I took information out of the item lore.
That's because most dragon bosses are not true dragons but rather descendents or corruptions.
As for the Black Knights, they are the Silver Knights after a burning that I think has a discrepancy. I think item descriptions mention the reason as the Chaos Flame of the Demons in one and the lighting of the First Kiln in the other. Silver should be fine then, as that was the original.

Midir's laser attack in his second phase is excessive, to say the least. In the first phase, it's a threat, in the second, it's room clearing unless you happen to be in the right spot and get lucky. And depending on your luck, Midir might spam the laser and just destroy you.

[cN]GodOfCharizardz god no. Midir is harder than Gael by a mile and a half. Of all the fights in dark souls that have made me rage. I’ve never called one outright unfair except for midir. He is legitimately unfair and is the true final boss of the series. Gael is awesome but his overall difficulty does not even compare to the level of mental prepwork and leveling you need for midir. The people who manage him SL:1 with no armor no dodge rolling and only fists, are God incarnate for beating this boss.
The Iconian Cat - Midir honestly does not strike me as an unfair fight. He is challenging, impressive, visually stunning, wonderfully executed from hitboxes to ai to his attacks etc. I'm probably singing his praise a bit more than I should. Regardless, after he kicked my ass several times in a row(on my NG+9ish only character) I simply got better at reading his attacks, understanding his weaknesses, minding my spacing, and developing my tactics. Ever since The Ringed City was released, I've beaten Midir upwards of a dozen times(both solo and coop), with little difficulty beyond my first encounter, and I don't have to change my stats or my equipment(beyond picking a decent weapon to consistently hit his head for reasonable damage). I even very recently made a new character after having dropped the game for several months, and managed to beat Midir at about SL:103, again without changing any significant stats or equipment around.
Forgive me for pulling these numbers more or less out of my ass, but, it seems to me that about every 9/10 attacks Midir throws out are very well telegraphed. His enraged attack is always the same animation, fire is always the same, claws are easy to mind, it always ends in the 180 spin with the tail smacking anyone in it's way(stay unlocked to make it easier to pay attention to); then he's open for head strikes. He has the double swipe that is easily read and avoided, just dodge through them when he swings; then get some head hits in. When he stands up to breathe fire beneath him, run far away, it's much easier to avoid when you run away from him rather than running under his legs; then when it starts to end charge back up close for a quick running attack to the head. He can fly up and prepare a big moving wall of flames that comes at you(tbh it hits me almost every time, but it never kills me). His grab is obvious, and then leaves his head vulnerable. When he breathes flames straight out, it's easily avoided, charge in from the side for free hits. When he brings flames sweeping in from his far right, dodge straight through the fire and charge in close for free hits. If Midir tries to realign his straightforward breath attacks, it's very obvious and easy to dodge. When he starts slamming violently I know a few possibilities are coming: he either full combos(keep dodging his attacks as you move back and then get good spacing for free hits when his head comes rushing down at you), or he'll half combo(just get some distance and wait for his next attack), or he'll follow up a half combo with fire beneath him(get MORE distance and again, wait). His tail whip is telegraphed. His charge is telegraphed. His laser starts as a very unique flame attack, so you know it's coming; the laser comes straight up the middle first, so pick a side and run/dodge, as you close the gap between you and Midir; now just dodge the second take and run in close for free hits on his head.
The start of his second phase is very clear, and not very wide of an attack; it's easy to get several hits on his head in, run and dodge out, then go back in quickly and get more hits in immediately(it usually makes him perform the explosion twice as well, which means you get to rinse and repeat for more free hits). The affinity are easy to avoid and you literally see them coming. He tends to enrage twice in a row during second phase. The only truly problematic attack is his phase 2 laser, but I think that's fine(it's fuckin beautiful, it's a blood pumping moment, it's one of few unfair moves that he doesn't even use very often, and he is VERY open after it ends, which rewards survival with a chance to heal, and rewards perfect evasion with free damage) and besides, if you're good a dodging and you keep rushing to Midir's side, you'll be fine so long as you don't stand directly beneath him.
Midir is a beautiful boss, a satisfying challenge, a fair fight, with a badass design, cool attacks, unique arena...
also that MUSIC MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
He's practically the most genuine d r a g o n f i g h t in all of dark souls, and i think that's a great way to make use of everything they've learned about making dragon fights as they cap off the series. Capitalizing on all the best parts from past fights and refining them incredibly well.

