what they're doing with RB6. Game industry keeps wondering why people are sticking to older games... it's things like this imo.
The game has been out 6 years it needs to attract new players and the best way is to create a level playing field.I didn’t like the idea of seasonal characters in d4 but I have absolutely loved season 4. The content now is so easy with our expertise it’s just not a challenge.the fun of these games is the levelling system my characters are all maxed out I have nothing to grind for anymore. At least the game will be challenging again with some seasonal story line to play through.

If you're that bored with the game play loop, then starting over to do the same thing, isn't going to do it for you (you could have started over each past season if you chose to or played with bad gear for the "challenge" but you didn't because that sucks). If you think we are getting anything but the same senseless 0 to 40 grind then grinding the season with an underpowered character and a constant seasonal global event like SHD exposed, then you're high.
it's not what a lot of us want. D4 is trash imo, but the seasonal aspect has been a part of that game from D3 years and is expected in those games. I specifically play Division because it doesn't do that.
We needed more DLCs and areas, not decent for all. Wish they would have stuck to the life support plan and walked away. But as I've said before, at least they're showing their Div3 plans and that has already saved me money.
I believe that dislikes have already spoken for themselves. As a Div vet, I DO NOT want this to be introduced into the game. I want to discuss the seasonal characters.
Until the season ends, the main character will not be able to access any new seasonal content or gear. Whenever a season ends, there is a new one. What is the appropriate course of action for the primary character? Is it correct to assume that you will not be playing a primary due to your desire to participate in the seasonal content? And since your main cannot have or participate, what is the purpose of the main then? Only to be a stash at the end of every season?
I would understand if this system was implemented since the beginning, but 5 years after... Also, the same skills, same specialization, no variety, and no classes unlike in PoE (Path of Exile) or any other RPG where you have a bunch of stuff to experiment with. This is a Looter Shooter game ffs
Yes, your gear and characters are accessible. You arent forced to make a new character to do the manhunt. If you wish to do so, the option is there but it is not forced upon you.

They say that some activities are only for seasonal character. So i've played 500h with my character, grinding, getting exotic, and now i can basically forget about him, because i will be forced to play each new season with new character? Dude not to mention the inventory management is an annoying part of the game already imagine dealing with moving and managing seasonal characters items and gear and potentially losing things.

We've been playing since 2019, leveling up our character, improving equipment... for nothing in the end. =/
While I understand it sucks for us current players in the short term, I strongly believe it will significantly improve player experience over future seasons.
I bet some one up high plays Diablo and said to himself “you know what will make the division 2 better? seasonal characters” they do everything they think it’s trending and popular never what the fans are asking for.
They have been trying and failing to balance content around players with thousands of shd. There is no way in hell I will do this.
@@markhettenbach3141 yeah me either, I was hoping to come back to it at some point but seeing this now I really doubt it. It’s a big hassle to have to regrind characters every single season you leave something like that for games that you periodically play.
I see this getting extremely exhausting for a lot of players that don’t no life this game plus what will even be the purpose of all your progress to move to your main at the end of each season? There won’t be a point in that unless we have to use the character at some point but without new content for the main characters there’s really no point in moving all the progress you have made to your main like they say, there’s so many issues with this that should be clarified more.

You won't be able to do the season content with your main. So the manhunts are most definitely out. I'm not sure if/which other events typically included with seasons won't be accessible to your main but there may be more.

One of the best things about The Division 2 was that seasons aren't like a standart arpg seasons with "we tell you when to start a new char and we tell you when to abandon it". With Season 2.0 this will no longer be a thing. That's so sad and I'm seriously thinking if I should uninstall it for good or not yet... Guys, you just killed the game for a lot of people and you're out of touch with your playerbase.

It's a great move all around. Levels the playing field for veterans and new players. We're all starting fresh and have to grind and loot gear again. Great move for long term game health.

