Thinking of buying a 19 with 65k miles for 45k. Debating about pulling the trigger because I originally had a single cab 5.0 with added supercharger in mind and was planning on building it with off road being the focus. What do you think?
I should clarify is it auto down or auto up as well. I know the 18 I test drove had the auto open on the fob but looking for the auto close feature as well
On the bright side, things could’ve been much worse. But, real talk this is why I prefer built over bought. Buying is satisfying and fulfilling but in my opinion it never truly feels like it’s mine until I’ve customized SOMETHING, plus there is always a huge gamble that you’re purchasing a money pit.
I use a touch on my 18 black raptor. It does scratch the clear coat a little and you can see it wearing the edges of my decals a bit. But it gets the truck really clean and keeps the salt off including the underside. If I have to I will replace the decals eventually but they still look fine.
I'm planning on driving a few hours as well to purchase a used raptor that is at a Honda dealership. I plan on taking it to my local ford for warranty stuff. How much is the warranty you have and do you make payments or have to pay it all up front?
@@texfishindude7142 ya you can. Dont let them talk you out of the Ford one. They might try to upsale a 3rd party they offer. You can purchase online from Granger, Lombard, Ziegler, Flood Ford
The automatic car washes I've tried wouldn't let me go through, said the Raptor was too wide for the tracks so I have been going to a stationary touchless or doing it old school. Is your drive-thru a chain of hometown company??
When I went through Mister Car Wash (it's a chain) If there wasn't a roller under the front and rear tire of my truck it would sometimes not go so I changed to The shine shop (owned by rocket car wash) Their car wash works but I tell them to turn the tire shine off and even when they do my passenger side still gets tire shine because the width of my truck still hits it and they claim that's is wide as it goes.
can you get a warranty at any time (on a truck that currently doesnt have one) or do you have to get it before a previous warranty expires? if that makes sense
Check and make sure all interior/exterior lights work, my tranny can shift a little hard in sport mode (seems like it’s when I first initially put it into sport mode) I’ve heard it’s because of the learning transmission and either getting dealer to reset it or getting a tune fixes it. Check the leaf springs, if they are flat and not curved they need replaced. Also since cam phasers is pretty much a widely known issue listen to the cold start. I looked at another raptor that in the carfax it said it had engine work done. I called the shop listed and gave them the vin and they told me they had done a full timing job so be on the lookout for that. Auto check report claimed my truck as a one owner, but carfax showed it to a 2 owner. Also if it’s has a moonroof check that it functions smoothly. I’d just make sure to get the ESP warranty I made a separate video on that.
Hey I actually just purchased a gen 2 raptor as well! I also did not get mine at a ford dealership so I did not buy a warranty. I’m curious how much was the warranty from Grainger ford? Did they give you different year and mileage options such as 3 years 36,000 miles, 5 years 60,000 etc. or no. When you were warranty shopping, did you notice any major differences between what other dealers were offering? Stuff like what the warranty covers and doesn’t cover? I know cost would be a big one to consider, if it’s a legit ford warranty or third party? Thanks I appreciate your time!
Yes they will give you multiple year and mileage options. Most places online were pretty similar in price. Any ford dealer should be able to sell you the Ford ESP Premium warranty and their all the same. It’s a legit Ford warranty just like what a car comes with factory. I paid $2200 for 48 months/48k miles and added the lighting option for $120.
My raptor 2020 has been sitting at the Ford dealer, since this August, fuel injector stayed open wash down cylinder number four now his needs a new engine extended warranty does not want to pay for it $15,509.55. FYI and my truck only has 15,000 miles on it.
@ just got my truck back about two days ago now I’m dealing with the lawyers. I’m trying to get my money back. Now one of the TPMS is bad and the heater strip on my driver side seat, doesn’t work. and the truck has been babied.
I plan on getting a 2019 or 2020 raptor under 70k miles for around $48,000 is that a good place to start? It has been my dream truck for a long time and I dont like the gen 3 as much as the gen 2.

It was probably ignorance OR the tech not caring when they did the inspection rather than the dealer trying to hose you. I have trust issues with dealers because I was a benz tech and saw many hacks and crooks. Not all, but it only takes a few in a dealer with 50 techs to give a few people a bad experience. I'm not a huge union guy but surprised more dealers arent unionized in their shops.
I actually wanted them to not find anything just because I wanted to get that stuff covered under warranty, but also makes you think what if a normal person was buying a used vehicle and had them inspect and was told its good, but a lot of it has to do with the tech who checks it as well.
Bought a 23 out of state because the greedy bastards in California wanted 10k over at the time of purchase. Its been probably the best most enjoyable truck I've ever owned. If I have to road trip , the Raptor is my choice. Even over my 2021 Carrera S. Only issue I can complain about is the Apple CarPlay . It sucks. But it sucks in my other vehicles as well, so obviously not Raptor specific. Ecoboost is fine for me , because mainly I refuse to pay 20k over for any vehicle., much less a Raptor R. Well, I might think about the 20k over on a GTR Nismo, but probably not. Cheers.
Great information, same thing happened to me with my Gen 1 checked out entire Raptor 2 weeks later I noticed my passenger rear window would only work from drivers console. Thank goodness it was under warranty. Keep up the awesome videos!