Cause he has a bunch of moved that punish you for being under him with no way to see them coming since your camera goes to shit trying to keep you seeing straight.

I think the only possible reason is that he is supposed to use the sunlight spear on dragons that have low lightning defense.. So it does not make sense to use it against human while he has his own melee weapon!! (since they created the lightning, from the beginning, to counter the dragons )
Still, he could inflict a good damage to the players if he used it though..

Hehe don't even get me started on NG+7. Literally one shots every amount of vigor and usually double hits through tears of denial. Just stay close to him at all times during the second phase and he won't do it. That's how I beat him.
Vigor and vitality are switched in some languages like Italian
+Justice of Velka Trust me, it's pretty much always a oneshot. I know people on NG, with 40 vitality and Havel's shield still get killed by a single shot.

cannot for the life of me beat this dragon. Time to level up faith.
Try staying in front of him and going for head shots when he is open, going underneath him(hitting his legs or tail) will leave you more vulnerable to fire attacks and bad camera angles. Also stay close so that you can get behind him for the laser attack in phase 2.
ty for the advice. I have trouble understanding the exact timing of my dodges, and also escaping his fire. Even when I think I dodged at the right time, I get knocked to the floor. Also I need to git gud at just making a break for it when he starts vomiting fire on the ground.
In my experience, the best tool for this fight is Pestilent Mercury, though you'll need 30 INT to use it.
yeah, but pestilent mercury is a really boring way of beating bosses. I did a run with it a while back and stopped after the dancer because it just wasn't fun to spam pestilent mercury, run away, repeat till the boss is dead.

+Yusak Awondatu well, that's never directly stated. The game basically beats you over the head with the implication that NK is Gwyns firstborn, but it's technically never explicitly stated. For all intents and purposes you're correct, but still.

I don't get the complaints about this fight. its a legendary abyss eating dragon who you earlier pissed the FUCK off, and it sure remembers you. yes its tanky and does a lot of damage but no shit, its a huge and extremely powerful dragon while you're some faggot undead. plus its not impossible it just takes time to learn
It's a boss battle that takes more than 40 minutes unless you re-spec into some kind of heavy refined wep or faith build. I didn't find myself all that impressed with this fight, despite it being absolutely amazing in terms of shock value and lore. No boss battle should overextend to those lengths. The defenses are on the extreme, especially on NG+, and beyond even more so. The moveset is laughably easy to maneuver through. He does have some amazing moves, but too few in my opinion. He was a "ancient dragon 2.0" from DaS2 for me. Just run to the tail and strike, as he will rarely if ever bother with trying to stop you from it.
I really do not understand the complaints myself. I managed a rather swift but extremely overextended victory against him on my first try on NG+++. I used a "Oscar" build of sorts, which can explain why it took such a long time.

Ifucking Hatelife guardian dragon wasn’t good, it was a dragon fight that (in the scholar of the first sin edition) you’ve already fought earlier in the game and the fight was nothing special anyway, it was pretty basic, Sinh was the best dragon fight in dark souls 2 but that’s not saying much, it still doesn’t hold a candle to kalameet because of two things. 1) status effects (poison) in a boss fight is bullshit. 2) sinh won’t fucking sit still

i just watched this fight in particular because it of the "way gwyn intended."
I loved every moment of this boss, even though it killed me several times before I got the patterns down. I did the DLC with my Smough's Hammer build and getting the killing blow as a riposte felt amazing. Such a good ending to the Souls series, a dragon that acts and moves like a dragon should.