So i grinded my character sunce day 1 to 1800 plus now i have to have seasonal characters. If thats optional then cool but i refuse to have to be forced. Second im a solo player so the master level ending for 4 players isn't what i signed up for.
I'm predominantly a solo player as well. I do have a few friends that play Division 2 but only one of them has actually finished the main story, they've still gotta get to World Tier 5 and also none of my friends that have division 2 have got Warlords of NY so them being able to get to level 40 is a blessing as they don't need to do that.
Is the 1800+ level you are the SHD level? If so I think I'm about somewhere between 30-45. Also apologies for the long reply

I think that everyone playing warlords is great. But the seasonal characters isn't right. It feels forced. I've got 1700 hours invested. I'm really hoping it's optional.
Seasonal Characters are optional. Your main character will continue to exist at the same level that they were going into the new season. They only exist if you wish to progress the Seasonal Story missions. Your main character will continue to have access and the ability to play all the other content you can up until this point, just you won't be able to progress the seasonal story with them.

What is the obsession game devs have with restarting characters? This is an awful concept from the early days of PC gaming that should have died with Diablo long ago. No one wants to remake ffs. There is no reason whatsoever that we can't just import our existing characters into the "season".
You dont even have to import, just play an old character like I am.
This is abosuletly bananas. Why would you allow gamers/ fans who invested time/ effort who level up their Main Characters and setup their builds just to let them suffer for an optional seasonal character? That's the point of the game, RIGHT? Create and improve your character so it can make your life easier when you play the game. Quality of life man... Come on DEVS.... This is a looter shooter game with elements of RPG level up mechanics and gear system.. We want to feel strong! Just fixed the on-going bugs, disconnection and add more maps/ expansion. No need to do some experiments about progression, end game, etc. We just want to play the game with more maps. If you guys lacked fresh ideas, or no longer have any financial support from Ubisoft then just say it to the fans. Be honest and let's call it quits. Leave the game as it is and move forward, not a step backwards.

nah. Best decision they could've done. 3k hours in the game and actually looking forward to seasonal characters. Over the years I've heard far too much complaining from new players about how far behind they are in level and gear. Season characters gives the game a fresh start with each season, forcing us to grind and loot for gear again.
Division 2 is not an arpg. Just stop.

Seasonal characters? Nah I’m good. Why did I spend all my time leveling my main, optimizing builds, etc just to use a fresh character every season? Guess I’ll give First Descendant a try. After 1,000+ hours the Div 2 can kick rocks.

So you’re forcing people to regrind for this season. Creating a new character is pointless and unnecessary because you don’t want experienced players to breeze through the new content.
So I'm not familiar with this model. Does the seasonal character mean I can't use my main characters weapons? Which means I'd have to redo the raid every single season in order to use the raid weapons?
The way it works in other games that do this is your seasonal character starts the entire game fresh and you have nothing except potentially skill points and other things that help improve your character. (Think shd levels and the kind of stat bumps they give) while this new character you start doesn’t play the main games story but instead plays a story specific to the season and starts leveling and acquiring gear. This works in other games because the progression of leveling and unlocking gear is heavily sped up so that you get to whatever new events are in the end game that tie into the season. No idea how this is going to work in the division since this game has been out for 5 years and not been designed around this kind of system unlike other games

I'm all for more build variety but it took months on months for me to get my desired build setups so a seasonal model just seems like a dead end. Hopefully they decide to change it or maybe lock your og character until you get to level 40 or something
I sure do hope seasonal character doesn´t mean that i have to start again from zero and level up again from 1 to 40, including finishing all missions just to get access to end game content.

