Really odd how he describes those years after he quit as "fun". He was a skeleton who was shooting up heroin constantly and was living in squalor. The planes of dimensions he's talking about was him being high as a kite. He used to hallucinate full-on conversations with people who weren't there. People from the outside who saw him during this period of time were extremely concerned about him. He was spiraling down a very dark path. By some miracle, he survived this period and was able to recover from a severe heroin addiction. Maybe it was "fun" for him because he enjoyed doing the drugs and had not reached a "rock bottom" point in his life. He was just having fun being a drug addict. But from the outside, people knew it was only a matter of time before he was dead. Interesting perspective that he still thinks of this time as "fun", because when fans see videos of him during that point in his life, it's horrifying to watch.
He's not necessarily talking about those years, iirc after 94 he went to rehab and only rejoined in 98 so might be these times and he's not even mentioning those hardcore years. Or maybe that's included in the sadness he mentioned
@@Wick3DSteely I've heard him talk before specifically about those years he was on drugs and how enlightening it was and how he was never afraid of dying and that he felt he could stop any time he wanted. But he kept going because he liked it. So this isn't the first time he's talked about really enjoying that time in his life. Which to an outsider sounds crazy.
it's interesting, at the very least, that JF said that this time was fun. the guy almost died and was saved in a very deplorable state by flea and Anthony. I really like Niandra and SFSYH but I don't know...
Yeah I feel the same way. Nearly killing yourself with heroin, having your house burn down, losing most of the stuff you have, crapping your own pants and so on doesn't sound like fun to me.
I don't like Niandra and SFTSYH. It really shows how John was depressed and not well. Altough I respect his art, that's not my cup of tea, really far from that. From 2000s on I enjoy and appreciate all Jonh's solo album and his honesty. The song "Regret" is absollutely amazing, so direct, so meaningful.
Who hasn't? John used to be very open and would share unrefined thoughts, things he was working through. I'm sure he disagrees with a lot of what he's said over the years. But there is an underlying thread to his lyrics that is remarkably consistent.
@@mirrorsarewater I've noticed the thread that goes through his solo art: I'm talking more about his takes on the his work with the Chili's. He'll bash his work on an album, then praise it. I'm not saying that having those feeling aren't normal. More that his opinions change more frequently than most.
Really hits home with The Will to Death playing in the background, nice work man.
Thanks!
He makes it so understandable what he went through
his comments are incredibly self reflective and insightful. respect.
Underscore Self Reflective
John is such a gift to this world and I honestly think he makes those around him and everyone he touches with his music better people.
When he talks about hearing voices , I was never sure if he meant literally, but I think he does literally hear voices
Yeah he does, he is clairaudiant. He's connected to the othersides more than most.
@@chrisscott6727 yeah he says he also used to have synethesia, but doesn't anymore
Thats just from shooting up cocaine for long periods of time. Its not a thing of beauty.
Idk, I am just guessing, but you know all the mouth wiping he did? Drooling is a side effect of some anti-hallucinagenic medications. But idk him.
I reckon he probably means his own thoughts 🤔

Sometimes you have to destroy in order to create..........and he certainly knows who he is more than anyone else

yeah new video😃😃
I would love to know John's perspective on this stuff now.
The same way brother .. this is the most accurate lay out of his feelings back then .. ❤ .. he clearly got a very good selfreflection here
Fuck this is amazing

I get why he quit the 1st time. Its the 2nd time I'm wondering about.
I heard it's because he wanted to get focused on his own music. He created 2 albums during that time if I remember well
I love John but he's contradicted himself on MANY occasions

@@bakihanma644 They definitely do. I wish we could hear some more of his opinions. Aside from the Ruben podcast we don't get much from him these days.
@@mirrorsarewater l loved how he gave the energy of Mother's Milk some love. He also said "Can't get that back". That made me upset.
He rejected Hollyweird. If you fucking know you probably listen to method man and real shit