This fight is a good example of why I don't get the complaints about the camera being bad for this fight if locking on. It can be annoying at times (when at the edge of the arena), but that's to be expected with a boss of that size. In fact I personally find that the camera movement on the claw swipes and bite attacks HELPS me dodge Midir's attacks at moments like 1:34-1:41, 2:20-2:29 and such. This even goes for the Savage Rush as well, but it's not as consistent there. Strangely I'd also say that the amazing score helps in phase 1 with getting the rithym due to to sweeping strings complementing the most common melee combos of Midir.
The only attacks that break lock are the backwards jumps, the unseen (in this video) aerial bombardment, which is the one attack I still can't consistently dodge.
I don't find Midir to be that difficult of a boss now, Iudex Gundyr killed me more times than Midir did on my thrid playthrough (went Thief and the Bandit's Knife got me there). That doesn't mean I don't adore this fight and at 'worst' it's in my to 7 of all time (my top 7 all-time bosses is exclusively Dark Souls 3 bosses). This fight is just amazing with a godly track to go with it.

Artan Blacknight he never fought alongside Nito or the Witches of Izalith, the made an agreement and each did there own thing. Nito spread sickness while the Witches burned down the trees and Gwyn hunted the dragons the found. Seath had an opportunity to get even with the dragons that ridiculed him for his lack of scales and murdered them. They all went their seperate ways and Gwyn gave Seath a place in his realm with a title and portion of his very soul. Get your lore straight man.

Cause as soon as the Dragons were gone, they all went there separate ways and they did not like one another a single bit.
Plus only Gwyn and his army fought the dragons directly, the rest did different things to further damage or kill dragons if different meathods indirectly
Well done, I know I have tried way too many times with a sorcery focused build not using sorcery during the fight but, I would recommend the you use the sunlight spear up close for the little lightning strike afterwards dealing tons of damage

This DLC had some of my favorite bosses in the game. First of all, the Demon Prince fight is AMAZING. We fight in the ruins of the original Firelink Shrine and finish the fight started by Lorian. The Spears of the Church has a cool NPC, then a PvP fight that makes YOU the boss. You take less damage as more summons are brought in, and can use boss-like attacks! Then Midir, a TRUE dragon fight, not what we got with the Ancient Wyvern. Finally, Gael, the NPC we got to know earlier on who has been consumed by the blood of the dark soul, which courses through his veins. He is pretty much Guts from Berserk, my favorite fictional character, and it's just so cool! There's a lot of detail put into the fight, like how he uses a soapstone to teleport to you, the faces in his cloak and magic attacks, and the way that the lightning will actually hurt him if he is hit.

Dodo German lol just go to the goddess of rebirth Rosaria and respec. Get a dark sword or raw astora straight sword or even exile great sword. And use Carthus Flame Arc on it or Dark Blade. Get sunlight spear and get some heavy armour spec on vigor so you don't get one shoted by his attack always be embered and go for it. Hit his tail the whole time. If you get chances hit his head several times to get him staggered if possible and finish him. Just don't be greedy. This fight is supposed to take time. Focus on dodging and don't use all stamina for hits... I had to learn this the hard way. And as a last resort bring friends and wreck his shit...
The Legendary Soldier ye i know what you mean, but i used up all my point relocations.
I ended up only using mercury against him and finishing him with that. It also feels like people underestimate the strength of mercury against bosses

Ekm originally he has 55 faith points but the priestess ring adds 5 more points
The ring buff from the Priestess Ring is +5 faith so I assume he had 55 and so it became 60.

People need to stop complaining about this boss... It's Dark Souls, it's meant to be hard! No one complained about OnS constantly! So why do it with Midir? Plus, just stay with him and when he does that fire attack, run for his tail, forget his head and attack his legs like I done!

george Duffett dark souls is not known coz its hard, no. ppl love this game coz its challenging, it brings a challenge: hard but fair. midir is kinda unfair, he is cool and fun but his hp bar is to big and the camera is hard to control.

Its an optional boss, and the ancient dragon used to one shot people too. From is basically telling you; if you think you are good enough, here is an optional boss to test your self.