You'll probably still be able to play on the Standard servers. Ladder season characters will be a server where you start over from the beginning...
No dev cares what happens to your character, your time and money spent on it. Obviously
This "new" season is just a middle finger to us from the devs. Every season, they at least somewhat redid the missions, but this season they copy pasted the exact same mission from the main story. DUA mission is exactly the same as it was in the main story, they didn't even change any dialogues from allies or enemies, even the bosses we killed in main story are alive again in this new seasonal story as if we never killed them or they are resurrected somehow.
They keep milking this game and the player base that it's bleeding now, the "drip feed" method they use every season is another middle finger to us. For 6 months they only give us 1 exotic weapon, 1 exotic gear, 1 gear set, 1 brand set and remodeled weapons and no new content at all again and again, they haven't even introduced any new weapon other than exotics in the game since the DLC. Guns with new perks aren't new guns they are remodeled milked content.
I am getting sick of this drip feed method. Look at how Destiny 2 and other live services handle their seasons, they introduce new content, new guns and new something, but what these devs do is keep feeding us the same old content over and over and whats even more stupid is that most player base doesn'd seem to notice and they appreciate them for this.
People say "if your arent goint to appreciate what devs are doing, how are they going to give us new content". Look at where we are now, they have started copy pasting content as it is and call it "new". What people doesn't seem to notice is that they are exploiting this game and the player base but people are with their eyes closed taking all their BS unfiltered and praising them for this. Its been 2 seasons and there is not even a single new incursion since the first one.
What shows that devs dont care about this game is the map, the map UI looks like so childish with nothing organised and all the places are floating on circles all over the place, creating this clutter which looks even more hideous

There are people who are loyal to the game and defend the developers, but now they force people to have "season" characters? Are the developers mentally challenged? This is the quickest way to lose the players
No, no, no! That was one of the main arguments for me why i like TD2 soooo much more than D4. I liked that it was a continuous journey that you had with your main char. I can not understate how much (and i know its a very strong word) I HATE this change.
If we are getting the gear from our seasonal characters to our legacy character, hate to call it that, I hope you have improved the Gear Box or have a separate place where that gear comes from. Because my inventory is already overflowing. I have enough to outfit eight characters and still have gear in my box left. If feedback is anything to go by, this is going to be a big issue.
Enhancing Endgame Content
The new content could have been so much better if it focused on what players truly want. Here are some ideas:
New Raids and Strongholds: Introduce new raids or strongholds with "heroic," "legendary," and "master" difficulties. This would allow us to use the builds we've spent hours and years perfecting, providing a real challenge to test ourselves and our groups.
Leaderboard System: Adding a leaderboard system for these new challenges would give players a way to showcase their achievements to friends and new players, fostering a sense of competition and accomplishment.
Dynamic Open World with PvP: Imagine if, while doing control points, you had the option to enable or disable a feature where other players could hunt you down, similar to rogue agents but with real players. This would spice up open-world content, especially for PvP enthusiasts, making the world feel more dangerous and thrilling. It's akin to the invasion mode in Sniper Elite 5, where real players can disrupt your campaign.
By focusing on these kinds of updates, the game could offer more engaging and long-lasting content, ensuring that the time we invest in perfecting our builds is truly worthwhile.
Will my main agent be able to play the manhunt stories?
If forced seasonal characters become a thing then my Division 2 days will probably be done. Haven't spent 1300 hrs on my main to be forced to play a different character.
Ok so you are completely lost guys... you have no idea of what players want and it seems like you don't listen to us... If your goal is to destroy the game and the community, don't change anything...
I’m here for it! Honestly excited to experience leveling again without it sorta just being a waste of time. Grateful it rolls back into my main! Also really curious what is coming for character customization!
L'idée d'avoir un perso de saison sous couvert de dire :"Tu peux test un build ....", tu peux déjà le faire. J'espère que le coffre sera augmenté car c'est cela qui limite les essais de gameplay. 300 slots tout type d'équipement confondu.... Alors qu'il y a beaucoup de nouveaux sets .... Parfois votre logique m'échappe.... Malgré tout je suis très content que The Division 2 continue. Cela reste pour ma part le meilleur TPS, à l'annonce du 3 j'ai pleuré.
@Ubisoft, i was given Division 1 by my youngest daughter's ex-boyfriend. Played it for about a year then som friends got me into Div 2. I've been playing for a year and a half now. I seriously enjoy the franchise and stream both on my channel. I see it as a training simulator. It reminds me of my Army days.
Guess its time for me to become a Rogue Agent. Because I'd rather do that with my main character, than start with a seasonal character for each season. I get it, the devs want to do something new, but this is not it.

