    Isn’t Mora in the middle of Finnskogarna forested areas in Sweden where lots of Finns moved during 16th century?

    Your house looks so beautiful.
    I love the very traditional look of the Finnish knives.

    Its funny how people say Mora very affordable. When in truth they aren’t cheap anymore. Yes they have a few models but many others have better. I’ll give a example BPS gives you a beautiful leather sheath and a full tang knife. Most are around the same or cheaper then most Mora.
    The new Mora are absolutely ridiculous, but what gets me is the marketing. They claim to have handmade knives in a fully automated shop. Then they try the green game with recycled steel. To me they are nothing but marketing that doesn’t listen to its clients, in my opinion they think we are just idiots that will buy anything they call bushcarft.
    I’m happy with my BPS adventurer and Hultafor Ok4. I have a Garberg I do like it but I’m not a fan of the sheath. An the leather sheath isn’t made for lefties.
    Well that’s my rant. I really like that birch bark with real leather sheath puuko. I was raised every real outdoorsmen used a puuko. They weren’t very easy to get when I was young.
    I’m thinking about just ordering a blade and making my own. I’m just not sure what is the best size. Seems 95 would be the most useful. What length do you find more useful for camping and such?

      Yeah, Mora is reeeally starting push it with the pricing. The new Ash wood ones are insane.
      The PBS Knives are really interesting, im planing a review of them in near future.
      Interesting that you were also raised to use Puukkos, That was definitely the case with me.
      Would say the 95 just hits the sweetspot, could a bit longer, not too much shorter for my taste. Of all the puukkos Iˋve used in my life starting from the early 90s, would say the 95 is the most used one. Thanx for watching!

    Great video!
    I am surprised, because I have a lot to say about this comparison.
    The Eräpuu is by far my 'winner'. Sheath, higher 'scandi' grind, birch bark handle... No comparison in my opinion. It's like comparing apples to oranges in my mind.
    Also... Mora is in the doghouse right now with me. Their expensive ash handled knives go against all that makes them great. Everything you said about mora doesn't apply (in my opinion) to these new knives, and that makes me really sad and upset.😞

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me also the Eräpuu at the end wins here. I love Mora, but I agree with you totally, these Ash knives are ridicilously priced, not the way Mora definitely should go, they are betray8ng their image. In general I dont like the price hike they have been doing on all their knives. Before this video was actually thinking of doing a video with title: ˋMora I love you, but you can do better!´
      But maybe I should actually get/or test one of these Ash things before…
      Thanx for watching!

      @@OldForestBushcraft That sums up my feelings perfectly: "Mora, I love you, but you can do better!" Brilliant idea!
      Just be prepared for lots of hate. I've commented on the Mora thing a few places and the people attack like sharks! And that's even after I tell everyone I'm a HUGE Mora fan! They don't seem to understand how you can be disappointed in something/someone and not hate them! Lol!
      Good luck!

      I fully agree with you on the ash-handle Mora's - it's on purpose, they chose overmolded handles for their regular knives, because in cold winter conditions you don't have to touch the steel and get stuck to it. With the full-tang, ash-scales new series you need to wear gloves to avoid that. IMHO they completely aim for U.S. customers, who believe, a knife MUST be full-tang and around 200$ to be any good.

      @OldForestBushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mannihh5274 The US market really could be their aim. I can assure you that nobody will buy them here in Finland😂

    I have been using Helle and Mora for yrs and recently discovered Finnish knives.They have become some of my go to woods companions.Helle has beautiful knives but functional while Moras our work horses.The Finnish ones have a more traditonal and connected cultural feel about them.

    I have Mora classic 3 and Mora classic laminate, the sheath in the first one (plastic), the one in the second one (leather) is great. But for the forest, my favorite is Peltonen 95.

    What about Fallkniven knives ? Are they in complete different category ? Do you own any Fallkniven knife ? If yes ( or no) why you never mention them? It seems, some folks love them, some hate. I personally can not make my mind. Can you say something about them ?

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ ve tested few (F1 I liked) but never owned one. They do good knives for sure, a bit thick, do love full height convex geometry. Still do find them to be a bit overpriced. Also the sheats are not optimal, for me at least. But yeah still good knives for sure, and what do I know anyways… Thanx for watching!