As for being how Gwyn intended, using Miracles? Perhaps as Lord of Sunlight, but as Cinder, all that boy was doing was wailing away with his fire sword. Not so sure even his former self would be so uncomfortable getting near a dragon (that didn't have proper stone scales making it immortal short of blowing the stuff off and having no primordial crystal business cropping up).
NOTE: I suspect my SL1 NUR+ handling will be using Black Knight Shield rather than Silver Knight (where occasional blocking of flame **maybe even melee with 2H** is concerned). Time will tell. Have to wait for final patch.
Gwyn killed dragons with lightning bolts. He never fought them as the lord of cinder.
BigVEE Check out my sl1 run if you want ideas. Shield makes it harder tbh. Patience will take you far. Record your fights and look for his attack windups so you can easily spot them. It's hard to see them and remember in the heat of battle so watch vids of me or yourself and practice. You can do it!

I'd probably check such a thing after I'd finished my run. As noted, this will be SL1 NUR+ anyway (no upgrading flasks **quality or quantity**, infusing, improving gear, etc.). Still. **checks** I don't tend to care for buffing all that much (though it can help **when it means tons, I'll go for it**).
Based on his known resistances and damage types, I'd probably consider Lightning Urn (though not expecting much) and Gold Pine Resin. Not sure what final patch will look like, but I imagine not too much change to what can be used for even basic SL1. I'm sure Dragonslayer Axe would be a great choice (buff it with more lightning).
I'm still favoring Anri's (I'll probably murder her straight away this time rather than helping her **not like I've got the option of the Dark Lord in SL1**) even if the class got nerfed. It should be pretty alright and HP regain is swell (though the on/off exploiting was removed **how very sad** not unlike the 'not enough MP' antics with WA casted 'spells' and such where Gentle Prayer was concerned in particular for healing goodness).
Shame SCoF is 18FTH (if only there was a +3FTH ring like there is a +5 already **DEX is the only one with a +3 stat increasing ring and they didn't go the DaS2 route with gear and patches to make gear more interesting with adding and taking away of stats with plenty of special effects tied to the stuff**). With v1.00, I wouldn't even need the stats to have casted the WA (which would have been fabulous for not requiring me to keep the thing out **though they other getting double the healing effect while LH 2H it was nice**).
NOTE: In theory, should it not get patched, I should have the option of Whip (DEX to wield) and Frozen Weapon (INT to wield) for the boss stamina drain exploit/bug. Not sure how well that works. I'd certainly want to test it out, but wouldn't finish the fight with that (just as I ended up not letting myself cheese Champ with Poison Spores through a wall while sitting things out though I could have **and will be an option for Gael**).
I imagine Deep Battle Axe (found infused, so I allow it **goes around the rules like the Blessed R/W Shield +1 does on two fronts**) will still have a place. Needing three ring slots to use Murky Hand Scythe is a put-off. It would really have to be a good return for that sort of commitment. With Human Pine Resin, maybe. Without resin, I'd sooner use the Longstaff for a little dark without so many rings.
Not so sure about the various DLC tools that will be new to my second time around in these conditions (War Banner as a buff for LH has some appeal). CotMK has some nice showings, though I'm unsure about how well it will compare to my other options without being improved (and stat scaling to realize its potential). Indeed, lots of new options (that will mostly be ignored after I collect them).

Depends, I'd say. If I can reasonably block his flames (without getting opened up to a counter-hit). Stability on Dragon Crest Shield might be lacking (even with 2H). Not sure yet. Almost certainly for his melee (which seems like dark rather than fire anyway). I know I want Ethereal Oak Shield for the run, but probably not for this fight. Black Knight Shield in 2H is the safest bet for blocking his fire, but I hear talk the dark beams are not blockable. As before, not too sure about blocking his melee.
I'll still be sprinting and sometimes evading, but I don't have much interest in using Bloodring here (though I'll probably give it a go for bosses I've bested before **see if this approach works out for me**). Pity that Pestilent Mercury has such a high stat demand, but it is to be expected. I don't really agree with Great Magic Shield not being 15INT though (that would be delightful though short-lived).

I've no real concern with Midir (just want to test some things before killing him in final patch **whenever that comes out**). Not much about him seems concerning for the run type in question. I'd be more worried about those who can quickly get in my face, go Bloodborne (4+ hit chains) on my ass and generally be a little quick for my reaction time.