Make our agent go rogue and give us the inside look of what being a rogue agent feels like. If that were to happen, we'd be working with Keener, ANNA would become our ISAC, we would be working with Kelso again. We would be able to do new missions as a Rogue Agent. There's a LOT of possibilities if we go rogue.
Seasonal characters work in ARPGs like PoE and Diablo pretty well but I'm not sure how to make it properly work in a game like this. Willing to see what they're cooking, but definitely afraid of the dish being burned

Are you REALLY going to implement a system that failed on multiple games? Seasonal characters? How silly is this? Please, someone at Ubisoft, READ THESE COMMENTS! Everyone is telling you right now this is a bad idea. The rest of the stuff sounds great and interesting. It really does. But this....this will kill the existing player base. It's such a terrible idea.
I know we do not lose our mains. But, I want to PLAY my main on the seasonal content just as I have for years. It's fun to use my character on those tasks. Bad idea. Bad move.
As someone who plays alot of PoE and Diablo, I think seasonal resets are great because they work in those games, this is not that kind of game.

So what about control points? I spent around an hour and a half re-capturing all of them last night only to hop on the game today, and they all be re-captured by the enemy. Is this a part of the new update as well?

I, who have 158 days playing the division 2 with all my items in my chest, will have to start from scratch because the company now wants to change the default way of playing and all the hours I dedicated to getting all my equipment certainly won't It's worth playing every hunt every event in the game and I'm at level 40 I'm going to have to go back to level 01 it doesn't make sense it was very good the way it was they could create new map expansions
Oh so the seasonal thing merges with your main character and you’re not forced to only have seasonal characters. That isn’t bad at all then. I think they should have communicated that better

You aren't forced to only have seasonal characters, but you *are* forced to make new seasonal characters if you want to play any of the seasonal or manhunt content.

I think a large portion of div 2 players are middle aged. We only play a few hours a week. This seasonal character stuff will just drive veteran players away. Why mess with your loyal players
This cool and all but why didn't yall support wildlands and breakpoint like this? So much potential in those two games.
Because they didn't have the player retention The Division 2 has.
At the end of a season all our new stuff merges with our main character and we add the seasonal character to our roster. My question is what content and reasons will we still have to play our main characters? Will there be things to do for them so our characters that have existed for years still have meaning? If they can answer yes to that then I'm willing to give this a shot.
I do play D4 and have lots of fun there so I won't rule this out right away, but wow this is a big change.

Honestly, before they revealed this in the manhunt, I thought this game couldn't get any cheesier. Yikes! 🤦🏻♂
Did you miss this? In the last manhunt, they explained that we only thought we killed Keener on Liberty Island, but that he deceived our watches into thinking he was dead. We never physically checked for a pulse. Faye is also still alive, and Kelso has turned rogue as well. Or has she? Is Faye really a rogue or just a double agent trying to bring Keener down? It will be interesting to see the convoluted dynamics of how this all plays out in the end. Watch out for the Hunters!

Im new to this game compared to other players. I beat the story mode in division 1 back around Christmas. Was taking a break before division 2. Looks like ots time!

For years I've grinded repetitive content, and paid for seasonal gear and weapons to share amongst my 4 characters.
Not sure I understand this, but what's the point of grinding all this loot if I can't use the loot during the next seasonal events...like we did in the past seasons?
Will I be losing any of my characters and the loot within their inventories?
Should I stop grinding for loot because the loot may be deleted with one of my characters? What's the point of grinding for the best loot if I can't use it in the future season's events?

Iv gotten hard back into division 2 and it's so fantastic, I'm lost as hell but still so fantastic
I don't understand how the new character is added to the existing roster. Will I get a new character slot each season, even if I already have 4 characters? Will I be able to have like 8 characters at some point?
This idea will be your titanic, it seems like a good thing but it will crack and sink, are you sure this path is good?
Dont kniw why this is so hard to comprehend but the progression and xp earned on the seasonal characters goes to your main character and you get to keep the seasonal character at the end of the season, dont know if i like that. But each season I'm guessing you can pick a character with a certain archetype and you can complete weekly manhunts and other things exclusively with the seasonal character. Everything with your mains still exist and can be played anytime throughout the seasons. All this while waiting for kenner to get his butt kicked again. That what i got from this after going back and watching it again since its very vague
